Been out of the scene for almost 1.5 years...Looking to get back into it
with some casual trades....Looking for TOOL shows ONLY!!! Please, Tool
shows only. I won't answer e-mail if it doesn't pertain to TOOL (Unless
you're an old School Black Crowes trading buddy of mine) ....Cool...My game
plan is to trade in a casual manner.....I don't want to feel the effects of
burnout again....Small trades...E-mail me for a list and let me know if you
want Text or Excel......I have tons of stuff to offer, but my focus is on
TOOL....Don't E-mail me if you aren't trading TOOL....Thanks...

Went in with a stand here in Santa Cruz and got shot down immediatly. I was
told that JJ's manager didnt advise letting him tapethis tour. i have no
idea if that was true or if the guy was full of it. In any case I would
come prepared to stealth.

Hello All,
Looking for a couple Mark Knopfler broadcasts from his tour last year.
The Toronto show was broadcast on radio in Canada I guess a couple weeks
ago - I am hoping someone recorded it straight to DAT/CD/HD from the digital
satellite broadcast!
Also I still haven't been able to find a really good recording of the two
KFOG broadcasts (I am told they were different) of the San Francisco show.
I did get one of the two from FM on DAT but it has some FM drift. Again,
I'm hoping someone was able to score this from cable/satellite radio or
perhaps pre-FM.
I can do DAT or CD-R, no problem. I'm not into heavy trading right now but
I'm sure I can get someone good tunes in exchange for the above ;)

Does anyone happen to know if there is a program that can turn Real Player
video files into DVD or VCD files?
Thanks!

Sigh.
The CMC34--Ds were purchased used from a German studio. I have never used
them, except in a home benchtest. They are in near condition.
The Aeta PSP3 was bought new from Cascade Media. I have never used it, except
in a home benchtest.
I throw the "D" tag on the mics because they are not standard XLR connectors,
they're dins. I have a couple 5feet canabalized Mogami cables I will throw in
for free though.
I would prefer to sell to one party unless I get really good offers on both. I
will pay for shipping anywhere in the world.
Reason for selling? Bought at a bad time in my finances and I can't afford to
keep them.

B&P grovel. I originally posted this request when their tour was ongoing,
maybe there are some finished shows out there now! Specifically looking for
the 6/13/01 Hollywood Bowl show but will definitely go for _anything_ off
that tour. Thanks!

I was able to tape Evan with a full rig on Friday night at Alley Katz in
Richmond, VA. I also ran the two openers Blake Hazard and Sheila Divine if
anyone's interested in those. The sound was just incredible. Source is DPA
4011s(suspended from the balcony and split 5ft)->Luminous
Monarchs->V2->AD2K->M1.
I know there might be some interest in this so I wanted to offer it up. I'm
not really interested in other Lemonheads or Evan unless you have some of the
sets where they opened for Soul Asylum in '92 but I'm always looking for DMB,
Jerry Joseph, and NRBQ that I do not have.
I also ran the Connells and Smithereens yesterday with the same rig fob. The
Connells have to be one of the most underrated bands ever but man do they
have great songs.

Subject: Thoughts on SHN trading
Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 12:41:28 -0500
Hello all,
I know that this is not entirely **on-topic** so please disregard if you
have problems with these thoughts presented on DAT-heads. Also, for
bandwidth tax I'll take a couple of people for any SHN's off my list on
phishhook (name=kevin_hatton).
I have gotten several SHN trades of late that have disturbed me to some
extent. I assume that in order to trade shn's that both the sender and the
receiver have computers and can to varying degrees use those computers for
the purpose of trading. However, there are several things that I don't
necessarily understand in SHN trades:
1) Why do 48->44.1 conversions? The point of shn's is to send unchanged
data from person to person with theoretically (and proven?) increases in
reliability over plain .wav's. In order for me to subsequently be able to
listen to the music I have 2 options. I can convert the shn to audio and
burn a cd to play through my conventional cd player or through a winamp
plugin directly from the shn. Of course, if the master was recorded in 44.1
then this issue is moot; however, if the original was recorded in 48 then
there is a big difference (bitwise) between conversion to wav for cd player
and the winamp solution. (This can also be applied to the 24/96 that is now
being recorded.) The ".wav way" will require some conversion of the
original bits using external software that at best distorts the original
bits and at worse completely changes them all. I suggest then, that for
trading shn that we trade unconverted wav files and allow the downstream
person to convert if they so desire. Thus perserving the greater "bit
accuracy." For me, my computer is directly connected to my home stereo and
so there is no direct need for 48->44.1 conversion.
2) Why break the shn disc on audio cd boundaries? Since the recipient
cannot directly use their shn in cd players directly, they will be required
to do some computer manipulation anyway, how difficult is it to direct the
burning software to split one cd with x tracks into 2 cds each with x
tracks? I know this may be a bit picky but I have received several shn's of
late that have been broken in the middle of a "nice long jam" with fade's in
and out. The entire set would have fit on one shn disc with plenty of space
left over. This does not seem to fit my concept of "unadulterated bits."
Again, we should trade without disc breaks and allow the downstream person,
if they so desire to make cuts and fades. If you really wanted to be nice
and take all the guesswork out for the downstream person you could include a
nice text file explaining in excruciating detail which tracks to include on
what disc and where to do fades.
If you've read this far, thanks for allowing me to think out loud. I value
your input both directly to my email and to the the list. I also apologize
if these thoughts are "stupid, rigid, or just too damn picky." Also, I hope
these thoughts have not been previously addressed, however, I'm pretty sure
I've never read them before.
Sincerely,
Kevin Hatton
