Sean, (and all DAT-heads)
In my previous post, I mentioned that we do have 7-pin cables in stock.
See http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/category.asp?c=83 for details
on these cables. We do NOT have active cables in stock, only passive. We
have both shielded and unshielded as well.
As far as DAT availability, we have plenty of M1s and D8s to go around.
See http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/category.asp?c=13 for more
info.
Feel free to call or email me with any questions about these items. Happy
trading!!!!!!!

Hi,
A while back I exchanged some mail with the Oade
Brothers and they mentioned trying to get Sony
to make up a batch of the POC cables. I believe
another vendor (Marc? Frank) was doing likewise.
So far that has been unsuccesful.
In any case, right now they have a few of the POC
in stock and a good stock of passive cables which
they suggest for the (d7/d8/d3). They also have
some stock of new D8s available for sale.
As previously mentioned they are only packaging
active cables with new decks, recommended for
D100s/M1s (not certain what they have of those).
They are apparently looking into other chaining
solutions for the future, but no news for now.
I know Core Sound is still building cables, which
AmDig has. I believe Cascade had some of Pro
Digital's cable (passive??), but I am not certain
any more are being made. Since those folks
read the list, I welcome them and others like
Klay/Gary to update us on both DAT availability
and 7-pin cables.

Hi Sean/Group-
I would really like to see the use of the POCDA12P optical
cables more frequently as a daisy chain option in the tapers
pit. The POC, along with an 9v powered coax to optical
converter (like the CO2 or the Calrad), makes an excellent
solution for daisy chaining these Sony DAT decks. Plus
we have a female to female optical coupler for connecting 2
POCDA12P cables.
Plus, you can pick up a POC and a CO2 or the Calrad for
less than the $150 active cable. The CO2/Calrad coax
to optical comes in handy for other applications too.
Here is a link to all the products I just mentioned.

Hello,
I use a TripleBoard II with Software Version 3.06 for cutting and mixing
arrangements. It has a digital connection to my DA-P1.
Is it possible to set start and end IDīs in TripleDAT that will accept
the DA-P1 via SPDIF ?

Hello Folks....
We do indeed have the 'passive' 7-pin Pro Digital Cables in stock.
http://www.cascademedia.net/cgi-bin/cmedia/prodig.html
As for the POC cables, from what I understand, the size of the order Sony is
requiring is outrageous, and beyond what even all the dealers combined would
be willing to get into. We are talking a full freight container (yes the
kind that comes on a boat and gets put on a train!) which as we can all
imagine is quite a few cables.... :-)
I'm happy to answer any questions.
Have a good weekend.

I have subscribed to the list in order to plead for some assistance from any
body in Toronto, Canada or the greater GTA.
I have in my possession a tape of a Neil Young concert - Montreal - 1996.
It is on a 90m Fujifilm DDS Data Cartridge - DG-90.
I have no DAT player to use to transfer the information from the tape and
was wondering if some body could assist me in finding a business or service
that would do this for me on a fee for service basis.
Sorry for taking up technical bandwidth for this request for assistance,

My buddy who taped shows in the 70's and 80's has lent me more of his
masters to convert to DAT. He has never traded these shows out! I have
these recent masters of his to trade:
Pink Floyd 12/8/87 Seattle, WA
Pink Floyd 12/10/87 Vancouver, BC
Neil Young 2/22/89 Vancouver, BC
U2 5/25/83 Vancouver, BC
U2 11/12/87 Vancouver, BC
Pink Floyd May 1977 Oakland, CA (will get from him next week)
Yes 1979 Vancouver, BC (will get from him next week)
He used Walkman Pro and Sennheiser mics for the 80's shows...will get
more taping rig info for the others next week.
What I want in trade: low gen, uncirculated, or master copies of Led
Zeppelin or U2 (1983-1989) gigs.
I prefer dat trades, but will do cdr trades as well.
Thanks,
Vinesh

hi,
I need more of rog's current tour. have clones from 9 shows
thus far and I need more. I'm also missing some gigs from the
99-00 run.
And I'm also looking for master/ 1st gen Pink Floyd 87-94 shows.
Have *plenty* of the same to offer in return. Gilmour '84 and
Waters '87 also very welcome.
And since I'm here, I really, really want to get some Radiohead.
Have some decent material to offer, but don't have a RH list
prepared. I'd be happy to to trade PF for RH. Specifically looking
for last years montreal, boston, and jersey citys. made two masters,
but they came out shitty.
DAT trades only. I am CDR capable, but much prefer DAT.
Thanks for reading.
best,
Anthony

Howdy, folks.
I am about to make a dat recorder purchase. Choices: Sony M1 or
Tascam P1. I don't really plan on needing stealth mode, but
_damn_ that M1 is small. Question on the M1: I think I read here
about folks using the M1 with a "Super Bit Mapper". Not exactly
sure what the SBM is, or what it does. Kindly enlighten me.
As regards the P1, generally I like the larger size display and
buttons, as well as the extra I/O options. I've seen them on
ebay at about half the common list price. Would these be gray
market, or used? How about basic durability of the P1? Could I
expect a used one to have plenty of life left, or just buy new
and use the warranty if needed?
Any advice/thoughts welcome. Thanks in advance!
BTW am I overlooking a portable DAT I should check out before
deciding on one of the two I asked about!
Thanks again.

It's an A/D converter that adds total noise, but shapes it into bands
where it's less audible.

What does the description say?
> How about basic durability of the P1?
Excellent. Look in the archives for some stories shortly after it
came out.

Plenty of life, unless it has been used a lot and the heads are worn.

Im thinking of buying a Sony M1 or 100. Are any new ones out there still? I
