Please drop me a line if you have it. Thanks, Daniel ------------------------------ From: Rawknya@aol.com Subject: Burner trouble... Date: Sat, 8 Jun 2002 13:15:06 EDT Sorry for the non-taping question. But maybe someone can help... When I put in a blank CD into my burner drive it reads no disk, messages come up saying please insert a blank CD. I thought maybe it was the CD's itself. But, it looks as if the drive it self isn't working. Gateway Computer Windows Millennium Easy CD Creator v4.02c (a little embarrising) I don't know what kind of burner it is, gateway installed it when I purchased it. It always worked smoothly, until I reformatted my computer about a month ago, and the burner never worked after that. I'm guessing that might be the main cause. Any Suggestions? -Christian ------------------------------ From: Mathias Rombach Subject: Outdoor DAT Date: Sat, 08 Jun 2002 19:21:35 +0200 Hello, I use the Tascam DA-P1 and am very content with it. It has XLR input with phantom power and costs about 1600 Euro here in Germany (about 1500 dollars). Don´t know about f.e. the PCM-M1 or others. Mathias ------------------------------ From: Stefan V Morosky Subject: re:stealth taping and dealing with other concert goers. Date: Sat, 8 Jun 2002 12:56:43 -0700 This post is basically asking stealth tapers everywhere a basic question regarding how to handle rude concert goers while stealth taping a show. What happened at my last show I was taping at (with reserved seats,I had to stay put!) was the guy on my left wants to talk with me,the guy behind wants to yell and scream and another person is furious I'm ignoring them.I want to hear suggestions out there from anyone who has encountered similar circumstances.I used comments like,"Please,no talking!" and ,"Sorry,I'm not into talking,I just want to hear the show" I mean, how and what do you say when you know its going to be all over your master but you don't want to tell these people,"Hey i'm trying to dat tape this show, please be quiet", and risk getting busted by security. Heres a few examples, please add to them if you like: 1# I just had throat surgery and I can't talk. 2# I also have a hearing problem and when you talk I can't hear a word. 3# have this printed up on a small business card and hand it to them ------------------------------ From: Jeff Holmgren Subject: ISO Nakamichi Microphones Date: Sat, 08 Jun 2002 15:54:08 -0500 I am looking for a pair of Nak cm-100 or Nak cm-300 microphones..plmk what you have, condition and price you what.. thanx, -Jeff ------------------------------ From: Chris Hickman Subject: battery store online? I have had a chance to play with an IPod and must say it is a pretty impressive gadget. His has been modified and has a 10 gig drive (they are usuall 4 or so I think) in it. And it is the size of a pack of cigarette's...amazing. anyway I have explained to him about how something like this that had a digital input recording capability (that would record wav and not just mp3's) would be a great thing for tapers. He said that "the best thing to do would be to email them and let them know that people are interested in this type of thing. Apple loves to fill niches and be different. This may be the type of thing they would actually do if they thought it might be a significant boost." Who knows a recordable IPod might be pretty useful. They are made for folks to use while walking and running, so they are made to be moved around during use, etc. Just throwing that out there. Jackson" Subject: Nakamichi CM 300 question. Date: Sun, 09 Jun 2002 00:58:01 -0700 Hi, I just subbed to ask a question. Hopefully it won't be something that's been discussed endlessly, but I can't seem to find the info anywhere else and this list's digest archive has frequently been a great resource for me. SO...I have a pair of Naks with shotguns that I've had for quite a while. Back when I first bought my old D-5 I used to see a lot of people using CM 300's at Dead shows, so I'm hoping there are still some people out there using them. Anyway, my problem relates to the obvious power issue. I'm just about out of Mercury batteries and I'm taking film classes now and had planned to use my Naks on fishpole booms for live production audio over the summer. I have *one* Mercury battery that still seems to have a charge. I bought a mic preamp for doing looping here at home and it has phantom power, but doesn't seem to power up my mics. I've kind of been wondering if maybe my mics are running a different pin hot than my phantom power box is putting out, or maybe Naks just won't take phantom power. I honestly don't know. Anyway, that's the issue. As far as I know, there are no sources of Mercury batteries anymore and no suitable replacement for them that will work with these mics. If the mics won't accept phantom power, either, then it looks like I need to grab some new shotguns. I figured that if there was anyplace to turn for advice regarding this problem it would be here. Has anyone come up with a workaround? -Robert Jackson ------------------------------ From: "Friedman, David \(DFRIEDMA\)" Subject: FS: Sony TCD-D8 Date: Sun, 9 Jun 2002 10:58:52 -0400 For sale is a almost new Sony D8.
