Subject: FS: Sony PCM-M1 w/ 7Pin and Ecocharge
Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2002 09:49:11 -0500
Just purchased from masterpieceav 8 months ago. Perfect condition with
about 40-50 hours of use.
With Sony 7-Pin active I/O cable. Also Ecocharge 6V with 4.5V adapter cable
and a/c charger.
Includes a/c adapter, battery charger, manual, etc. that came with the deck.
$825 OBO.
Great deal. Ecocharge battery and 7Pin cable alone are worth $300, and the
4.5V adapter cable was purchased for $25 less than a month ago. Can't
really beat $500 for an M1.
If I don't get an offer of $825, I'll take the highest offer as of next
Friday (if it's reasonable...if I get 1 offer of $400, I obviously retain
the right to decline :-) ).
I will also consider selling the deck alone or just with the cable and not
the battery.
Drop me a line if you're interested.

I=92m looking at possibly going to HD recording to replace DAT. Can
anyone who has researched this contact me and let me know the state of
affairs? Is the new NOMAD recording-worthy? I feel a little out of the

Hey Now!
The other day I had a message from SCI-Ticketing that they had a number of
customers order TAPERS tix by mistake for the upcoming Spring Cheese Tour.
They asked me to give them a call and confirm that I would actually be
taping the shows that I planned on attending......
Yeah!
I called to confirm........
I got shut out for TAPERS for the 420 show and could not even get ANY ticket
for that show when I was finally able to place my order online (the day they
went onsale).....
After learning the above information, I asked if there were any TAPERS tix
available for 420 and the answer was:
Hell Yeah!
I ordered 2!!
Now, my buddy (Motel 69) and I am in for both 420 and 421....
SO...... If you got shut out when ordering online etc...
Give SCI-Ticketing a call and ask them if they still have TAPERS tix for the
show you need.
You just might be pleasantly surprised!

Does anyone here use a digital camera at shows to take pics? What works
well in the $300-400 range when you're about 40' from the stage.... a lot of
the cameras I've compared on the internet look like a good deal but the
customer reviews invariably say "works poorly in low light conditions". I'm
not expected pro shot quality from the stage area but it would be nice to
get some zoom detail.
thanks, scott

Subject: Are There Any Traders Out There?????
Date: Thu, 07 Mar 2002 11:18:52 EST
I've been subscribing to Datheads for a while now, and I must be honest...I'm bored. Doesn't anybody talk about trading anymore? Don't get me wrong, I do see a small representation of people offering up a new show here & there that they recorded, but what I mostly see is posting after posting on mics, equipment, etc. Lets get back to the real deal....ripping tunes for each other. Don't bore me with the technical babble.
I've been actively trading since the mid 70's, and it just feels to me that we are losing focus on what we are all in this for....the music.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure all you guys are wonderful people....this is not a judgement call on character.
Maybe I am on the wrong site. If you feel my efforts would be better served on another group, I would welcome the suggestion of other web sites to focus on. I would appreciate it if you would pass on some suggestions.
However, if you want to do some trading, and your list or web site is easy to read, and your collection consists of high quality shows, please drop me a line at (mexminute@aol.com).
Many thanks,
Mitchell

Subject: Re: Bad Trader Brouhaha disappoints
Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2002 11:31:40 -0500
I feel that it is obvious that this guy is the wrong "bad trader" and he is
attempting to clear his name just as anyone who has a bad mark on their
credit report would also do.
I get absolutely no sense that he is the guy you think is a "bad trader"
from reading his emails that you have posted.
Thomas Wulf's comments about many people sharing the same name is very true.
I also have found that there are other Michael Otto's in my small town, even
another patient at my doctors office, yet I've never met or seen another by
that name. It is totally believable that MK is victim of mistaken identity,
and once he has told you of that error, you are deliberatly defaming his
name by continuing to post it without making sure your "bad trader" is
identified as someone other than this MK.
I don't think the real "bad trader" would bother to write and try so hard to
clear his name. It would have been much simpler to just send you the two
CDs he owes you. Instead, I think that this guy is an innocent person
having his name and reputation irresponsibly besmirtched without checking
the facts to remove all reasonable doubt. If I was him I'd be very angry
too.
He is completely within his rights to attempt to have your ISP shut you
down, and he might even be successful if he threatens a lawsuit against
them. They don't want to spend money defending a suit, just to save one
(probably small) account.
Some of the reasons I've seen posted here to supposedly argue that he is
really the "bad trader" are very shallow and, frankly, plain stupid. To
assume that nobody else would care except a trader that his name is
available on the internet in a negative way, when it can be found easily on
Google, is patently dumb. Anyone who is honest and cares about his
reputation would care. And to assume that because he knows enough to
mention copyright laws and RIAA is enough to prove he is the guilty person
is again pretty unthinking. These issues have been all over the media ever
since Napster and anyone tuned in to the media would know about them.
I cannot believe that this list is populated with so many mean spirited,
vindictive, and untrusting persons. This disappoints me more than any bad
trader does.

I am in the middle of a couple of trades, but if you have any of the
following, please
e-mail me if you are interested in a trade. I have a variety of
alternative/indie/rock shows to offer.
1) Michael Hedges- *anything*, FM or SBD preferred. If it's a great audience
tape that's fine too, just nothing shabby. I have one show I can offer from
Somerville Theater in Tennessee, circa 1997. It's great, and I can send you
the audio or a DVD with the complete audio/video.
2) Nico-need some help here: does anything exist of her doing songs from
"Chelsea Girl"? TV apperance, anything? This is around 1967-68. "Chelsea
Girl" is a wonderful album if you haven't heard it. They used two songs from
it on the soundtrack to the recent Wes Anderson movie, "The Royal
Tennenbaums". That whole soundtrack is fantastic, with Bob Dylan, Elliott
Smith, Nick Drake and many others.
3) Thurston Moore-looking for a show or two where he performed material from
"Psychic Hearts". This would be around 1995. I have Sonic Youth/Thurston/Jim
O' Rourke masters to trade.
Thanks,
Wes

Subject: Sony TCD-D7 / PCM-M1 digital connector voltage difference
Date: Thu, 7 Mar 2002 11:08:44 -0800 (PST)
Hello, I recently purchased a Sony TCD-D7 deck and am looking forward
to be taping some shows. A friend and I were discussing copying DATs
using the 7-pin digital connector and a digital coax cord. His deck
is a PCM-M1 and he told me his deck would be able to record off of my
D7, but my D7 would not be able to tape off of his M1 because of
voltage differences. He also told me that at shows, I have to be sure
to join the correct daisy chain, or my digital recording would not
work.
Could someone explain to me what the voltage differences are and why
I should be concerned?
Thanks a lot!

putting a rig together, and have most everything picked out. however, i am
not going to put much money (if any) into an a/d converter right now because
of future plans. this rig is going to run into a d8 (mostly for stealth
applications). i did a search on the archives, and only saw one post about
this a/d box, but couldnt find any follow up.
anyone know anything about this device? is the d8 onboard a/d converter
better than this device? is this worth the 100 bucks? please mail on or
