It is in excellent condition. It has the Oade Brothers performance upgrade. Go to www.oade.com/dat/audiocenter/upgradedap1.html to read about the upgrade. I will include two eco-charge batteries, a charger, and a official Tascam service manual. Also, I still have the original box and owner's maual. Brand new all of this would cost about $1900. I'm looking to get $1000. Brian Conner

From: Eduardo Malvido <eduardomalvido@yahoo.com> Subject: OKMII/R with M1 settings Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 12:32:23 -0800 (PST) Hello With my same topic regarding the settings of OKMII/R and a M1: I have recived some recomedations from other fellow tapers, some tell me to use LINE while others tell me to use MIC, the majority says LINE IN I have tested both ways: I found that when I tape with LINE the taping is fine and also have to turn more my level knob but....there is something missing...... On MIC the result has more "Treble", sounds richier and crispier thus sounds better. yeah I know they have told me to tape with LINE IN but with MIC sounds slightly better Anyway....... just wanted to let everyone know this tests and again new recomendatiosn are welcome! Thanks to everyone that already helped me (you know who you are) Ed :-) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! There's lots of other programs, but like you if I wanted to do basic edits of a stereo track I would prefer to work with a two track editor like Peak on a Mac or Cool Edit 2000on a PC. Also, there is a plug-in for Peak called "Raygun" which is a pop-crackle and hum filter. That's $99 by itself. Supposed to be pretty good. --Dan

From: PAUL HOVORAK <washaufizzi@yahoo.com> Subject: Matrixing a SBD-Mic combo Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 18:59:12 -0800 (PST) I have mainly been a lurker for a couple of years now and need a consensus of expert advise from this vast base of knowledge. I recently taped a show of a hot new band in the Jamband scene called Loco Macheen from Emporia, Ks. The setup was Rode NT1>TubePAk>ADC20>PCM2500A(r) SBD>ADC20>PCM2500A. The Rode was plased overhead front center of stage. I was wondering what the best way to mix this down is. I have access to Protools and a Roland Vs880. I am aware of the old trick of mixing it mono, then giving one side a 25%wet 75%dry reverb with the other side 75%wet 25%dry, but I was looking for a modern way of doing this. Maybe a Plug-in I'm missing for Protools. The SBD was only vocals, harmonica, fiddle. To the first respondee with the solution I use- BWT: LOCO 3.2.02 Feild House Wichita, KS DAT,CD,SHN via Ftp You Pick. Paul Hovorak __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? From: Eric Angel <ejangel@ucdavis.edu> Subject: FS: Oade bros active 7-pin I/O cable Date: Mon, 4 Mar 2002 23:49:46 -0800 I have a used Oade bros active 7-pin I/O cable (black connector with analog/digital switch), that I'd like to sell or trade for an optical cable. I need the Sony 7-pin optical cable that has TOSLINK connectors in and out. My cable is in great condition. I'm selling it because I'd like to use the optical output of my A/D instead of the stupid 1/8" mini SPDIF. Make me an offer if you want it. Keep in mind that a new one just sold on ebay for $186, and that auction claimed that one sold for $250 a few weeks ago. I'm not expecting that much, but don't be an idiot and offer me $50 for it. You can no longer buy this cable from Oade bros (unless you also buy a new Sony DAT deck from them). Thanks, Eric p.s. I can send a picture of the actual cable if you want.

I'm not expecting that > much, but don't be an idiot and offer me $50 > for it. You can no longer buy this cable from > Oade bros For what it was worth, I was a little unhappy with the person who posted "hurry up and bid on this it might be your only chance" and then had the auction saying "a used one sold for $250." I am glad Eric is not resorting to that. The selective mentioning of only high prices smacks to me of trying to create a market, drive up the price off other DAT-heads. While I don't think that is Eric's intent, I do not want to see that happen in general. If you want to auction a 7-pin cable or something that has become harder to find and the best price possible is important, I do suggest ebay and ask that you not post more than one announcement of the auction here. For those who really really want this and will pay any amount, ebay is the place. You will get instant gratification. For the rest, they do pop up occasionally for less if you wait and you should still be willing to compensate the seller well. If you are going to post here, pick a price which you think compensates you adequately for this thing of value (heck it could be $300), but don't encourage dat-heads bidding against each other. Also saying "one sold for $... on ebay" is somewhat unbalanced. Another DAT-head recently sold me one for $100 and I think we are both happy. [I did have an advantage because I saw the posting before the digest came out, but the digest is a fairly level field.] Also, for what its worth. I believe both Cascade (out of stock) and Masterpiece (in stock) sell Pro Dig 7 pin cables for less than the auctions. Len Moskowitz sells his core-sound cables for less. It might be helpful if these folks post about availablity and compare their cables vs. the oade. This is a free market, but a few are now selling aother's work for profit. If they wanted the Oades could probably sell them for $200, but have continued to make the cables available to DAT-heads buying a deck. The spirit of their business is to get as many people plugged in as possible, so we need to pay some deference to that on DAT-heads. So just respect your fellow DAT-heads and post a price which you are comfortable so that the cable gets out into a taper's section soon. If you need a way to level the playing field instead of getting the first response, ask them the first band and date they will tape and pick the person who's interests match yours. Sean PS If anyone has a spare AD1000 cable with the SPDIF breakout, I am looking for one...
