Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2002 16:47:28 -0500 i have a couple of fostex dat machines that have this switch. the ops manuals do not really give a good explanation as to what it does. what does it do when you input analog? digital? playback? best to leave it on or off? i am sure others on list might want to also know, so feel free to address the group. thx ------------------------------ From: "Thomas Avallone" Subject: Europe NDR2 listeners Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2002 22:11:49 +0000 Can anyone over in Europe record this JEWEL concert for me on NDR2 ??? Date: Tue, 2 Apr 2002 19:45:38 -0500 (EST) Generally, record with emphasis off. Tapes should be played back with emphasis set the way it was recorded on them, but that should be automatic. (Except for digital copies from PCM, very few dat tapes have emphasis on.) Seth ------------------------------ From: mcm Subject: OT: looking for WSP Raleigh Date: Tue, 02 Apr 2002 20:02:23 -0500 I know it's a long shot, but wtf. Does anyone have extra tapers for the raleigh WSP? We mail ordered before the taper ticket announcement fiasco. We have lawn tickets for trade and decks so you can leave the show with DAT in hand (KM184>V2>SMB1>DAT). Alternately, a seat down front in the sweet spot and a taper (I'm just helping carry this shit in) to walk in with would be even better. I'd be willing to buy the sweet spot ticket and give you a lawn seat to get in. here's hoping. michael ------------------------------ From: "eD" Subject: RECKLESS KELLY 2CDR SET FT LIVE 3-30-02 SIMSBURY, CT Date: Tue, 2 Apr 2002 20:52:04 -0500 Amazing show of this great alt country band...in the drummer's hometown...recorded with sonic tudios mics on DAT...transferred to cdr with 24 bit soundcard...FT only...especially looking for other Reckless shows...email me your trade lists...to lileddie@attbi.com if you like Steve Earle, you'll love Reckless Kelly "The Future's Uncertain and the End is Always Near"........Jim Morrison ------------------------------ From: Phishy2@aol.com Subject: Gear For Sale!! I've seen many, many CDRs, but not one DAT clone. Anyone? Anyone? And if anyone knows the full scoop on Pink Floyd @ Nassau 2/28/80, please drop a line. I know of a great sounding source done with a NAK cassette deck, but the best that can be found of this is a 1st gen cassette as the master is lost. Yet, I see many master>dats on lists. I assume these are two different sources, but who can tell with all the sloppiness about. Anyone have info, or a DAT very, very close to the source? Also, any DATheads taping the upcoming Roger Waters gigs in Australia?? I hope so! best wishes and keep on smilin' anthony ===================================== "Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of all poems." ------------------------------ From: "bfand" Subject: ISO Gotthard, Shakra, Bonfire, Burning Rain and Blackburn Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 00:32:12 -0500 Im looking to connect with some European traders [or anyone else] that has shows by Gotthard, Shakra, Bonfire, Burning Rain and Blackburn. Date: Wed, 03 Apr 2002 09:58:21 -0500 Hey everybody, I am trying to put together a taping rig on a tight budget (building my own pre-amp, that sort of thing), and I am considering getting a used D8 which has some trouble unloading tapes. Is this a typical, easy-to-fix problem for a reasonably skilled DIYer? Is there a refurbish service that I can count on for less than $130? If I can get this for under $100-150, does this sound like a good deal? Also, are there significant "practical" or audible difference between the D7, D8, and D100 or M1? (this may be a whole 'nother post, all by itself!) Thanks for your input. Mac mhathaway@netway.com ------------------------------ From: "Adam Klein" Subject: FS: barely used premium AT853 mics and battery module Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 11:55:50 -0500 Here's what I've got: Sound Professionals premium matched AT853 cardiod mics with alligator clips, 2 interchangeable hypercardiod elements, and premium battery module w\bass roll off, with belt clip. These are an incredible little set of mics, in mint condition. I've sold my DAT deck, so I have little use for them now (I'm the first and only owner of the mics, BTW). Detailed info is on The Sound Professional's web pages, and for reference I've listed the model numbers and current prices found there (http://www.soundprofessionals.com/). - AT853 cardiod mics w\clips: SP-CMC-4 == $169 + $20 - battery module w\bass roll off: SP-BDF-2 premium == $59 + $20, and $7 for belt clip - two hypercardiod elements: AT853H-ELE == $80 - the original literature: priceless :) I'll consider any serious offers, but I'd like to sell everything together. Thanks! --AK PS It seems the SP only sell SP-BDF-2 with no bass roll-off option now, for some reason... ------------------------------ From: Tompixie@aol.com Subject: MAHAVISHNU / D Sancious-----dates upcoming/taping policies Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 13:01:43 EST hello one and all just to remind everyone of the remaining dates for this tour of Mahavishnu Project to promote their new CD "Live Bootleg" culled from 2001 shows. 4/3 The Saint NJ Mahav Pjct with Big Mechanical Bull [thesaintnj.com] 4/4 Rochester NY Milestones Mahav Pjct + David Sancious and Wil Calhoun [milestonesmusicroom.com] 4/5 Buffalo NY Tralf Mahav Pjct + David Sancious and Wil Calhoun [tralf.com] 4/6 Toronto Mahav Pjct + Sancious and Wil Calhoun [comfortzoneto.com] 4/7 Higher Ground Winooski VT Mahav Pjct + Topaz [highergroundmusic.com] www.mahavishnuproject.com the band is---- Gregg Bendian drums Stephan Crump bass Steve Hunt keys Joe Deninzon or Todd Reynolds violin Pete McCann guitars ===================== taping policy: Gregg Bendian, founder and leader of Mahavishnu Project has put it simply---- 1. buy a CD AND 2. sign the mailing list at the merch table, notating that you taped the show 3. send them a CDR of the show if you approach him before the show, you might even get SBD access.
