Date: Thu, 09 May 2002 21:29:39 -0400
Hey, now:
I have a nak. mx-100 I'm making a battery pack for. I've solved the
problem of providing both a +10v and -10v power leg to the unit fom
batteries, but am wondering if using 12v batteries instead of the
(expensive) 10v camcorder batteries I've found is ok? the fact that fully
charged lead-acid batts actually put out ~ 13v makes me worry whether this
will have any adverse affects, shorten the life of the unit, etc. Anyone
with any experience with this unit please get in touch...thanks.
Peace,
Tom

Subject: nak. cm-50 info?
Date: Thu, 09 May 2002 21:56:40 -0400
I recently acquired a nak. cm-50 miniature mic w/cp-3 capsule. The capsule
itself measures 1/2" dia. and 17/32" long when removed from the "barrel"
(entire cap/barrel combo is 1 5/16" lg.) I am aware that nakamichi made a
cp-3 capsule, I thought for the cm-300, but that's a larger diameter capsule
than this, is it not? It measures the same diameter as the cp-701 omni cap
for my brother's cm-700s, and would appear to be of that lineage, but I
thought the 700 caps were designated " cp-701, cp-702," etc...It has a 6'
cable from the mic to a combined battery holder/electronic packege/1/4" plug
ass'y...and has a mic clip mounted on a tie clip. It appears for all the
world to be a factory nak stealth mic! I've tested it, and it is certainly a
full-range mic, noticeably warmer and smoother that an a-t stereo mic, the
only thing I have to compare it with, and seemingly an omni cap, though I've
heard the cp-3 cap described as both a hypercardioid and "super-omni
pinpoint" mic...what gives?
any help with any of these questions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom

Hi all. Tickets for this summer event go on sale this saturday. Check ticket bastard for dates & times, as well as
www.trainline.com. This event has Train & Sheryl Crow as the co-headliners, with O.A.R. & Ziggy Marley also on the bill.
I'll be taping the St. Louis & Indy shows, Train & Sheryl Crow only. If anyone else happens to go, at least tape the Train set
and send it my way. They're currently recording their 3rd cd, and will be debuting new tracks during this tour.
I have plenty of very good Train masters from the past 3 years to trade for any shows from this current tour.
Thanks.

I taped the original lineup of the Spin Doctors in Clifton Park, N.Y. at
Northern Lights on 4/25/02. Soundboard>Sony SBM-1>Teac DA-P20/48kHz Dat
Master. Pretty nice mix and the tape is just about flawless except for being
a little hot at beginning (levels for a sec.)and the sound guy dropping his
faders down before the encore. The band hung out after the show and they all
signed the j-card and talked briefly. I'm looking to trade for Dat SBD's of
anything from the Spins last mini-tour and especially any kind digital SBD's
or hi-quality audience of the "glory days" pre '95 or before Mark White left
the band. I would prefer to do DAT trades but can also do CDR's if needed.
Also into many groups from the Allman's(mostly vintage) to Zappa! and lots
in between including pristine DEAD. If your interested please drop me a line
with your potential trade. Also have a very diverse list I can send if
needed. I will answer in order sent.

Hi All,
I'm looking for more advice, on taping at Jones Beach Amphitheater. From the
concerts I've seen there it seems like a bad venue to tape at because of the
wind and acoustics (from sitting in the stadium or lower mezz seating).
How's the floor? Is there a good location to tape from at Jones Beach?

Hudson,
For more info on the D8&D7 voltage range, consult
http://www.rockpark.com/d7/ --lots of good info there. Here is part of the
site which I think pertains to your question:
- the power supply should be capable of generating at least 6V and
400mA, BUT, should not generate and unloaded voltage of more than 7.5V
(this will fry things). Putting some Zener 6.8V diodes in the circuit
will fix the problem in this case. The actual Sony supply varies in
terms of current supply (depending on the model etc.), but the more the
merrier, because the D7 (and D8?) draws a fair bit of current when the
motors rev up, so 800mA would not be inappropriate. (from
http://www.rockpark.com/d7/)
Hope this helps,

Does anyone know the maximum supply voltage a D8 will
tolerate? I know that it will go into sleep mode at <
4.6v. I want to build a battery sled for my D8 and
don't want to risk frying it. I know that it's
possible for new 1.5v cells to be a little hot out of
the box but enough to risk damage?

actually, if you honestly believe someone is a bad trader, then there is no reason why you
can't post them as such. if you later find out someone happened (such as in this case), then
simply retract the bad trader statement and hopefully things will work out. i believe
reporting bad traders is very important, and if you believed in good faith, this person was a
bad trader then i think you did nothing wrong.
