Hey, how about a mailing list dedicated to a portable, easy to use, pure
digital hard disk recorder? Sounds good to me. Here you go:
DISK-Heads@Yahoo.com
Dedicated to developing a portable recording device
that is pure digital hard disc recording.
To post send to:
Disk-Heads@yahoo.com
I hope this develops into something that will benefit us all.

There's already a yahoogroups list dedicated to that purpose: diy-hdrec
(not that I would discourage another if it gets the job done!)
But I wonder if this might be an answer to our prayers:
http://www.oqo.com
It's a Transmeta Crusoe-powered Windows XP CPU with touchscreen, Firewire,
and 10GB HD in a form factor about the size of an M1/D100. Availability
predicted to be 2nd half of this year.

Are there any tapers from Australia? A good friend of mine was at the
4-4-02 The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel, Adelaide, South Australia show and I
would love to surprise him with a copy. I would also trade for any of the
other Australia shows as a substitute, but would really like to get the show
he was at. I have lots to trade.

Subject: McCartney Security Question
Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2002 19:14:19 EDT
I plan to record McCartney's show on Sunday in NY. I
was wondering what
security is like at his shows. Does he have his own
metal detectors or
are
they venue specific? What are my chances of getting my
D-100 in? What
are
some good ways of getting one past a metal detector if
there are any?
Thanks,
Tom
TOM,
when i came to the door with my full sized rig, there
she was, a beautiful woman with a wand. She wanded me,
and the thing was making some beeping sounds. I
continued walking to the turnstile (quickly) and never
looked back... I definitely had some metal on me.

The Nomad Jukebox actually has digital input via an optical miniplug.
The question now is whether or not that input resamples...

Ed,
The show was taped and treed by Jmratman@aol.com. He used Neumann Km140
cardiod caps>active cables >Beyer>SBM1>DAP1.
BTW, if anyone is interested any a quick CD trade, I have a great CD
transfer of the Universal Amphitheater show I taped from this particular
tour- Sonic Studios DSM6S/L->D8->ZA2(via coax)->HD. 48->44.1 via Cool
Edit Pro->CDR. Looking for other great sounding Jeff Beck CDRs made from
digital transfers from DAT done with competent equipment and methods.
Oh ya, here's the setlist you wanted:
Jeff Beck
State Theater
Portland, Maine
March 21st, 2001
01. Earthquake
02. Star Cycle
03. The Pump
04. Brush With the Blues
05. Roy's Toys
06. Blast From The East
07. Dirty Mind
08. Angel
09. Psycho Sam
10. Nadia
11. Rice Pudding -> Jack Johnson -> Savoy
12. Behind The Veil
13. Loose Cannon
14. Rollin' and Tumblin'
15. Led Boots
16. A Day In The Life
17. Where Were You
18. Goodbye Pork Pie Hat -> Rosebud -> What Mama Said
Hope this helps.

Actually, it doesn't simply rename the parameters. It saves the file as a
new, smaller file, with the exact same total time, at the lower sampling
rate:
copied to the hard drive at 48khz:
DGQ_48_.wav = 1,916,008kb 170:18.55 minutes total time
after saving the file at 44.1:
DGQ_441k_.wav = 1,760,337kb 170:18.55 minutes total time
It is pretty quick, too. This took about 5 minutes.
Now, if the algorithm that CDWave Editor v1.6 uses (which I am using) is
somehow sub-par, that's another story. And something I can't discern
during playback on my system.
-Bill
ps Isn't the algorithm somewhat of a standard? I think I've seen it here,
and it's only 20 lines or so, if I remember correctly.....

hiya all,
just a heads-up for anyone in the market for low cost NiMH
rechargeables. radio shack has a sale on their entire line of them. 4
packs of AA rated @ 1600 maH are going for 13.49....25% off the normal
17.99 price. i've used these in my m-1 & get 4+ hours out of a fully
charged pair. YMMV, of course. steve

Hey guys, sorry for the crosspost; bwt at the bottom. I have two pieces of
gear I'm looking to unload before I completely overhaul my rig.
1. Apogee A/D500e
This comes with the 15 pin cable, wal-wart and manual. I bought it from Mike
Vernal a year ago and have used it ~15 times (Mike used it once). It is in
perfect working order and perfect cosmetic condition. Looking to get $550
and I'll pay for shipping
2. Beyer MV-100
All I have is the unit itself, no manual - sorry. Again this unit has been
used ~15 times. It is in perfect working order and perfect cosmetic
condition. Looking to get $350 and I'll pay shipping.
I could care less if these are sold together or separately although if the
Beyer doesn't go I may hang onto the Apogee. Feel free to write me with any
questions you may have.
