I'd make tonight's show but don't want to battle Memorial Day traffic in NJ. I will greatly reward anyone who can provide copies of the shows. Peace and Panic. Date: Fri, 24 May 2002 13:30:29 -0400 I've been a little sad lately. Can someone kindly hook it up with some Johnny Guitar Watson or some World Party (or Carl Wallinger I guess, but World Party'd be better)? This would make me feel great. I know Johnny Guitar Watson opened for Jerry, so maybe the tapes exist. World Party shouldnt bee too much to ask. You make my day, I'll make yours. Music Experience http://launch.yahoo.com ------------------------------ From: Kevin Brown Subject: R300 vs R500 vs others Date: Fri, 24 May 2002 12:12:49 -0700 (PDT) I can speak from (some!) experience here... :-) Had an R300 for years. Really liked it alot. Had error counter and total hrs counter. 3 motor deck. With SBM. But I wanted to "move up" to a 4 motor deck. Got the Sony consumer ZA5ES 1st. Didn't have either an error counter or the total hrs (unless you hack up the remote). Ran too hot. Very well built though. Got rid of it. Then got an R500. Same transport as the ZA5ES. Also ran hot, but because the unit is bigger, not so bad as the ZA5ES. Had total hrs (from memory), but NOT an error counter. Got rid of it. ZA5ES was built better anyway (weighed more; more "isolation" inside). Got a Tascam DA-40. Fantastic deck. Has error counter and total hrs. 4 motor deck. Only can get a wired remote for it, and doesn't have Sony's Super Bit Mapping (can lower the background noise somewhat). But I required an error counter. Useful for when to dry and/or wet clean the heads. Still have the Tascam. Also looked at Fostex D5, but the spec'ed freq response wasn't as good as the Sony's or Tascam. But a slightly cheaper deck though too. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! I posted an a/d1000 for sale here a couple of weeks ago with no response. Anyway, I'm looking to part with mine as I am getting away from a lot of taping and carting of gear to shows and will probably turn to patching here and there. A marker or even post-it notes/tape could be used to cover this up and the disc can then be copied. "Locks are for honest people."
