It's all around in MP3 form but I'd like a clone of the actual advance CD. The album was cancelled and the label dropped her, but not before advance review copies went out, so I know its around. Anyone? Plenty of Patty Griffin, including other unreleased studio material to trade. Stu ------------------------------ From: sec1968@ezl.com Subject: the mighty GK Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 10:34:40 -0600 Hi all. If you're into Industrial type music, I have a show for you. Gravity Kills' new cd Superstarved came out this past tuesday, and I was at the release party to record the show, along with a couple video tapers. Jeff Scheel, the vocalist for GK, is very cool about recording their shows. This one clocked in at just over an hour, including a ? posed to each in the meet & greet line afterwards. If anyone's interested in trading, dat or cdr, please drop me a line. I'd like to get some other GK shows, or even some Stabbing Westward. We're not looking for a taper with a cheap rig, as we already have someone running Sharp ECM-MS907 > MD. We'd put you on the guest list, and pay you $15 for your time/equipment/tape/etc. You can check some mp3s out at www.davidandnathan.tk to decide if we're worthy of being taped or not =P Thanks! PCM-M1, low miles Wall wart, ni-mh charger & original manual Oade active 7pin > coax cable Asking $550 I hope that is fair. By the looks of Ebay, it is. www.nickspicks.com =A0 - FAQs on live recording and digital music =A0 - Gear reviews =A0 - Music Lists (for trade) www.cablemodeminfo.com =A0 - SOHO networking product reviews =A0 - Broadband/Wireless portal ------------------------------ From: jcarvalh Subject: OT: Looking for new CD player Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 22:48:06 -0500 (EST) Hello all, Sorry for this OT question: I am in the need of a new CD player with optical and coaxial (at a minimum optical). I also have one other requirement: a headphone jack. Hopefully there may be some excellent working used models out there that people would be interested in selling. I am trying to avoid the changers, and would rather have a single. I woud buy a DVD/CD is i could find one with a headphone jack. I need it to do CD>DAT clones when necessary and for casual CD listening on my desk while i work. Any hep or leads on a new or used unit around the 50.00 - 100.00 range would be appreciated. peace ps: my current one has a tray that needs help being opened (and staying on its track). If I could figure out how to fix it, it would stay :) --- Jeff ------------------------------ From: "Charles Quinn" Subject: Cable Clamp Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2002 22:55:49 -0800 This is interesting http://www.cableclamp.com/ available at participating Ace Hardware stores, Sears, and Walmart. Chuck Quinn ------------------------------ From: acffh Subject: Re: 48 vs 32 Date: Sun, 24 Mar 2002 03:39:07 -0600 I personally don't mind 48KHz at all. It's a little higher quality than 44.1Khz. . . maybe not noticeable to the ear, but if you ever need to do audio surgery, the 48000 has more resolution (about 10% more). In fact, i think all digital video is synched to 48KHz sound, so if you ever plan to make DVD's of your music, the 48K can be kept without resampling. 44.1 (or 32- echh) would have to be upsampled to synch to video (If I am not wrong about video's sample rate requirements- someone please correct me if I am!) 32KHz is a HUGE compromise and I would not prefer to get tapes made in that mode, if there is some alternative. Panasonic and Sony have two different formats for it anyhow, so the tapes aren't as compatible. Sometimes it's a must, especially in super-low-key situations, but I would think you could work a tape-switch into the concert experience.. . I have received tapes where LP mode got switched on, and honestly, it's a lot bigger pain than switching tapes! Not all sound cards can take a digital signal at 32... another thing to consider. .. I say stick to 44.1 if all you ever forsee is CD's, but use the 48 if there could be a video synch some day, or if you don't mind having the highest quality!!! take it easy! -tom Mike asked: > I've got a sony m1 and have a question about tape speed. i tape >stealth exclusively. sometimes under great conditions, sometimes in >venues with crappy acoustics , ect. i never patch, never >soundboard. in view of this, do you think there is any advantage to >using 48k over the 32k setting ,soundwise? my feeling is with a stealthed, AUD set up, it really isnt optimized enough to take advantage of the 48 k, but i'd hate to be wrong and not get the best tape i can. OTOH, swapping tapes is a pain, so maybe 32 is the way to go? -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ------------------------------ From: "Mr. Data" Subject: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Mot=F6rhead?= Date: Sun, 24 Mar 2002 11:32:20 +0100 Who wants to record for me on March 25th, Motörhead at BBC Radio 1 Rock Hour.
