Oddly enough, one of the fixes they mention is "crackle on > playback with Via chipsets". Are you SURE you don't have any irq confilicts? By default, WinXP tries to assign all it can to irq 9. Yes, sharing interrupts is supposedly OK, but it doesn't always work that way. See if you are running in ACPI mode, and if you are then try to disable it. WARNING! if ACPI is enabled, disabling it is a drastic step that requires reinstallation of all drivers. The best method of disabling ACPI is to do a complete reinstall after you disable ACPI in the bios. If you can't disable ACPI in the bios, then when you reinstall press F5 at the very beginning where it says to press F6 to install a SCSI driver. Then from the list of choices it gives you, choose Standard PC. Even if you can disable ACPI in the bios, you should do the F5 thing when you install, because Windows may just decide to do ACPI anyway. In Win2000 to see if you are running in ACPI mode, right click on My Computer, choose Properties, choose the Hardware tab, press the Device Manager button, then press the Plus sign next to Computer. I forget what it says if ACPI is enabled, but if it doesn't say Standard PC, then you're probably in ACPI mode. Do a search for ACPI on the internet for more info. -steve ------------------------------ From: Dave Cohen Subject: FS: Tascam DA-20mkII Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 10:19:57 -0500 I'm selling off my second DA 20mkII. Club D'Elf tapers Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 15:19:46 -0600 am fowarding this on....tc John Medeski is doing his second 1 week tour with Club d'Elf at the end of March. Club d'Elf is among Boston's finest group of musicians, pulling from star cast of players on the east coast. The band is in need of tapers to record the shows and I am in search of people who with quality equipment who are willing to make a commitment to tape the shows. I can get 1 person per show on the guest list in exchange for a DAT copy for the bands archive. Details about the tour are below. I have sent some individual emails out to tapers, but if you did not get one from me directly you are welcome to reply. These shows will be killer. I will only be able to make the New York City show and possibly the Phily show, so the others will need to be recorded by some trained individuals. Please check out clubdelf.com for more information on the band. If you would like to hear one of their shows before going, also drop em a line and I will provide you with one of my favorite recordings. OR, you could watch the webcast of the show tonight from the lizard lounge in Cambridge if you go to clubdelf.com and fallow the links(and you may even see me on it). The tour schedule is below. Please check it out. This will be a quality musical experience for all. I am having trouble posting to datheads so if anyone is on that list here could you please forward it to the digest for me? Thanks!! -Eric we will be going on tour at the end of march for our first foray into the south. the touring band will consist of: mat maneri ( violin & viola ), brahim fribgane ( oud, vocal, perc ), john medeski ( keys ), mister rourke ( turntables ), mike rivard ( bass ) & eric kalb ( drums ). it will be sweet to have brahim back for this one, and it's always great to have medeski when his schedule allows. mat and mr. rourke : not bad, either. eric kalb is on loan from deep banana blackout and we're happy to have him along. here's the itinerary: Sunday, March 24, 2002 Falls Church, Virginia State Theatre 703 237 0300 www.waltherproductions.com set #1: 900pm 1000pm set #2: 1030pm 1130pm $14 advance / $14 dayof-show Monday, March 25, 2002 Charlottesville, Virginia Starr Hill Music Hall 434 977 0017 www.starrhill.com set #1: 900pm 1000pm set #2: 1030pm 1130pm $12 advance / $15 dayof-show Tuesday, March 26, 2002 Asheville, North Carolina Asheville Music Zone 828 255 8811 www.concertwire.com set #1: 900pm 1000pm set #2: 1030pm 1130pm $10 advance / $12 dayof-show Wednesday, March 27, 2002 Atlanta, Georgia Echo Lounge 404 681 3600 www.echostatic.com/echolounge/ set #1: 900pm 1000pm set #2: 1030pm 1130pm $10 advance / $12 dayof-show Thursday, March 28, 2002 Athens, Georgia Georgia Theater 706 549 9918 www.jomoentertainment.com set #1: 1000pm 1100pm set #2: 1130pm 1230am $10 advance / $12 dayof-show Friday, March 29, 2002 Carrboro, North Carolina Cat's Cradle 919 967 9053 www.catscradle.com set #1: 930pm 1030pm set #2: 1100pm 1200am $10 advance / $12 dayof-show Saturday, March 30, 2002 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Theater of the Living Arts 215 922 1011 www.electricfactory.com set #1: 1015pm 1115pm set #2: 1145pm 1245am $13.00 advance / $14.50 dayof-show Sunday, March 31, 2002 New York, New York Mercury Lounge 212 260 4700 www.mercuryloungenyc.com set #1: 900pm 1000pm set #2: 1030pm 1130pm $12 advance / $15 dayof-show _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ From: Subject: Looking for some Sabbath Date: Thu, 28 Feb 2002 16:40:03 -0500 (EST) Hey All: It's been months since I have done any trading, and I am looking to expand my musical horizons. I recently bought a cheap DTC1000ES, which seems to work just fine and is in good clean condition. But I cannot get it to record either in analog or digital at 44.1kHz. I've tried open circuiting D721, as discussed in previous DATHEADS messages, and possibly as implemented in the HHB mod, which usurps the "timer" fornt panel switch to do this. But although this does eliminate the "COPY INHIBIT" warning from the display when trying to use the digital input at 44.1kHz, it still doesn't enable the transport or VU meters. It makes no difference at all in the analog mode. Anyone offer advice or information as to whether the machine can be made to tape at 44.1kHz, analog or digital, and if so, how? My main interest is in being able to use the machine in analog mode at 44.1kHz (for making live recordings suitable for subsequent CD transfer). Reading through previous message threads makes me wonder if this is too early a version of the DTC1000ES to permit what I want. I may be able to exchange the machine for a slightly later model if this is the case. Does anyone know if manuals are available for these machines (or can anyone offer a low cost photocopy ?) Any info or assistance gratefully received. They are going to play their album '69 lovesongs' all the way through, from start to finish (all 69 songs!). If I wasn't 5000 miles away in Hawaii, I would surely tape it myself. :-) Anyway, if anyone does snag a tape of either night, please do get in touch. I don't have the exact date, but it probably was within the last couple of weeks. I am especially interested in this show because I heard that they covered the Tori Amos song 'Cornflake Girl', and I am a huge Tori Amos fan. If anyone has this show I would love to trade for a copy. I could do a B&P or an even trade (although I have no moe.). I am kind of a newbie to the whole BTAT scene, I have been a 'stealth' DAT taper for about three years now. But now, I'm not so sure what they really are. Are these electret capsules or do they need phantom power? Unfortunately, the Sennheiser site isn't much help for me, the instruction manuals I can download there only tell how to connect these to the Sennheiser cables and what cables to use. The only interesting bit I've found is the following pdf document about how to wire electret capsules (mainly the MKE2): http://buy.sennheiserusa.com/ASP/Sennheiser/pdf/mke2wiring.pdf There, the ME104 is also mentioned. But does this mean I can connect the ME102 as shown in the left schematic in the document?
