Before spending money fixing an older deck which will very likely
just break again, or buying someone else's potentially troubled
deck on e-bay, a reminder that the DAT Store still has a few brand
new Fostex D5's for $594. Most likely, when this batch is gone,
they're gone for good...
The Fostex D5 is a very nice pro studio deck with a super-fast 4-
motor transport, totally SCMS-free (strips scms), optical in and
out, coaxial in (through an xlr jack), error counter, copies ID's from
CDs, 48/44.1/32K recording, etc.

OK, because of someone VERY generous on this list I was able to acquire
all 5 shows Dave did this past January. What I'd like to do is B&P three
copies of each show and branch them off to those who will in turn burn them
for others interested. They all sound really good, much better than the
show from last year with the 1-16-02 being FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!! I have not
had the chance to listen to every second of every show being that I just
received them Saturday so I cannot vouch that all are perfect, but from what
I've heard so far there are no problems. They were sent on Mitsui Gold
discs & will be sent out from me on Taiyo Yuden silvers so please send
blanks of equal quality. I'll reply to the first three people I get
requests from and try to arrange for the others to get in touch with those
who make the " Final Cut" Sorry, I had to make some Floyd reference
somewhere. I would really like a way to set this up so whoever gets these
shows passes them on so don't reply unless you're willing to branch these

Has anyone has compared SOX with Cool Edit Pro's resampling ability? I
do realize this thread revolves around DOS-based programs, but seing as
how this windoze-based program is what I use for resampling, I thought
I'd run it up the flag pole and see if there has been a comparison. CEP
is supposed to be the best and I use it regularly in place of my ZA2's
hardware resampling, simply because it's supposed to be better and I
want to do what's right when resampling from 48 to 44.1 for CD burning.
I do understand that the settings effect the outcome and I set the
quality level to 999. I also know I could get away with a smaller
number, but I'll put a whole show up for resample before I go to bed, so
any additional time invloved is really irrelevant, as an up to 3 hr show
is done well before I get up. Any insights from anyone who is among the
informed would be greatly appreciated.

taped Sheryl Crow last night here in Munich on the second of her two CD
release shows in Europe (the other one was 5 nights ago in London).
Tape came out excellent..Was on the right side of the stage where Peter
Stroud (guitar) and the two violin/violincello players were...

Hello friends
Sometimes when I insert a tape in my D7 and close the
latch, a buzzing sound appears, inmediately I unnplug
the unit, re-plug it and continues the loading
sequence without the buzzing, it works perfectly
Yesterday, I was cloning and found that it broke my
tape (luckily the blank one)
what is causing this? soloution?
anyone with a similar problem?

just to remind everyone of the upcoming tour of Mahavishnu Project and the
David Sancious trio or duo (Wil Calhoun and Doug Wimbish) .

Gregg Bendian, founder/drummer of Mahavishnu Project has said this about
taping----
since they have a new CD out ["Live Bootleg"] they are touring to promote it,
obviously. IF you want to tape, fine but these are the rules:
1. buy a CD AND
2. sign the mailing list at merch table and notate that you taped that show
3. send a CDR of the show
easy enough
Do not know what D Sancious' take on taping is though, so that is night of
show I guess.
