Connect your LP turntable to your audio receiver. Take line level
outputs to the analog inputs of a good quality digitizing sound card
(e.g., Midiman M/Audio Audiophile 2496). Record using a the software of
your choice (e.g., Cool Edit 2000, Cool Edit Pro, N-Track, Sound Forge)
and then burn to CD.
I hope this helped!

Avoid the MD generation if at all possible! MD uses that lossy compression
scheme that digitizes the audio, then throws away some of the data. Even if
it creates an extra hassle, I'd get your trade to go directly to CD if at
all possible. If he 'must' have the MD generation in between, have him
label the CD's as such (master cassette>MD>CD) and pass that information
along so anyone down the line is aware of how the transfers were
done....that way there is no confusion when the taper upgrades equipment and
circulates cassette master>DAT or cassette>DAT copies at a later time.
Depending on the equipment used in mastering and playback, you may not hear
the difference of an added MD generation, but I assure you, it is there, and
best avoided....

As a dealer of MBHO microphones for nearly two and half years, I have
collected many recordings on them and find them to be one of my favorite
microphones of recording live music. Tight, well-defined bottom-end,
although not as heavy and intense as some mics. The mids and highs are
prominent and clear. Great definition and presence. Sample tapes
available. Give us a call.
As we are so psyched on MBHO mics, we offer a 45-day satisfaction gaurantee
that we will buy back at 85% of what you paid if you aren't totally happy
with them. To date, having sold many of them, we have only had three sets
returned. Those owners opted to get DPA or Schoeps as alternates.

I have several recordings made with MBHO's and an MP-2. Some even in
relatively low-profile applications ; )
We also offer the same satisfaction gaurantee on the MP2 as we do with the
MBHO's.
Another option to consider is our rental program where 75-100% of rental
fees can be applied to purchase.

Hi. Having been to the Word / Chocolate Genius show last night at the Fox,
I can definitely testify with certainty: taping is allowed, encouraged.
yee-haw.
if you are planning on taping, please tape the opening act Chocolate Genius
as well. Mark Anthony Thompson's band features Oren Bloedow on guitar and
the one and only Herschel Dwellingham Sr. on drums... well worth the spin.
They went on about ten minutes after the printed start time, and played for
50 minutes. Not quite sure what time the Word hit, but they played for
2:06, so you *might* be able to squeeze it all onto a 90M tape if you're a
risk-taker.
If you get any quality Chocolate Genius down, I'd love to hear from you.
Plenty to trade, word, medeski, randolph, chocolate genius, you name it.
happy taping

I'd like to say this about the Oktava's:
Great mics and in my opinion can't be beat for the price. The Sound Room
(www.oktava.com) does have quality control and will provide you with a
matched pair.
As far as the mics being fragile, moisture and wind sensitive...I have no
idea what Stan is referring to. I haven't used these mics in any situation
other than for field (concert) recording. I've been in the harshest and
nicest clubs. I've even taped outdoors during very heavy rain (all day ran,
very very wet...Grassroots Fest 2001) and have yet to be disappointed in
their performance. Like any mic you will need a good windscreens for
outdoors, but that's to be expected. My recordings at the grassroots fest
came out great and you would never know that it rained like it did.
my 2 cents...,

Hi, I've got a few disks that need to find a good home. All are unclaimed,
extra disks with no flaws, etc. That said, some of these are audio disks
and some are data disks containing .shn files. I assume that you, the
recipient understand what is to be done with such a data disk and won't be
disappointed when they put such a disk in their portable CD players at the
beach... It's an eclectic mix, hopefully something for everyone in the
family...
First person to send me 6 blank data CDrs, 16x certified please, & return
postage gets 'em. The disks you'll be getting are blanks from Office Depot,
so obviously you can send me whatever brands you've got sitting around,
though I'd certainly prefer name brands (maxell, TDK, etc.) if you've got
them to give.
Here's what's in the bunch:
1)
12-24-73 Elton John FM (shn)
2)
7-5-95 Tortoise
3-7-97 Tortoise (shn)
3)
11-xx-90 Primus
3-27-65 Wes Montgomery (shn) (wes 'n les, get it?)
4, 5)
8-8-01 Radiohead TLM170 source (2 audio disks)
Drop me an email if you're interested, subject 'CDr offer' please -- I'll
get back to you if you're the winner.

I have read all of the specifications and have experience with the SV-3800 -

improves tape handling and if the SBM 20-bit sound is better - please share
your thoughts on any issue (pro's./con's) to either (or both) machines.

balance so I could use it in my home studio with good results, but how is it
in the field for use with a PCM-M1 with or without a SBM-1? Also, where
could I get a cable 5-pin XLRF (balanced) to mini-stereo male (unbalanced) -
are there any issues with going from balanced to unbalanced like that?
I love DAT!

What do you guys think of the Audio Technica AT822? How did it get its

ooooompaaaahhhh. they thudded my chest and iIcan still feel it...much

In group I administrate (DAT>CDR) there's a bunch of fellow traders who
kindly offer cdr's in a FREE form , so called "TRAIN"
It works pretty simple: The source will send one or more FREE cd's to a guy
(on 2nd position).
He will receive the cd's, will copy for himself, and will send originals to
the 3rd guy , and so on. The last guy (the final station) will take the
originals.
This way to spread cd is very Cool: just need fast and reliable traders. No
trades, no B&P. They are FREE.
Very Simple.
My offer for the DATHEADS:
MOSES GUEST, a very good jam group, from Texas.
Thanks to generosity of Jeff (manager of Moses Guest) I can
spread here three discs of this very interesting group.
After read some old articles (one on Relix magazine, the Bible of Jam rock)
I was very curious to listen the band.
I have to tell that is a really awesome music: imagine to listen a mix
between Max Creek and WSP.
But Moses Guest isn't a clone, they get own personality: excellent guitars
above a solid groove carpet.
My offer is three disks:
MOSES GUEST
Rudyard's Pub - Houston - 6/16/01 (2 cdr)
filler: 5-18-01 Rudz , Houston (acoustic)
MOSES GUEST
- Grif's - St Patricks Day - 3-17-01 - Houston, TX.
The above discs are DSDB

Press Synopsis
Moses Guest is a Texas-based, groove-rock band with a southern inflection.
The band has created a sizeable, grass-roots support network over the last
few years by touring regionally and nationally. Moses Guest believes that
bands that work hard at the grass-roots level can build huge, perpetual
fan-bases, which provide both artistic and economic stability. Backed by its
own record label, Aufheben Records, Moses Guest is an entity in control of
its own destiny. Moses Guest comes out sounding ripe for today's demand for
melody, integrity, and longevity.
1) Member of the Home Grown Music Network (www.homegrownmusic.net), a
rapidly-expanding, nationwide, music network for independent rock, jazz, and
bluegrass bands. Moses Guest was the first Texas-based band to be invited
to join.
2) In 1998, Moses Guest played on the second stage at the H.O.R.D.E.
Festival in Antioch, TN, prior to Col. Bruce Hampton and Derek Trucks Band,
after winning a Band to Band Contest in Houston, TX.
3) In 1999, Moses Guest played over 95 gigs, including performing prior to
JGB Band (former members of Jerry Garcia Band, moe., and the Steve Miller
Band.
4) In 2000, Moses Guest and Aufheben Records released a 3-song EP geared for
national radio release. "U 'N' Mi" climbed to #31 of Top 200 at
MusicMonster.net in March 2000. The entire EP is still receiving airplay at
radio stations worldwide, including Russia, Germany, England, France, and
Australia.
5) Media appearances in 2000 included performing on "Weeknite Edition" on
PBS KUHT-TV, Houston, TX and a live 40-minute acoustic set on KPFT 90.1 FM
"Dead Air" Radio Show, Houston, TX.
6) MTV Real World signed to use "American Trailer Home Blues" CD and "Three
New Ditties" EP in the "Real World New Orleans" TV series. Songs "Alabama"
and "U 'N' Mi" aired on the show's final episode November 7, 2000.
7) Moses Guest and Aufheben Records just released a new 3-CD live box set
entitled "Home or Arkansas" comprised of over two hours of live Moses Guest
culled from shows in Houston, TX and Little Rock, AR from 1998 and 1999.
Aufheben has made the CD available for free in MP3 on the internet at
MosesGoods.com under "MP3".
8) Aufheben Records launched MosesRadio.com in November 2000, which streams
both live and studio MG 24/7/365 via MP3.com. MosesRadio.com hit #3 on the
Live Music Radio Charts, and #7 on the Label Charts, on MP3.com by December
2000. Songs "Best Side Up", "Take Me", "Right Down", "100,000X", "I Know
You Rider", and "How Does It Feel?" have all cracked the Top 40 on the
Southern Rock Charts at MP3.com.
9) The band has been working in the studio throughout 2001 to complete work
on its 4th studio release on Aufheben Records. Tracks from "Three New
Ditties" EP will be included on the CD, to be released early 2002.
10) Moses Guest toured through the Midwest and Southeast May 19-June 3,
2001, including their first South Carolina show.
11) In June 2001, "Burning Around The Sun" hit #1 on the Contemporary Jazz
Charts on the German MP3 site BeSonic.com, and in July 2001, "Right Down"
and "Hillbilly" cracked the Top 40 at MP3.com.au (Australia).
12) Moses Guest was voted Best Rock/Pop Band and Rick Thompson was nominated
for Best Keyboardist at the 2001 Houston Press Music Awards in July 2001.
13) Moses Guest 3rd Annual Ski Fest at Grand Targhee Ski Resort is scheduled
for Jan 24, 25, and 26, 2002. The band will perform 4 sets per day free in
the Trap Bar at the base of the slopes. The full tour will run from Jan

Hey everyone, it seems the problems with my Waveterminal 2496 never end. One
night I was going from dat>hd w/o any problems. I leave the computer on for
a few days while I go away, I come back and the digital in has stopped
working. Now I get no signal via the s/pdif in. All I am getting is a
hissing sound when I select the digital in clock source on the control panel
when the dat is hooked up and playing. I spoke with the tech support girl at
Egosys and she had no idea why this was happening. The only thing she
mentioned is that Windows 2000 utilizes ACPI (Advanced Configuration Power
Interface) which can cause problems with the Waveterminal. I am wondering if
this sort of thing has happened with anyone else's card. The card is still
working via the analog i/o, as well as for playing back wave sounds. If you
have any clue what might be the problem please drop me an e-mail at
knicks1680@aol.com. thanks
