Hy,
I want to record the R.W. show in Stuttgart, Germany.
Does somebody know about how restrictive they are about people with DATs
under their clothes ??

I often read here about the Sony port. DATs.
There are the TCD-Dīs and the PCM-M1. Whatīs the advantage of such DATs
compared to a Tascam DA-P1 ??

I've missed any discussion about this, just wondering what people were =
doing about Bonarroo taping with respect to=20
-tape length
-Number of tapes you're taking
-batteries
I heard its one set for everyone, but do you think those will be 2hr+ =
sets? I've got 20 60m tapes, probably gonna order a few 90m. I was =
also planning on using AA's in my d-8 and saving my ecocharge just for =
my mic's to avoid recharging in the car. Any thoughts?

hi,
i look at it this way. it doesnt matter if you are taping or not. if
they are loud enough to bother your tape, then they are loud enough to
bother your enjoyment of the show, tape or no tape. i tend to get very
confrontational, go for broke. usually i loudly say somethin like" my ticket
says ( insert artist here) , i dont see your f*cking name on it, so shut the
f*ck up. you have to balance that out with the following considerations: if
i get in a scuffle, will my equipment get damaged? is it worth missing the
show due to getting kicked out? i also make it a point to say it very
loudly, you can usually get a whole lot of similarly pissed off people
behind you and the offenders tend to back down and be quiet. it seems to
becoming more and more of a problem, to the point where i consider not going
to certain venues at all. good luck.

I'm fighting with my Zoltrix card to get it installed on either Windows XP
or 2000. Can't get s/pdif in or out to work at all. Tried XP yesterday but
couldn't get it to work. Trying 2000 right now. Found an interesting post in
the archives that has given me a lead...
Where is that nice little FAQ that used to be
here:(http://pipedreamer.bizland.com/zoltrix)? Was it saved and moved
elsewhere? Send me a link or a text file with the FAQ in it to my person
email address please.
Thanks,
Vince

Subject: M-1 problem HELP!
Date: Sun, 9 Jun 2002 21:53:55 EDT
My M-1 keeps going into TAPE PROTECT (flashes) and pauses for no reason. It
records fine for a random amount of time then goes into TAPE PROTECT like the
tab is pulled over on the tape. Has anyone else had this problem? Might it be
a media problem? I'm assuming it's the deck since it has occurred with more
than 1 brand of tapes. It's the second deck that I have encountered this
problem on, the first one it decided to do it with Sony DDS60m tapes, the
tapes were unpacked etc... brand new. The other time was with a TDK-PRO90
tape (I have heard problems with the TDK tapes before but I had one lying
around)
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Mike

What mic do you recommend? I was planning on using a shotgun. This will
be at an outdoor event. And my first taping. The only thing that stinks
is.I don't have a portable dat. I will have to use my md recorder and
transfer it over to dat when I get home.
Also does anyone know where I can get a good price on a portable dat
deck ?

so i have decided to scrap the 12v > 9v circuit idea and just use 12v. the
ad-20 and ps-2 have this phrase written near the power jack: "Ext. Pwr
(6-24V tip+)". i assume this means you can use anywhere from 6v to 24v DC
as long as the tip of the 1/8" plug is your +. anyone disagree? the only
problem i think i may have is with the da-r100. it is an old unit, and i am
not the original owner. the specs say 6-9v DC. will 12v cause to much of a
problem?

Can someone explain the difference between the DVD recordable formats (DVD-R
vs DVD+R, etc) or know of a site that has it explained? The stand-alone
recorders record on different media and Im terribly confused. OK: I was
confused already but this mess sure didnt help!
Thanks.

Subject: M1 vs. D8, the final tally - and who sells them cheapest?
Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 10:04:20 -0700
I've received too many email messages about this debate to reply, but
I'll share with the list the definitive answer: DEAD EVEN TIE. For
every "M1s are the absolute best!", there was a "D8 has done me right!",
and for every "Skip the M1 for sure, because of ___________.", there was
another comment just like it from a D8 user. Baffling. All that input
and still no clear winner!
Anyhoo, I'm buying one, and I'm buying one this week. One or the other,
that is. And mostly it comes down to price. I'm leaning towards the D8,
but if there's a <$700 (***NEW***) M1 out there, it will be a contender
for my hard-earned taping dollar. A *requirement* will be delivery by
next Wednesday. Can you say Bonnaroo? I knew you could.
So, who's got the best deal (and the best vibe) for purchase of either of
these decks in sealed, new, not-a-refurb condition? Anyone?
