Greetings=85
I=92m afraid the news I have for you is not good. At the moment, =
despite
all the buzz about ultimate compatibility in windows XP, the DiO 2448
_will not work_ in XP. I have had many conversations with the friendly
folks at Midiman/M-Audio, and there are currently no XP drivers in
development. The only way to run a computer with that soundcard working
at full capacity (and not just using the various =93tricks=94 I =
developed as
work arounds=85) is to roll back to Windows 2000. If you=92ve upgraded =
from
NT or 2kPro=85 it=92ll be a reformat for you. Otherwise, you should be =
able
to uninstall XP. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news=85

well, after almost 7 years of great reliablity, my D8 decided to 'lunch' a
DAT last night. not really eat it up, but when i tried to eject post gig,
the tape had wound itself around a roller or something inside the machine.
i just closed the door, and let it reload. hit play and i had levels (no
head phones to check) and went on home. got the tape out later, but now
theres silence on the tape. or is there? my personal guess is that it
misloaded and then recorded while misloaded, played back while misloaded,
but now, nothing!
it was a stellar gig for some friends and would love some advice if there is
a way to salvage this one.
big thanks in advance...

Hiya Dat-Heads-
I picked up 2 Sony Home Decks - an A7 & a 75 ES but neither came with a
manual and I was wondering if there is a way to check error rates on either
or both of these?

I recently tired to burn a cd using the Adaptec software that comes with the
Gateway computer. It has disc at once. Between every track there is a click
where the two tracks are brought together. Is there a way to correct that or
is there better software to use for this process.
In addition
I have been splicing shows together on my computer and buring them onto my
stand alone HHB. I have been using cool edit pro. Is there a trigger I can
lay down in the software that will allow the computer to tell the burner to
set the track. If not, is there software out there that WILL allow the
computer and burner to interact??
Thanks for all the help in previous posts.

just send me your list! I want to transfer my
dats to dvd-r for me and trade away all my dats
for cdrs so I can then transfer the cdrs to dvdr.
Make any sense to ya'? I also have about 65 dats
that I have already transfered to dvdr that are
ready to send to anyone here who has alot of
stuff already on cdr for an easy swap in trade
for only 2 cdrs per dat! Most of them are dead
digitals and master analog to dat. The list above
is what I have on dat, cdr, dvdr and beta pcm. I
also have about 100 beta pcms done to dvdr that
are boxed up and ready to ship to anyone who
wants them for 3 cdrs per tape!!! This would be a
great thing for me to get rid of the
dats....cause Im running outta room! :-)

Sad to say the long time taper recently passed away (unexpectedly).
He was 47 and although raised in Florida, made NYC his home.
If anyone has kind words to say, please pass them along to Todd
at <suicidesound@nyc.rr.com>. Since Mitchell's mother (still in
Florida) has no email access, Todd will print them up and bring
the messages to her. Donations may be made to the American
Heart Association in Mitch's name.
I apologize if you feel this has no worth on DAT-Heads, but he
did participate in the digital world of taping and trading (like the
rest of us). If it bothers any of you that I posted this message here,
let me know, and I'll send you something. OK?

I'm stumped on this problem with the SONY tdc-700: it fails on loading.
Everything moves into place, holds for a few seconds, then backs up, tries
again, then backs out with a caution. The load looks normal -- I'm
suspecting the loading solenoid is supposed to lock the loading gears in
place but it's not doing it. The service manual doesn't give details on when
the solenoid gets activated. Any ideas are really appreciated.

Date: Mon, 28 Jan 2002 14:24:55 -0800
Hey Now Everybody,
Sorry if this is a serious waste of bandwidth for everyone. Won't do
this again. I just reinherited my cassette collection after moving
back east and there's a few gems that I've yet to find on DAT such
as Steely Dan 5/76 from Memphis that a buddy of mine gave me. Is
there a crisp copy out there of that show? If not I just transferred
a very listenable copy onto CD of a great performance. Has some
warble especially in parts of Pretzel Logic but it sounds like it's
from the original source. There is a slight hiss. Be glad to burn
copies for those interested. I also have about thirty direct from
the master cassette deadhead hours one in particular from 11/1/90
Wembley first set that I also haven't found on DAT yet, great
Maggies and Stander on the Mountain. Another one I've transfered to
CD, sounds very crisp. These are being transfered from a Nak DR-3.
Just thought I'd offer up these and anything else you might be
looking for that I might have a low gen copy of that may not be out
there in the digital community. I don't have a list so just write
with your requests and I'll go through the collection.
Thanks again all for the tasties I've acquired thanks to you.
