(Hugh Price) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "DRider" Subject: Warren Haynes Chritmas Jam Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 14:02:20 -0500 Attention patchers! The Warren Haynes Christmas Jam will be 6 to 6.5 hours of solid music. Someone will be playing acoustic while the roadies are switching sets. Therefore, you need to be ready! There are WAY more patchers than tapers w/ rigs which spells chaos. I plan on using 2x90m tapes. I suggest you do the same. Les tapes = less cuts I will be switching out batteries when I switch tapes. Patchers need to label their tapes and put their names on them. I will be unable to give patches to those that refuse to use 90m tapes. Also, I will only give patches to those w/ external batteries or a fresh set of Lithium's. I won't be running the light on the Sonys w/ Lithium's, so there should be enough power for the entire show. But it would not be a bad idea to provide an extra set of Lithium's just in case. All the tapers w/ rigs are going to be maxed out w/ the number of patches they can handle, so get there early. Be prepared to leave all your stuff w/ the taper and come get it at the end. There will not be much room, so coming back and forth should be minimized. I will try to accommodate all the patchers that I can handle. Preference will be given to those who are properly prepared. Safe Travels! D-Rider - that Josephson dude ------------------------------ From: "DRider" Subject: B&P Considerations Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 14:13:06 -0500 To anyone that does B&P's I have gotten 3 B&P's that had problems, all in a row. The first guy sent me discs, when I clearly said "DAT only" in my post and in the subsequent private email. The next 2 did not say what shows they were requesting. #3 sent his card w/ his email addy, so I sent him a note. I do not save the emails of those who get in on B&P's. If someone gets in, after I give my vitals, I delete their note. It's up to the person that wants the B&P to let me know what I am spinning. I have made a number of B&P offers and I can't remember who gets what. I always send this link: http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/ to anyone that gets in. But it appears that people are not reading it. Sending money in an envelope w/ your blank tape is NOT a B&P. Most people that do B&P's don't go to the post office to send your package out. And most don't like getting money for doing a B&P. If someone is doing the kind act of filling a B&P, that person should only have to spin the DAT or burn the disc, seal up the package and drop it in the mailbox. After this last batch I will no longer be able to accommodate people that do not follow these simple guidelines. Peace, D ------------------------------ From: Logofadog@aol.com Subject: midiman co2 Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 14:21:51 EST Hi- I bought a midiman co2 to convert my sony 7 pin>optical cable too coax. instead of buying Oades 7 pin>coax cable. Does any one else convert thier optical to caox with this? If so can I power it with out it being plugged into the wall? Thanks -Denny ------------------------------ From: "Florek, John" Subject: cards v hypercards Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 11:33:01 -0800 Howdy folks- I'm a beginning taper, and just picked up a pair of (used) AKG C1000Ss... I've done some online research on the different patterns these mics offer, and due to some conflicting information, I'm a little confused. Can someone direct me to a good online source for determining the proper patterns for certain applications? Or perhaps post your thoughts here (or reply directly)? I'm planning on taping concerts with these, ranging from coffeehouses to arenas, provided these are applicable. I may also do some environmental/field recording if the opportunity arises. I've heard two recordings made with this style mics, one (the Italian beach show Phish 97) sounds great, the other (Gov't Mule at the Warfield) not so good... Thanks in advance, john ------------------------------ From: Olympian90@aol.com Subject: Help! I need to clear out some extra vinyl/CD singles... Date: Wed, 19 Dec 2001 14:42:50 EST Hello, everyone. I've decided it is time to lighten the shelves and find some new homes for some CDs and vinyl. They are all UK singles that usually have 3-4 songs per CD. If you're interested in anything listed, feel free to send an e-mail. If you want to save some money on postage, I can unbox them and put them in a plastic bag. All of the items are in excellent to very good-plus condition unless indicated. Thanks! I feed it from the digi-out of my SBM-1 (coax) and that gives a coax out feed and an optical feed (minidisc'ers like that). There's too much hassle with sony v. [everyone else] in their S/PDIF* so having a CO2 is nice. I power mine at shows with a 9V battery (with the appropriate plug). It even seems to work fine with a 6V eco-charge, but YMMV. *if the active components for the S/PDIF will fit into a 7 pin plug, why the hell didn't sony just put them in their deck and save everyone this hassle? -- Wayne D.
