I'm listening to Howard Stern and he's talking about it. Apparently he
played 99% old Beatles and wings tunes. If someone did tape it I'd love to
get my hands on it.
Thanks,
Steve

I have been using a plextor 8x20 SCSI for a few years. It's probably
burned in excess of 3000 discs. I saw that Plextor had stopped making
SCSI's, so I had the dilemna, do I stick out the 8x20 to the last day,
or buy a new 12/10/32 SCSI. For me, it was a no brainer. With EAC
tightened down at every way possible, and only running DAE using the
copy and test function on a SCSI Ultrplex 40 Max, and getting extraction
rates between 11x and 23x, I had to have a new SCSI, while I had the
choice. I also got lucky on ebay, and got 2 brand new Ultraplex 40 Max
SCSI's coming, for a price I couldn't believe, and brand new Adaptec
2940 SCSi cards, which were $150 and up on the way for songs, as long as
their is a PCI slot in a computer, I will be staying with SCSI, all the
way.

Subject: DA-30mkII and 60m60s
Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 23:45:38 -0400
Hey to All DAT-Heads~
I've been mostly in lurk mode on this newsgroup for over four years and
finally came to a purplexing incident to which I can find no plausible
answer. I thought I'd throw it your way and see in anyone has any thought on
the subject. Here is my situation, I was recording from the SBD at a recent
show with this deck using a direct XLR L/R matrix output to XLR analog L/R
inputs and was using a brand new 60m Maxell HS-4 Helical Scan tape. The show
recorded fine until the last minute or so of the show. When I went to go
stop the tape, the ABS time code was reading 60m60s and it stayed there,
even though the tape was still recording. Not only should it move a digit
every second, the clock should never be 60m60s. That's 01h01m00s in my book.
I have checked the manual for some sort of error issue, but to no avail. I
looked on the Tascam website and they no longer even mention the DA-30mkII,
let alone a resolution. The tape plays fine (other than the time code, which
now only works for the first few seconds and then goes to 60m60s when I know
I saw it ABS until 1:26:00 when it orginally was recording) and the
incremental counter counts fine. The ABS Remain works too, just not the
actual time. The deck was recently serviced beyond my satisfaction from
ProDigital. The deck works prefectly fine now for recording and playing all
other tapes except this one. It's like it was a whacked out isolated
incident. It's not really that big of deal, as I've already extracted the
music to my hard drive safely. I just thought that someone somewhere might
have an answer to my perplexing incident. It makes me hesitate to use this
deck again for another recording for fear of it potentially failing on me.
Anyone know what happened? Thanks in advance for any imput.

I got Etymotics', several years ago. (They require you to go to a
local audiologist for the fitting/mold-making, then they make the
earpieces.)
A web search on "Etymotics custom" quickly finds that Westone (among
others, I didn't check very hard) will make the custom fitting.

Are there newer cards available with support for Windows XP and/or Linux?

Hi,
I purchased an SS-D7 last year with the intention of having a spare deck,
and now I find myself not using it at all so i'm going to sell it. I bought
it last spring from a journalist in New York City who used it for less than
100 hours. I have used it a grand total of 4 hours since I had it.
D7 comes with power adapter, manual, cleaning tape, and leatherette case.
I'll throw in 5 blanks also.
$335, includes shipping. Email if interested. I can take credit card payment
and can send within 24 hrs.

FACE VALUE ONLY!!!!
Okay, here's the scoop; I bought a ticket for this show Orchestra
Center Row A seat 31 (literally front row center) at the Ntelos
Pavilion in Portsmouth, VA, I didn't realize that was the same day
I was taping Incubus in Richmond. So I am selling the ticket at
face value with one condition; I want to sell it to someone who
will tape the show. Ntelos has great acoustics and some one
stealting with omnis would get a great pull. Face value =
$57.80. Please someone with a good rig buy this from me so we can
spread what is going to be a great show.
