From: artood2 <artood2@shaw.ca> Subject: are you iso an old web page \ trader list etc??? Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 08:42:21 -0800 if you are looking for an old trading partners list and know the now defunct url you can "time travel" courtesy of the internet wayback machine http://web.archive.org/collections/web.html got to the above url and type in the the applicable url . Works great to see your favorite bands website in the early days and trace it s evolution. and a side note RE the bad trader w same name I'd say screw him if he is honest people will make their own judgement. While I'm far from being a lawyer I'd say you have nothing to fear his address while similar is not the same and I seriously doubt any court in the UK let alone anywhere else could affect change to your web page if it is not slander or libel then its really tough cookies for him . view my DAT, CDR and VHS Lists at www.avroland.ca/dtc

From: "T.J. Hoffman" <mhoffmanhsd@earthlink.net> Subject: ISO: PETER ROWAN IN TACOMA Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2002 16:08:11 -0500 Hey Guys, Peter Rowan played two nights at the Tacoma Sheraton in Tacoma, Washington last weekend [February 22 & 23]. I'm looking for any recordings of this most recent "Reggae-billy" event. I have an extensive CDR list from which to trade for the shows..... Thanks, Tim.
From: "Matt" <matt@mattb.net> Subject: Lensic Center Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 14:55:03 -0700 I just saw that MMW are playing the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe (www.lensic.com) on 4/13. I think I'm going to try and make it down there for the show and tape it with my M1. First of all, has anyone here ever taped there? I'm going to see if I can use my MC012's and get them on stage, but if that fails it seems like they may not want a stand in there (it's very fancy looking) so I might have to use the Sound Pro AT933's in a hat or something. I've emailed them and the person who responded didn't know the policy because no one has asked before. So they say they will get back to me. The theater has a balcony, which might be a good option if they let me go non-stealth. I could put a mini tripod on the front of the balcony with the t-bar and MC012's, or wear a hat (with the mini mics) from there. Does anyone have advise for me? I was hoping I could talk them into letting me plug my mics into something on stage and pick up the signal back by the board somewhere. If I can do that, what would you folks recommend for configuration? Cardioids or spaced omni? ORTF, XY, or what? Do I power the mics (PS-2) from way back by the deck or up front by the mics? I've taped a bit in the last few years, but the Oktavas have only been out once so far. How do any of you who have done this usually set up? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Tickets go on sale March 8th and I'd like to know what to go for by then (up front, front of balcony, etc). Thanks in advance! Matt WBT: MMW Turntable Sessions at the Boulder Theater 2-20-02. MC012's > PS-2 > M1 on one 90m. (I didn't unbalance the signal, so it's a little low on the levels, but very listenable IMO and the next one will be properly unbalanced!) I'll take the first few to respond...

From: "Slipkid" <slipkid@voicenet.com> Subject: thanks for the bad trader weirdness feedback Reply-To: "Slipkid" <slipkid@voicenet.com> Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 19:23:19 -0500 i just want to say "thanks" to everyone that responded to me with their comments about my post last night (regarding the guy complaining that he had the same name as someone i warned about as a bad trader & that this has cast aspersions on his good name, or whatever nonsense) i thought some people would be interested in hearing about this and expressing their views, but this generated alot more response than i thought i would get so far today i got about 30 emails regarding it 2 people think i should just take the bad trader warning, or the entire bad trader page down, that either the hassle involved like this is jsut not worth it, or that getting ripped off is just part of the whole trader thing & it is not necessary trying to warn other people (for whatever reasons though, i personally believe that it is my right, and my DUTY, to try to warn others of my own bad experiences on my own website & let them make up their own minds if they want to deal with those people...i don't clutter up trader groups or shout about people being bad traders from the mountaintops or anything, i just mention it on my webpage for people who trade with me to read if they are interested) the majority opinions are that this guy is either a moron who has no right to complain to me about this, or that he is probably the same jerk that ripped me off in the first place playing head games people have made alot of good points, mostly enforcing what i already thought, plus gave some new wrinkles for me to think about my favorite comment so far is this one regarding the guy's "common" name: "Tell him to contact his mother and ask why she chose something so common. If not, he wouldn't be in this trouble.)!!!" at this point i have decided to do - NOTHING i will wait & see if i get any grief from my ISP (which has nothing to do with any of this), the domain that hosts my webpage content (only my index page is at my ISP), or what else this person may do the more i think about this, the less i believe he can possibly be sincere....his reaction just makes NO SENSE to me at all...who in their right mind would bother complaining about a pipsqueak webpage that tells a story about a bad encounter with someone of the same name, and same hometown, especially when the worst that could happen to them is that someone would not want to trade with them, and they do not even trade anyway??? if this person is sincere in their email to me, then i think they are mentally imbalanced & want to avoid all contact with them!!! let them go ahead & try to "force me" to remove my webpage!! they will get laughed off the planet!!! in light of the interest this generated, if anything further develops from this i will post about it thanks again everybody! DATHEADS continues to be a great source of all kinds of knowledge!! - jon - slipkid@voicenet.com

From: Ivan <ik1013@yahoo.com> Subject: DAT > SonicPort > CDWav HELP! Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 20:06:27 -0800 (PST) Hey everyone, OK this is starting to frustrate me. After 3 years of pretty much flawless transfers using this setup: DA-20mkII > Opcode SonicPort > CDWave > HD in Win98SE I am now getting very small 'clicks' in my recordings...I've tried EVERYTHING- reinstalling the SonicPort drivers, defrag, Norton virus scan, removed a download manager (D/L Accelerator) in case of spyware, ran a cleaning tape, etc. But I still get these very small, RANDOM, clicks when I play back the recording- even before resampling. Anyone that has had any similar problems or can offer any suggestions? This is driving me nuts.... Peace, Ivan ik1013@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? From: "mark t weygandt" <mtwnet@hotmail.com> Subject: Delta Dio 2496 and WinXP Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 07:53:15 -0500 Has anyone gotten a Delta Dio 2496 to work successfully with Windows XP and an Athlon system? I don't appear to have any IRQ conflicts but I still get a constant static throughout my recordings when dumping a DAT to the hard drive. Even jacking up my DMA buffer to the max doesn't completely eradicate the problem (although it does seem to get better). Cool Edit Pro doesn't appear to have any settings that could help. I'm running a fresh install of WinXP, and I'm using the latest drivers from M-Audio. Oddly enough, one of the fixes they mention is "crackle on playback with Via chipsets". _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
