This is a real shot in the dark but I was hoping to find a copy of The Who
at Alpine Valley 7/22/89 on CD-R or DAT. If you have it, I have plenty to
trade.

hello one and all
Mahavishnu Project, founded by leader/drummer Gregg Bendian, are undertaking
a tour to promote their new CD "Live Bootleg" culled from 2001 shows. If you
have not heard already, the group covers Mahavishnu Orchestra and some Jerry
Goodman/Jan Hammer materials. And the shows are definetely hot!!! Come see
for yourself.
Band personnel:
Gregg Bendian on drums
Steve Hunt on keys
Stephan Crump on bass
Todd Reynolds violin
Pete McCann on guitar
==========================
Taping Policy---I have contaced Gregg personally and he says:
"regarding taping, things are a bit different now. Firstly, we now have a CD
out. The tour is our way of launching the disc. We kind of feel there should
be some GOOD FAITH on the part of the tapers in at least 3 ways:
1. that they should buy a CD AND
2. fill out and sign the mailing list at the merch table, notating that they
have taped the show
3. send us a CDR of the show
also, except for dates noted, the other band for the night will be a 'Duo' or
'Trio'. This will consist of David Sancious with Will Calhoun (Duo) and Doug
Wimbish (Trio). That's right, what a night. ***Please note that I have no
idea whatsoever what Mr Sancious' position is as regards taping.***
DATES:
Sat 3/23 Bottom Line NYC 730 + 1030 with Trio [.bottomlinecabaret.com]
March 28 Johnny Ds Somerville MA 9pm w/ Trio [johnnyds.com]
March 29 Met Cafe Providence RI (back of Lupos) w/ Trio [lupos.com]
Sat 3/30 Orion Sound Studios Baltimore MD w/ Trio [progrock.net]
April 3 The Saint NJ with Big Mechanical Bull [thesaintnj.com]
4/4 Rochester NY Milestones w/ Duo [milestonesmusicroom.com]
4/5 Tralf Buffalo NY w/ Duo [tralf.com]
4/6 Toronto Comfort Zone w/ Duo [comfortzoneto.com]
4/7 Burlington VT Higher Ground (w/ Topaz?) [highergroundmusic.com]
Hope to see some new and old faces at the shows and that everyone should
spread the good word about the tour and the 2 bands in particular. And let's
live by the very gracious policy and make sure the discs get there. Enough
said.

In response to an earlier post about how to change a player to multi region, go to www.noexpress.com. They sell Sampo
brand dvd players, which let you "change" some options, that being one of them. The one I have works good, and plays vcd's
where some "name" brand players won't.

Subject: Rodney Crowell, Richard Thompson-Mtn. Stage

Hey Now All!
Just wondering if anybody is a fan of Mountain Stage
and records any of the shows? Todays show with Rodney
Crowell, Richard Thompson and others was a wonderful
blend of tunes. Did anybody tape it? I would love a
copy so write me and lets make a trade.
Also If anybody has any HQ Rodney Crowell or Richard
Thompson please drop me a note. I went to see Rodney
last summer and as an opener he had Jerry Jeff Walker.
Now Jerry Jeff was very anti-taper so I did not even
get to ask Rodney if I could tape until after the
show. My lady and I went to have him sign a couple of
CDs and she stated that it was too bad we were going
home without a copy of a wonderful performance. He
asked what she meant and she said we wanted to tape
his performance and that we really enjoy his music and
wanted some live. She than said not only do we get to
enjoy a great live show but because we would trade it
then he would get more recognition! He replied"
Recognition!? Hell I don't know what I'd do if I ever
got any recognition! "
So please go out and tape this great singer/song
writer and share his music with all you know! He, like
Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark, Lucy Kaplansky, Cheryl
Wheeler, Towns Van Zandt ( RIP) and so many more do
deserve the recognition they have not gotten. Bigger
name performers play/sing these peoples music and
become big time but these folks just keep on plugging
away, just happy to have an audience.
Cheers Lads and Lassies and may you be in Heaven
half an hour before the Devil knows your Dead! Happy
Saint Patricks Day!
Peace, Michael
PS B/W tax offers will be offered next week... hehe
haha hoho :-}
