We are going to be setting up an shn audio site for the archives and I was hoping to find some grateful dat-heads that might have some Moon Boot Lover shows. You can e-mail me at alenz@hotmail.com. Also, I have just started an archives site that you can check out at www.geocities.com/tastyfresh. Thanks for your time!! Recording String Cheese Incident???? Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2002 12:20:26 EST I've never taped the SCI shows, but intend to do a couple this time around. (in April) Do they still allow SBD acess? If so, what do they have for a patch-bay? Do they generally have a taping area? or some tables set up near the board? PLMK! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've greatly enjoyed them! I'm still looking for the Bridge 2000 performances, so if anyone can help, I've quite a few things to trade, either dat or cdr. Also, I've just found out that my cd set of Springsteen's 6/23/00 is defective, namely disc 2. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. WOB tax: an fm broadcast of Emmylou Harris 3/28/76. it's a one disc show, and I'll do 3 b&p's! Thanks, Tom aka Musicarcade ------------------------------ From: "KUZEN J" Subject: Dylan Tour Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2002 14:13:38 -0500 I keep hearing that Dylan isn't going to have any opening act. True or not?? Next question is it going to be a standard Dylan set times 90min to 120min? Just wandering I'm thinking about trying to go and recorded the show wanted to know what kind{60/90meter} or amount of tape to bring in? I myself e-mailed him to rip a "new one" for him and he responded >What is going on in the DAT-heads community? >I am receiving a lot of hate mail and I am quite >hurt... Poor Baby! I told the guy, that us tapers spend $1000-$5000+ on taping equipment to just turnaround and spread the shows freely over to fans with no expectation of more then a thank you. and he responded: >The tapes we get come directly from people that get >paid for the work I also commented on the prices of the CDs. and how a .50 cent to $1 CD-Rs can be sold for $20, and he said. >let me offer you one of my cd, so you >can understand the quality of it and look at the >packaging. >If you'll give me an address I will be delighted to >send you a copy for your benefit, so you'll understand >which kind of product we are selling. >PS I am serious about my offer of a free double cd! I suggest people start e-mailing him, questioning the quality of disc and requesting samples. At the very least we can cut his bottom line and inventory a little. Good job DAT-Heads! Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2002 15:49:45 -0800 (PST) hey there, i was wondering if anybody could comment on the sound quality of the art's little 96/24 tube converter, looks like it could be dc powerable <9v @ 800mA> and gets about 100dB of dynamic range, fine for 16 bit and is probably limited by the vacuum tube anyway. it's got a 20 dB gain stage which would be fine for high output mics except you'd have to find a way to do the balanced->single ended conversion and power the mics. one thing i did notice is that it's only 24 bit output, seems like there is no dithering there which could be an issue when recording @ 44.1/16. other than that looks like a nice little converter, pretty cheap and TUBE! l8r...Nick here's a link to art's page on the dio: http://artproaudio.com/products_detail.asp?PRODUCTID=75 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Very few of these were made. This one was purchased by me back in 1998 and saw light use in my car with 60 meter tapes only. Pictures can be found on the following webpage: http://hometown.aol.com/philj2704/myhomepage/index.html The top photo shows the DAT running (as per the display on the receiver face) and the bottom photo shows the CD player running. The unit has been out of my car for over a year now, so everything was hooked up to a power amp to make sure it was all in good working condition. The only flaw currently is that it experiences some dropping out on DAT playback. This, I believe, can be easily remedied with a professional head cleaning. Since it needs a cleaning, I will offer the unit at a fair price. $400 for the DAT receiver and CD changer and I will pick up the 2-day UPS shipping costs. But, I am going to hit BOTH the Chris Smither and YMSB shows and I recommend you consider doing the same. Chris is playing his last US date before he heads to Europe for a while. Besides, I believe this is his first time in Phoenix. He is an awesome acoustic blues+folk singer/songwriter/guitarist. I heard him at Bumbershoot and he is extremely talented. In Chris's website he implies that taping his show is OK as long as you don't sell his music and you ask his permission to tape. BTW, if you haven't heard a show at Kerr, it is a "best kept secret" venue: holds only about 200-300 folks, real nice acoustics too. Tiks are $14/16, call 480-965-5377 to reserve. Finally, for you jazz lovers, David Friesen(Bass) & John Gross(Sax) are playing FREE on Friday at Inspiration Coffee House(8pm), for $10 on Sat at Rhythm Room(6pm), and then for free again at the Famous Door in Scottsdale on Sunday(8pm). I heard them tonite and it is also a show not to be missed. Support good music in the desert! thx, Pete __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
