I have very little of this equipment left. Those who know me know that I have a penchant for changing rigs pretty often, to put it mildly. If I wasn't Nutter's best taper customer, I was damn close. I've maybe bought a small handful of other items at Oade Brothers, Masterpiece and Terrapin. A couple of weeks ago, I put in a pre-order for the apogee mini-me with Nutter. He told me that I needed to put down 200.00 to reserve the unit. He did NOT tell me that it was non-refundable, nor does that fact appear on his site. I made it clear that I had to sell my apogee ad1000. When it became clear after a couple of weeks that I could not sell the apogee except at a tremendous loss, I called Nutter back to cancel my order. He essentially called me a liar, telling me he would give me the benefit of the doubt but that he was sure he had told me about the deposit being non-refundable. He refunded my money, minus a *restocking* charge of fifteen bucks. Fine. Despite the fact that I know it costs just a little to back up a credit card, and that most merchants accept this as a cost of doing business, and that I was a little irritated, I blew it off. I checked my credit card statement, to find that I only got 170.00 back. I called Nutter, who confirmed the 30.00 charge to refund my card. I pressed him on what it costs him to do that, and he told me 2 percent each way, on and off the card. That's 8 bucks. He told me that he has to "pay someone to run credit cards". What is that, 22 bucks a minute? I'm a lawyer with in Phoenix, and don't make that an hour. Here's the laundry list of what I've purchased from SonicSense: pair mbho 603/200 pair mbho 603/200 dpa 4011's akg 391's da-p1 with cables, warranty ecocharge sigma system ecocharge beta plus system ecocharge gamma system ad2k+ adc-20 lunatec v2 dmic-20(that embarrasses me) sonicase with two accessory bags and stand bag pcm m1 with warranty and 7 pin sound devices mp-2 sound devices mp-2 dds blanks set of audio magic excaliburs, 15' and 3' set audio magic xstreams fostex d5 marantz cdr 630 And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Please don't flame me or call me a whiner. I don't give a rat's ass about the 22 bucks. That's not the point. From: Bergerboy4@aol.com Subject: FS: CMC6/MK4'S and Oktava MC012's Date: Fri, 08 Feb 2002 12:59:12 EST Hi all, Im getting rid of my Schoeps CMC6/MK4's. I bought these 6 months ago and they are in perfect working/cosmetic condition. They are a matched pair, and I have the certificates they came with saying so. I also still have the wooden Schoeps jewel box. I will also throw in a pair of brand new ssm-1 shockmounts, which fit these mics perfectly. I have used these mics about 10 times, and bought them originally for $1900 last September. Im looking to get $1600 for both bodies and both caps together. Also, I am selling a pair of Oktava MC012's which I purchased about a year ago. I have the bodies, and pairs of cadioid, omni, and hyper caps to go with them. Id like to unload them all at once. Also, because I will no longer be needing these mics Ill throw in a free pair of large Ultra-screen windscreens which retail for $98. For this whole package, Im looking for $400 or best offer. Thanx and good luck bennat

From: "Eric R. McRoberts" <danks@bu.edu> Subject: Splicing Tape Date: Fri, 8 Feb 2002 13:45:45 -0500 Last night I had a D7 mangle the first set of a show I recorded. The tape was wrapped tightly around something in the deck and unfortunately in the dark when I was trying to get the tape out, it snapped. There were no patches and no other tapes made of this show so I am hoping to salvage something from this tape. What is the best method to splice the tape together? I tried scotch tape and got it together nicely, but my decks show errors when I try to play the tape. none of the decks can recognize any data on the tape. Did I ruin the tape? -Eric
From: "Mickey Forvey" <mysterytaper@hotmail.com> Subject: WEEN last night in Trenton, NJ Date: Fri, 08 Feb 2002 20:01:23 +0000 The MK4Vs, Sonosax and modified SBM1 made a great tape, front and center last night at the Ween show. One acoustic set, one electric set. 3 CDs. I don't think they are on tour, so this quick-notice show probably ought to get out there. I would like to trade for something along the lines of Earth Wind and Fire, Isley Brothers, Curtis Mayfield, or some disco like the Bee Gees or other Saturday Night Fever era crap. Please email me if you've got something you'd like to swap for this show. Thanks By the way, were there any other tapers there? _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
From: Judson_Maurer <judsonm@gsdl.com> Subject: Use of a minidisc for a mic pre-amp to DAT Date: Fri, 8 Feb 2002 15:17:58 -0500 I have both a Dat and Minidisc. I went to a show the other week that didn't allow taping. I tried to plug my stealth mics directly into my Aiwa HD-S100 DAT but could not get a signal. Most likely b/c of the lack of power for the pre-amp (I checked the manual but didn't find specs on the pre-amp). My minidisc (Sharp MT-877) seems to power these stealth mics fine. My question is if I use the minidisc to power the mics and run a line out or headphone jack of the minidisc to the Dat recorder would the music be compressed before it went to the Dat? If so it seems pointless to do this. I plan to build a battery box for the stealth mics but I was looking for a quick fix. Keep It Live, Taylor
