From: empty spaces <peaceful_mind@yahoo.com> Subject: Headphone Help Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 10:14:24 -0700 (PDT) Does anyone have any good suggestions on a pair of headphones for field recordings on my DA-P1? I've tried the noise reduction ones before and they really don't help, or the ones that I have tried, doesn't seem to 'really' reduce any sound. I also have tried headphones with a built-in volume control which I didn't really like because sometimes I'll forget that I turned up the volume on the headphones and think it's the levels and change the levels. I've even used the small 'in-your-ear' walkman style earphones with a sound reduction headset meant for use at a firing range, but the problem with that was the earphones didn't have a good range on them. Through out the years, I've spent hundreds of dollars on headphones thinking I finally bought a good pair, but have never been satisfied either with the overall sound quality and dynamic range, the aspects that it's not 'blocking-out' the environmental sounds weel enough, and/or the durability of the headphone set. I'm willing to spend a good amount on a pair that is quite durable and can truly reduce the amount of environmental noises when doing field recordings on my DA-P1, and have a good overall dynamic range of sound when recording theatrical plays to orchestras to rock music. If you can help with any suggestions on a pair or if you use a 'home-made' rig and would like to share, I would greatly be thankful. -Andy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Unfortunately, I have not acquired them to this point, but I know they exist. If anyone has any, I have other, perhaps CC+HLPA shows, including some great AUD recordings from thier reunion shows of last year. Keith

From: "DRider" <Hawkwind@attbi.com> Subject: Bob Marley - Trance Remix Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 17:02:25 -0400 Hey Now! On 420 John O' was playing some really cool Bob Marley before SCI came on stage. Peter did not know what it was and John said "he did not know the name...." I would love to find this disc, but without a name I am a bit clueless. It was some type of trance remix of classic Marley tunes. Very spacey and resembled dub-style.... Can anyone help? From: "Winnie Olmer" <who@sover.net> Subject: Prosleeve alternative???? Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 19:01:47 -0400 Many trades I get are in a sleeve very similar to prosleeves. If I understand correctly... Prosleeves have that continuous cutout where you can place a finger in the hub of the CD and slide it out. These other similar sleeves do not have a continuous cutout. But instead the cutout is a "keyhole shape". Enough to place your finger in the CD hub and slide it up enough to grab it by the edges... but this cutout is not continuous. Are these a different manufacturer, or possibly an older Caselogic Prosleeve style? I would love to find a cheaper alternative to Prosleeves. Any recommendations of a similar less expensive CD storage sleeve would be greatly appreciated!! thanks winnie ================================== "Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace..."-John Lennon Winnie Olmer mailto:who@sover.net ==================================
From: "Allan Chen" <kaiyen@stanford.edu> Subject: FS: Tascam DA-30mkII, sony pcm-m1, eco-charge dual battery, Prodif Plus card Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 16:48:02 -0700 Hello all, well, I haven't posted on here in ages...I am looking to sell the remains of my gear. I just don't tape at all anymore, or do much in the way of dat>cd stuff, either. I'm way out of the loop so forgive me if the prices are too "optmistic". Please make a counter-offer if they are. Therefore: Tascam DA-30mkII Excellent condition, had bout 60 hours when I got it, I've only put about 30 more on. I alternated using it as playback and record during cloning, so only about 15 of those hours are record. Have manual. Asking $425 Sony pcm-m1 portable Has about 60 hours, all record, no playback. Used exclusively for taping at shows. Excellent condition and works perfectly - only flaw is that the spring/tab under the "play" button got smooshed at a show, and you don't get the tactile feedback when you depress the button. It still works perfectly, but you don't feel it move as much. Manual, a/c adapter and sled for the included batteries, though the batteries themselves have wandered off. **see below for a matching power cord for the eco-charge** Asking $350 Eco-charge dual output battery Straight-forward - this is an actual eco-charge, two 4-pin outputs on the top. No charger (sold it with another battery a while ago). Also have a 4-pin connector that connects to the sony m1's a/c input. $50 Prodif Plus digital sound card Has s/pdif i/o with coaxial and optical. The optical also accepts 8-channel ADAT. Stereo 1/4" analog connectors. Can handle 24/96 input. OBM and, if I can find it, also the stripped-down copy of Samplitude that it came with. Works great, just don't' use it anymore. $300. I think that's all I got left...thanks. allan ===================== Technology Projects Manager Stanford University Academic Computing & Disability Resource Center voice - 650-736-0518 fax - 650-725-8495
