MD uses that lossy compression scheme that digitizes the audio, then throws away some of the data. Even if it creates an extra hassle, I'd get your trade to go directly to CD if at all possible. If he 'must' have the MD generation in between, have him label the CD's as such (master cassette>MD>CD) and pass that information along so anyone down the line is aware of how the transfers were done....that way there is no confusion when the taper upgrades equipment and circulates cassette master>DAT or cassette>DAT copies at a later time. Depending on the equipment used in mastering and playback, you may not hear the difference of an added MD generation, but I assure you, it is there, and best avoided.... john e. bogus ------------------------------ From: "Marc Nutter" Subject: re: MBHO tapes Reply-To: "Marc Nutter" Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 14:05:36 -0700 >From: "pzane" wrote: >Hi! >I'm looking into purchasing MBHO 603's w/ Ka200n. Tight, well-defined bottom-end, although not as heavy and intense as some mics. The mids and highs are prominent and clear. Great definition and presence. Sample tapes available. Give us a call. Having been to the Word / Chocolate Genius show last night at the Fox, I can definitely testify with certainty: taping is allowed, encouraged. yee-haw. if you are planning on taping, please tape the opening act Chocolate Genius as well. Mark Anthony Thompson's band features Oren Bloedow on guitar and the one and only Herschel Dwellingham Sr. on drums... well worth the spin. They went on about ten minutes after the printed start time, and played for 50 minutes. Not quite sure what time the Word hit, but they played for 2:06, so you *might* be able to squeeze it all onto a 90M tape if you're a risk-taker. If you get any quality Chocolate Genius down, I'd love to hear from you. Plenty to trade, word, medeski, randolph, chocolate genius, you name it. happy taping peter _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The band has created a sizeable, grass-roots support network over the last few years by touring regionally and nationally. Moses Guest believes that bands that work hard at the grass-roots level can build huge, perpetual fan-bases, which provide both artistic and economic stability. Backed by its own record label, Aufheben Records, Moses Guest is an entity in control of its own destiny. Moses Guest comes out sounding ripe for today's demand for melody, integrity, and longevity. 1) Member of the Home Grown Music Network (www.homegrownmusic.net), a rapidly-expanding, nationwide, music network for independent rock, jazz, and bluegrass bands. Moses Guest was the first Texas-based band to be invited to join. 2) In 1998, Moses Guest played on the second stage at the H.O.R.D.E. Festival in Antioch, TN, prior to Col. Bruce Hampton and Derek Trucks Band, after winning a Band to Band Contest in Houston, TX. 3) In 1999, Moses Guest played over 95 gigs, including performing prior to JGB Band (former members of Jerry Garcia Band, moe., and the Steve Miller Band. 4) In 2000, Moses Guest and Aufheben Records released a 3-song EP geared for national radio release. "U 'N' Mi" climbed to #31 of Top 200 at MusicMonster.net in March 2000. The entire EP is still receiving airplay at radio stations worldwide, including Russia, Germany, England, France, and Australia. 5) Media appearances in 2000 included performing on "Weeknite Edition" on PBS KUHT-TV, Houston, TX and a live 40-minute acoustic set on KPFT 90.1 FM "Dead Air" Radio Show, Houston, TX. 6) MTV Real World signed to use "American Trailer Home Blues" CD and "Three New Ditties" EP in the "Real World New Orleans" TV series. Songs "Alabama" and "U 'N' Mi" aired on the show's final episode November 7, 2000. 7) Moses Guest and Aufheben Records just released a new 3-CD live box set entitled "Home or Arkansas" comprised of over two hours of live Moses Guest culled from shows in Houston, TX and Little Rock, AR from 1998 and 1999.
