I'm thinking about taping the Everclear frontman on his solo acoustic
tour at The Gargoyle in St. Louis Thursday night. Anybody ever been
there? Is it a safe neighborhood, how's security, etc...? Any help would
be much appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me off list.
Have a nice day, Danny

Subject: Taper Newbie ISO Dig. Sound Card help
Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2002 20:11:31 -0800 (PST)
Howdy, and let me apologize in advance if these types of
questions are asked way too often. I've tried researching
this topic, and I haven't been able to find too much.
I've got a simple MD rig, AT831 > SPbatt. box > Sharp
MT-99. I currently have a MD oldie, the Sony MZ-1 with a
digital output for conversions. The only thing missing is
my digital sound card for my computer. I'm on a pretty
tight budget. All I want is something with an optical in.
I've looked at the MIDIMAN DIO 2448, around $105. Not a
bad deal. But I've heard of cheaper things, such as the
Hercules Fortissimo II, that can be found here:
http://www.newegg.com
Just search for the Hercules Fortissimo II.
I've seen old reviews for the Zoltrix Nightengale (I'm not
sure if it's still available) and how it's really cheap and
what not.
While I am still only learning about taping and digital
audio, I am a stippler for preserving digital audio. I'm
all about EAC, original (no DAE) SHN's, and PROPER
CONVERSIONS. I just wanna make good conversions for my
tapes. If you can help with these products or even suggest
something else, I would truly appreciate it, and would be
glad to repay you with anything from my extensive DMB
original shn list. Email me or I'll be checking this list,
thanks again. :)

OK, this is very forward & maybe a little strange but it couldn't hurt =
to ask. The arrangements I had for myself & a good friend of mine to =
stay at someone's house have fallen through at the last minute and =
basically I'm looking for someone who's going to the show who can offer =
two plots 6 foot by 3 foot to crash on after the show at the Showbox on =
Sunday night. I don't know exactly where the Showbox is but ideally I'd =
like to be able to walk or take a quick cab ride "home". I'm 28 & my =
friend Steve is 31 and probably the nicest guy on the planet. I've been =
married for 8 years & have a beautiful 7 year old daughter if it means =
anything to you. I'll be taping the show as well as Portland & would be =
more than willing to offer copies as well as any others on my list as a =
thank you. If anyone out there can help I'd truly appreciate it and it =
would also be nice to simply make some new friends. Please contact me =
with a phone # so you can actually speak to me & see I'm a real person. =
Many, many thanks, Chris

i want to buy a portable recorder
for use with recording live stuff in the field (with
no power source) or in concerts and also want to use
it to record ambient nature sounds ...does anyone have
a good recommendation for a quality, durable
portable DAT unit that would do the trick (and the
best binaural mic setup) or could anyone point me in
the right direction...thanks for your help with
this...

I was pricing some gear at a local PA supplier the other day & saw one of
these
on consignment... had never seen one before...
2-box unit, looks like some after market modules added to the back to enable
coax SPDIF hookup, built like a tank (weighs close to 50 lbs!!!), absolutely
clean (came out of a studio under refurbishment), with all original manuals
& the
Sony digital theory book...
Anyone have a reasonable guess as to what it's worth?

Toast doesnt burn true Disk-At-Once, at least I dont think it does. If you have
a Mac, get Discribe from CharisMac for true DAO burning...
www.charismac.com/discribe
Ive owned it for 3 years+ and never had a problem. If you already own Toast,
you can get a competitive upgrade for around $35.

Hi All...
I'm looking for anyone on this list from Berkeley,
California. The local college station...KALX...has
been re-broadcasting some cool live shows from the
late-70's/early 80's on Saturday nights. Over the past
couple of weeks, they've had on the Talking Heads,
Magazine and the Stranglers. Unfortunately, I can't
get the signal in San Francisco. If anyone on this
list does have good reception, can you please e-mail
me off list?
Thanks
Tom
