From: "Matt" <matt@mattb.net> Subject: Rechargable 9v for phantom Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 21:57:07 -0600 I have a Denecke PS-2 and I hate having to feed it batteries all the time. It says it will last four hours per alkaline battery and I usually use it for about three at a time so I put in a fresh battery for each outing. My question is, is it OK to use rechargeable for this application? Do they last as long (or longer?) Are there any things I should specifically avoid or look for? Any insight would be appreciated. Looking at the specs at: <http://www.posthorn.com/Sonox_3.html> If you want to power the unit externally then you can use any 12V DC source. I would recommend an SLA battery (large charge capacity, easy to recharge etc.). From: Chris Bozzelli <c_bozzelli@yahoo.com> Subject: FS: Apogee AD500e (cheap) and Waveterminal 2496 Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 21:34:26 -0700 (PDT) Hey all, Time to clear out more gear that doesn't get used anymore. Just moved to a laptop multitrack setup and and no longer have any use for these things. Apogee AD500e (Sn7055) - has served me well and made some great tapes. Has had the internal jumper mod to enable it to feed a DAP1 and all other consumer and professional Dat decks. There is one flaw- the metering lights do not work properly - they tend to read ~10 db high- this in no way affects the converter. I'd like to get $400, but will take best reasonable offer. This would be a good way for someone to get Apogee quality for the price of a graham patten or SBM-1. I have a spdif breakout cable and custom battery setup I can include if the buyer wants it. I also built (and now don't need) a dual fan cooled MDF case that holds an apogee and a V2, If anyone is interested, let me know. Ego-sys Waveterminal 2496 PCI soundcard. Great card for doing bit-for-bit Dat Transfers, or resampling on the fly if that's your thing. Perfect working condition. Originally paid $300, but I think they're going for considerably less nowadays. Let's say $180 or best reasonable offer. Have fun, see some of you at SCI this weekend ~Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax http://taxes.yahoo.com/

From: Peter King <sleepypedro@yahoo.com> Subject: prince 3-3-02 CD problems? Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2002 06:31:22 -0700 (PDT) hi, ordinarily a question like this would go to my source, but his email address is no longer valid, so.. my copy of prince 3-3-02 has tiny gaps between tracks. not TAO gaps, but rather gaps indicating tracks that weren't cut on proper sector boundaries. as i'm a huge prince fan (please contact me if you've got any recent masters, much to trade, yadda yadda), i'd really like to get a pristine clone of this. SO... did anybody get a DAT clone of this? or have a different email address for the source? (his AOL address is bouncing.) or did anyone receive CD clones that do NOT have ticks between the tracks who's also capable of making a pristine .shn disk of this show? help, please! thanks peter i'm pretty sure the prince 3-3-02 chicago recording has gotten around since the source posted about it here. does anybody have a different email address on him other than the aol address he was using last month? ===== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ how you gonna win when you ain't right within? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? From: SWG <scottgoodwin@comcast.net> Subject: Seeking "Assisted Listening Device" info Date: Tue, 09 Apr 2002 16:09:59 -0400 Just got tickets for Nanci Griffith in Savannah, and they're less than ideal for taping. The theater (The Trustees Theater) website states "assisted listening devices" available. I am contemplating getting one of these babies and attempting to tape the signal it provides. Can any of you kind DAT-Heads tell me anything about this method? Specifically, I'm interested in the device itself. What kind of interface(s) does such a device have? Headphone level out? Are the devices completely portable or can they be used in any seat in the house? What kind of signal quality can they provide? Any and all info about these things, experiences you've had with them, etc. would be greatly appreciated, as would any background info on stealthing at the Trustees... Ahh, Spring. -Scott

From: jeff.ruben@mail.sprint.com Subject: DAT to CDR...again Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2002 16:36:34 -0700 Heads, Again, it is time for me to ask the omnipresent question, wondering if today's technology is better and cheaper than (literally) yesterday's. What's the best/easiest way to upload from DAT recorder to PC? Once it's there I can burn it, but still not comfortable with the options I've heard before. What's the latest? Is there a USB adapter, and software, that will allow me to upload directly from the portable DAT (Sony TCD-D100) itself? Thanks! Jeff
