Hi Group,
Well, I have several of these classic machines, none of which work 100%. I
have played around with and cleaned them but little improvement has
resulted. Here's the scoop and any tech help would be appreciated. I am a
tech and have no problem dismantling the beasts to any level required to get
one going.
The machine with the fewest problems will be my first job. The only problem
it seems to have is that it won't go into record all of the time. Sometimes
it records no problem, sometimes you must hit the record button many times
and it will finally go into record. It seems to help sometime if you hit
play first, then stop the tape and then try record. It's really annoying not
being able to get into record when you really need it.
2nd problem. Sometimes the darn thing just stops while recording, completely
random. I have been using a large variety of (used) tapes as I was given
hundreds last year. They are mainly Verbatim, Maxell and Sony. Mostly 90M
but some 60M. I don't know if it's a tape problem or a transport problem.
3rd. When playing, stopping, fwding etc., the counter "mode" always changes
to "programm" from the "continuous" mode. Seems like switch bounce or power
supply noise may cause this, or is this normal?
Boy, any help to get one of these going would be great.
Thanks all.
Paul

I haven't seen any discussion of recording these shows or not. Is
taping going to be allowed and anyone planning to tape them? I have a
feeling the Wiltern Theater doesn't allow recording, I don't remember
seeing any recording there in the past.

Hi Folks,
I'm checking out for a few days and will be off line. I will be in
Cleveland during the Easter holy days and will return to the Kenai River by
April 12... Eric and Theo, I'm working on your recordings while I'm in
Cleveland as I have taken your recordings with me. May Gods Resurrection
give us all hope and blessings in this time of strife and wars especially
in the Middle East. Pray for Peace, Joe Ray

Due to an effort to simplify my rigs (and the fact that I am not taping
as much as I used to), I have the following gear for sale:
AKG mic setup containing: 480b bodies, ck61 caps, B&K windscreens, Audio
Magic Presto II cables, AT8410 shock mounts

Ecocharge Sigma 6 volt 2 battery system with charger

inquires can reach me off list at slipknot1@comcast.net for pricing info
The V2 and the mics have all packaging and manuals. Everything is in
excellent to like new condition.
Would like to move the mics as a complete package

Ok I have been looking for this show for almost 10 years or as long as I
have been collecting.
Please someone help me out . Let me get on with my life. I was told by more
than one person that this was taped on dat
in fact a Sony d10 ~ the old huge one !! the person who claimed to have it
only wanted Captain beefheart or quicksilver messenger service in return I
could not offer them
anything else... the person who supposedly taped it allegedly lived in or
moved to Hawaii and thats all I know.
I'd love of course a dat clone of this show but will happily accept a cdr or
analog tape. If you are this person or you know someone who taped this
on dat or analog Please put me in touch with them !!! if the tape does
exist I'm sure its sitting in drawer somewhere collecting dust I have
searched literally
hundreds if not thousands of lists and dealt with people who have the
largest Crowes collections going all to no avail.
I'll gladly make a worthwhile trade to anyone who can help
need bonemarrow? or a kidney I'm your guy ! (j\k) but seriously help me
out here.
and I know its frowned upon but I'm desperate I'll offer cold hard $$$$ if
a trade cant be worked out.

This post is just to warn people about a crook named Joe Russo, who =
ripped me off this past december. We set
up a trade, and I sent him 3 DATs full of stuff, he repeatedly said =
"I'll send your stuff in the morning", then he just stopped=20
replying to my emails. I have heard first hand from at least one other =
guy who he ripped of at the same time, and=20
I have also heard there were a handful more people ripped off (if not =
more). I hope these people will speak up
and post about him as well.
This guy has posted on this list, so please be aware that he is a =
criminal, and he is a liar.
He has a lot of email addresses, but these two seem to be used the most:
MAGICRIG@aol.com
Stereophonics92@aol.com
His mailing address is:
Joe Russo
23-92 Crescent Dr
Thiells, NY 10984
You've been warned! Don't let him continue this criminal behavior. It's =
such a shame when people like this
pop up, isn't it? It blemishes the whole hobby.
cheers.

Hey All,
Just got this from the band. You ought to check them out if you have the
chance. And if you'd like to tape, please contact me
(chris_melas@hotmail.com) and I may be able to get you in touch with the
band for free admittance or something. If you'd like to have a listen, I'd
be glad to put an mp3 (not enough upload capacity for .shn) copy of some
tracks from their album in my Morpheus shared file. Thanks so much for any
help.

I installed and used Toast Titanium, and I thought that the artifacts
at the track ID problem was eliminated. Not so. Improved, but I'm not
creating bit-actual clones, I'm sure. I hear an odd pop at some IDs.
This is consistent with repeated attempts. I revised the extensions
settings in OS 9 as was suggested.
The following is a warning box that I got in both OS9 and in OSX: 'The
currrently selected recorder has a minimum pause of 2 sectors between
audio tracks. Shorter pauses will be padded to the minimum length.'
Anyone that has a clue about this issue, please contact
liverich@sunlink.net Thanks. Rich
