Hello all,
I have been in a Billy Joel mood lately, ever since seeing him and Elton in Hartford. I recently converted a fantastic soundboard to disc and want to offer up the show for trade.
Billy Joel 6/84 Wembley Arena London,England Soundboard
It is on 2 discs and sounds fantastic. It is the entire show from the Innocent Man tour and has the horn section. I would like to trade for Billy shows including with Elton. E-mail me at jagabrieljr@aol.com. My list is a work in progress if you look at it.
Peace, Jim

I've been playing around with the latest Shorten, 2.3b, and have noticed a
huge discrepancy in performance between Win98 and Win2000 or XP. Like,
approx. 10X faster in Win2K than Win98 on the same machine, dual
booting. Actually it's 20X faster on my machine because it has dual
processors, both of which Shorten pegs to 100% in Win2K, but only one of
which is used in Win98. But even allowing for that, it's still 10X faster
with no difference but the OS. Has anyone else noticed this? Or do I
have some obscure bottleneck in my Win98 setup. In Win98 with a Celeron
300a running at 450MHz, Shorten goes at about 2X real time, whereas in
Win2K with both processors it's about 40X real time. On my other machines
with 1.2-1.5GHz Athlons and WinXPPro it's even faster-- 60-75X real time.

I'm interested in using CE2000 to improve audience recordings of acoustic
music that have the fairly common problem of applause much louder than the
music. But there are many settings in the Compressor that I don't know
much about-- attack times, look-ahead time, graphical option, etc. Any
suggestions for a basic configuration to bring quiet music and loud
applause into better balance?

Hi,
After many years of being a DAT-Heads subscriber, it's great to let you
know that we are releasing a new portable mic preamp into the US market.
It has a lot of features, even if it's basically a high quality simple
stereo portable preamp with:
- Balanced mic level XLR inputs
- Unbalanced line level outputs
- Gain toggle switch
- Internal 48v phantom power
- Bass-cut switch
- Internal power: two 9v batteries
- Clipping LED
- Low battery LED alarm
- Diecast aluminum box
- Optional leather case
Price is $450 with case and $400 without the case.
You can have a look at: http://www.preciseaudio.com/
Having a feedback from DAT users would be great.
This preamp would be a great mate for a walkman type DAT or for a portable
MD. In fact the case has a pocket where you can put an MD in. DV cameras
will also improve by using this preamp, particularly those having no audio
level setting.

Hi all,
This is the weekend of conversion. I just blew the dust off an old analog master from Bruce Hornsby in 1987. I converted it to disc and must say for an analog it sounds quite nice. I think it is the only copy of this show that exists and it has never been traded. It is on 2 discs and I will trade for it. E-mail me at jagabrieljr@aol.com. My list is a work in progress.
