Came out fairly well. Man was it loud. I came out of there deaf and I was wearing earplugs! Here are some samples, fairly low bitrate: http://www.vincehorst.com/tape-samples/Guided-By-Voices/ Feel free to poke around the tape-samples area. All the recent shows that I've been to are there (minus the Pumpkins - that's old). Trades, B&Ps etc welcome. - Vince _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

From: "Bobby Scott" <bobby_scott@hotmail.com> Subject: DAT transfer? Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 18:52:03 +0000 I'm new at this taping thing, and I would like to transfer from a D-7 to the computer using a Sound Blaster Extigy external soundcard. Can someone tell me what kind of cables I would need to do this? The soundcard has what seems to be several types of inputs. There is an optical input, an spdif input, and a line in. I figured that the line in would be an analog transfer. What type of cable do we need and how does one actually make the transfer? Thanks a lot for any help. From: Smagmapig333@aol.com Subject: ALD help. Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 17:37:57 EDT Does anyone here have knowledge of recording using an ALD for the source? I heard a pretty decent recording from a venue here that was from an ALD. I have no idea who the taper was. I'd most likely run 2 rigs. Mike
From: Dave Cohen <zeau@nc.rr.com> Subject: ISO: Melvin Sparks Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 18:31:36 -0400 Anyone got any high-quality Melvin Sparks? I really enjoyed the last show of his that I caught, but a buddy of mine had a near religious experience there. For his sake, I'd like to do a quick trade for some Melvin SBD's or excellent AUD's (if it doesn't sound great, I don't want it). I don't have any Melvin to trade, but I do have plenty of similar funky jazz and the requisite spate of jamband goodies. Your list gets mine. DC -- Ah, Mr. Zeau, I presume? From: Grant Burgess <grantburgess2001@yahoo.ca> Subject: Ozzy Taping Policy? Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2002 22:27:49 -0400 (EDT) Greetings from Canada! I had a wierd experience at one of the recent Ozzy/Tea Party shows in march. When we were being searched going into the venue, the security guard found my DAT recorder and it was obvious to him that I was trying to conceal it. He asked me what he found and I explain to him it was a DAT walkman. He looked at it closely, and then he told me it was OK to go through. I was wondering if Ozzy had any taping policy such as turning a blind eye to it, or was I just very lucky. I'm already avoiding the Rush > trading groups at least > until then. > Yeah, right on there! :) That is the double-edged sword of the internet regarding upcoming concerts. You can now always (in 95% cases) find the setlists to any given show before it comes to your hometown. Now this may be good for your jam bands which predominantly change their setlists every show, but for most other bands they run by a standard repertoire. Some people may want to know what say, Rush have been playing these first 2 shows. However, it can TRULY SPOIL IT for the ones who wish to have that element of surprise when you see it live. Like in '97 during Test For Echo: If a friend had called me beforehand and said "Dude, they played 'Natural Science' in Richmond!" I would have been stoked; but at the same time, that element of surprise will have gone "POOF!" Then when your show comes up, all you're doing is thinking of "Ok, ok. Is Natural Science comin' next?!" I'd rather be surprised and write out the setlist upon reviewing my tape as opposed to having the guess-work already done for me. If there are any songs that I did not recognize in that set, I can THEN go and search online for the complete setlist. So yes, PLEASE leave all SPOILERS off the list or as Lane stated, at least put a SPOILER warning on it if you have to spat-off the setlist.
