Television shows.....I got a nice recording of last nights 3/20/02 show, but

or 4400 portable reel-to-reel recorder before going digital?

I'm a previous owner of Core Sound's binaural and cardioid mics and I just
purchased a set of Soundman's OKMIIR mics. How are people mounting these
mics (other than stuffing them in your ears)? With the Cores, I usually
aimed both capsules at a stack by clipping them to my shirt collar or a
baseball cap. Alas with the OKM mics there is no clip.
Lastly, are there any Bob Mould DAT traders still out there?

Winnie,
One of the things I try in Sound forge is while the clapping is louder it's
easy to find were on the file it is. I go and highlite that area and then
do a volume drop on those sections before treating the rest of the wave
file. Time consuming but what else do I have to do?
All the best,
Jay

Would someone please explain when you would use the different caps for
these mics. I am pretty sure I understand when I would be using cardiods
vs. omnis.. but not sure how hypercardiods fit into the picture.
Could you give some examples of when you would choose one set of caps over
the other. (What types of music, settings, etc)
Trying to decide, if I bought these mics, if I would "need" the 3 cap set
or just buy the cardiods and the omni caps separately as an add-on.
I understand that entire books have been written on this subject and I'm
not looking for any kind of exhaustive explanation, just a quick rundown.
Also, any advice on where to buy these from would be welcome. I know a lot
of people shy away from Guitar Center b/c the mics are not matched (right?)...
Thanks much!

hi,
ive got a sony m1 and have a question about tape speed. i tape stealth
exclusively. sometimes under great conditions, sometimes in venues with
crappy acoustics , ect. i never patch, never soundboard. in view of this,
do you think there is any advantage to using 48k over the 32k setting
,soundwise? my feeling is with a stealthed, AUD set up, it really isnt
optimized enough to take advantage of the 48 k, but i'd hate to be wrong and
not get the best tape i can. OTOH, swapping tapes is a pain, so maybe 32 is
the way to go?
thanks

I would expect to stealth - security getting in can tend to get pretty hairy
- once you are in there, you should be ok as long as you stay low key about
it.

I'm planning to tape Death Cab For Cutie tomorrow night, Thu 21 Mar, at the
Agora. The band allows taping - AUD and/or SBD. But the Agora webpage
states no recording devices allowed.
Anyone know if this policy is enforced?
Any chance I can get full gear and mic stand in?
Or should I expect to stealth?
Thanks for any help...

Anybody know a reputable place to get service on a DAP-1 at reasonable
prices? I usally have service done by the Doug Oade, but he recently had
surgery and isn't servicing decks at the moment.

Hi Folks -
A couple updates in regards to some posts we've seen this week on the list:
The Copywriter Live looks to be a very promising new product from
Microboards. One of the nicer features is when the first disk is one
minute from ending, the 2nd drive begins to record for a seamless transition
from one 80 min disk to another. Here is some more info:
http://www.cascademedia.net/cgi-bin/cmedia/copywriterlive.html
As for soundcards please check our digital soundcard page as we have dropped
our prices dramatically in the past month, and especially on the Egosys
products. I am happy to answer any specific questions on any card on our
site, feel free to contact me off list.
Thanks for the BW, and have a great day,
Frank
