Hello Dat-Heads!
I am looking for a part for my Sony D7 dat recorder. I am missing the
battery holder for it. It is the removable part that holds the 4 AA
batteries inside the battery compartment. Can anyone help me find one
please? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Short answer: Probably. Go get:
http://www.hoxnet.com/dat-tools/fup/5aq.exe
and:
http://www.hoxnet.com/dat-tools/fup/V5acb-15.hex
The former is the flash update utility from seagate and the latter is
the audio firmware. The FUP program will not upgrade if the firmware is
incompatable. Note that you need DOS ASPI drivers for your SCSI card
in order to run the FUP program. These should be available on the OEM
driver disk or from their web sites.

I still haven't contacted anyone on this list that has any live papa mali or
mofro. I have plenty from jazzfest (mostly stuff associated with fog city
records) to trade and would be happy to send you blanks if you do go tape and
don't like what ya hear (i find that hard to believe but to each his own) .
Any help getting my hands on more Papa mali or Mofro would be highly
appreciated. Got WP, Galactic, and lots of other southern oriented bands.
Thanks yall, and enjoy you music.
peace and rhythm

Papa mali plays the boom boom room june 29, mofro is all over out there
playing with vida blue later. I'll be taping what comes within driving
distance (3 mofro shows i believe) and would appreciate trades for these two
stellar bands. Check out both bands schedules at fogcityrecords.com

I have a question about windscreens for the Core Sound Binaurals. I
have lost one of the heavy foam windscreens, and I don't have time to
order a replacement. However, Mars music has some locally that are very
similar. They are shaped kind of like an acorn. My question is, will
these be okay even though they are a bit thicker on the end (there is
just a little more material there)? Will it make a difference?

says it all.
I bought them second hand (used by someone who recorded bird sounds). I used
them 1 time at a too loud concert (Frank Black), so bad result. After that i
bought other mics, now i am stuck with these. The foams look used but are
fine. Comes with A3 Adapter (bit tape on it), but looks new and works good)
+ 1 new battery + 2 new foams in original wooden box (sticker damaged). Let
me know if your intrested.

Subject: 24bit A/D -> 16 bit recorders, what happens... ?
Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2002 14:24:58 -0400
Hello all,
I'm wondering about compatibility between 24-bit A/D converters and
16-bit gear (DAT, minidisc, and 16-bit-only digital in soundcards).
Clearly sampling rates above 48Khz will not be usable, but is a
44.1/24bit or 48/24bit streams generally recordable by 16-bit gear? I
would think it depends on the gear, in that it has to be able to throw
away the lower 8 bits (truncate) on record. Does anyone have a handle
on what percentage of commonly used 16bit gear does this correctly?
Does anyone know what if any popular DAT/MD/Soundcards just fail to
function with a 24-bit datastream?
Also I assume all the 16bit gear that successfully record are doing this
by truncating, not dithering (which would require at least a lightweight
DSP). How noticable is the truncation noise?
Thanks for the collective wisdom!
Regards
Jesse Lackey

im not sure i follow. if you ran a 24bit stream into a DAT, it would
record at 24bits, unless you ran an analog connection in. when you say
"16-bit gear", you are reffereing to the internal A/D converter. but you
aren't using the DAT's internal A/D. you are running digital in at 24bits.

I posted this a few weeks ago but wanted to post once more before going to
ebay. I’m selling my CSB microphones. These are the modified CSBs with
clips and the selectable bass roll-off battery box. They were used only a
few times and kept in virtually new condition; bought brand new about 18
months ago. Kept in a smoke-free environment. Asking $185 or best offer.
US Buyers only, please. References available upon request. My email is

Hi all. I'm looking for recordings of the up and coming frat sensation John
Mayer from quality sources (strong emphasis there). I've seen him on TV
before so there must be boards or FMs out there somewhere. Audience tapes
definitely must be up front with good mics. Have plenty to trade (no Mayer
though). Thanks.

Hello,
I'm looking to change my rig around and I need some money to
do that, so I've got the following items for sale:
1 set of MBHO 603a's with mini-xlr "active cables,
-1 pair of matched KA-200 cardiod capsules
-1 pair of matched ka-500hn hyper caps. These were purchased
new a little over a year ago and are in fine shape.
1 Sound Devices MP-2 Preamp: Purchased a little over two years ago
new and except for a single gain LED's being a little finicky is in
fine shape, all necessary power cables will be included
1 pair of 15' AudioMagic XStream XLR's: purchased with the MP-2 good shape
1 pair of AT 8410a shockmounts: one of them is a little floppy, but
you can tighten it back up pretty easily.
1 Shure A27 vertical bar: nothing's broken here.
I'd like to get around 2,000, plus shipping, for the package, and i'd
rather sell the items as a package simply because I don't want to be
left with a stray part I have no use for. I naturally would prefer
some assurance of payment before shipment of the items. If you're
interested in a solid little mic/preamp combination let me know.
