Also, dvd-r blanks are $8 (tdk made in japan, compusa) - but I would first master on a dvd-rw to check the burn (not sure if iMac can write dvd-rw). But with the right codec, you should be able to get it on a dvd no problem. Also, the value of a 5.1 disc will depend on the mixing at the venue (i.e. even the stereo mix can be pretty weak - and you would want to run most of the bass to a sub/rear speaker as it is non directional. BTW - anyone got a better source for good dvd-rs (online) - retail in my area (tdk (japan), maxell (tawain)) is $7.99 a disk. Anyone got any new Bush shows - trade bait: Coldplay 7/10/2000 (HMV show) Radiohead Rock IM Ring and Rock AM Ring (two 2-cd FMs from 2001) U2 - 5/16/01 United center (very nice aud) tc Will tc Will tc Will ------------------------------ From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?L_Se=E1n_Kennedy?= Subject: Re: 5.1/DVD-R blanks/New Bush Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2001 20:43:00 -0500 --On Monday, December 24, 2001 7:45 PM -0500 willard robinson=20 wrote: > dvd-r blanks are $8 (tdk > made in japan, compusa) (...) > BTW - anyone got a better source for good > dvd-rs (online) - retail in my area (tdk > (japan), maxell (tawain)) is $7.99 a disk. I almost replied to the original about this too. I have seen them for $5.95 in mailings from The computer geeks (computergeeks.com). Noname brand from what I recall -- "good" seems to have a variety of definitions among dat-heads. These may burn fine but that is no measure of their stability for "archival" use. Scott.C.Brown has kept me out of the loop for the last year or so on the price of discs. Yes, they are getting much cheaper lately he says. Seems like all we need is better software. Regardless... go out there and set up some 5.1 configurations at some shows guys. Let's expand our taping experiences! Let's go over the top and do what those bands think isn't possible! But Scott.C.Brown still kicks ass... :) H! PEACE & BLESSINGS, STUART ------------------------------ From: "Chet B. Eppert" Subject: Opinions on this mic... Date: Tue, 25 Dec 2001 09:21:03 -0500 Hey All, Season's greetings. Anyone use the Sony ECM-717 mic with a D8 or M1 for taping loud rock shows in small clubs? The major specs are: Sensitivity -47dB, dynamic range >80dB, SNR >64dB, max SPL 110dB. I'm not looking for miracles here, but I tape maybe 2 shows a year, and the price is right. Thanks Much, C ------------------------------ From: "Mike Labuda" Subject: wailers taping policy Date: Tue, 25 Dec 2001 13:43:55 -0500 wondering if anyone has experience w/ taping the wailers. are they taper friendly? please drop me a line off list if you know their policy. happy holidats! mike ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
