I'm looking for some kind B&P's on the above mentioned
shows. I got one deck down for the time being, but
any shows I receive will be converted to cd eventually
and I will spread the shows that way. Any help would
be appreciated.
thanks,
John Kellogg

I can certainly agree with the concerp om keeping electronics cool. I
have a 12 volt DV donverter, I have never used, and I think I will use
it to mount some fans in my stereo cabinet to keep some components
cooler. I thought about the umbrella and keeping the sun off of your
DAT or laptop and AC converters, mixer, and what even else you have. It
would probably help you equipment, but may be a touch on the rude side
ti those behind you, so maybe factor that into your decision. I think
tapers do produce valuble reorsing, without going into previously voiced
opinions, as I just finished working on the ABB 6/8/02 at the Wiltern
theater last night. I was stunned there was only one taper in the
Orcestra for 1 of 3 nights. Fortunatley, I got a B+P of it,and have
several tree's set up and will seed those tree's. If anyone wants to
set up a vine or tree here, I will seed it. I am not doing a bunch of
B+P's or trades, as I have other very time consuming committments.

All four of these bands are coming to the Twin Cities in the next few weeks
and I'm wondering if anyone knows about their current taping policies? Can I
bring a stand, or will I need to stealth? Any contact info for taping these
bands would be great. Thanks...

Subject: sound card advice
Date: Sun, 30 Jun 2002 19:22:41 -0400
I've been out of the loop for a few months, so I'd like some advice
regarding the current choices available for digital I/O sound cards.
Coaxial I/O, bit-for-bit exact transfers, and solid compatibility with
Windows 2000 and/or Linux are my requirements (I have used a ZA2 for the
past few years that only records reliably under DOS, and I'm determined to
move on from that setup). Optical I/O, optional real-time resampling, and
MIDI capabilities would also be nice but are not a necessity. As far as
price goes, I'd like to stay below $200.
From the very limited research that I've done, it looks like the M-Audio
Audiophile 2496 and Delta DiO 2496 are worth considering. I'm a little
hesitant on the Zoltrix products, unless somebody can REALLY convince me
that it is possible to obtain a reliable digital I/O card for $30.
Finally, I will use the card with PCM-M1 and DA-20MKII decks, so I'll need
to avoid any devices that have been known to act strangely with these
particular machines.
Thanks!
Bob Haas

I know this doesn't answer the question asked before, but it did remind me of
something I wanted to ask...
I have an umbrella for my stand, never used it yet. But, I get the feeling
it's too large. It was the smallest I could find at the store. I think it was
a golf bag one, I forget.
Any suggestions, sizes, pics?
-Christian :-)

Hey Darren (MI tapers/DTE post, digest #373), GREAT idea for those in that
area! The upcoming Vanilla Fudge shows there and in MPLS on 7/7 & 7/3
should be easy to tape. Apparently these shows are with Jefferson Starship
and taping is no problem. I've never heard official policy on this, but at
the 6/29 show in Boalsburg, PA I did not have any problem and was not
questioned by venue security walking in with a case, stand, and tripod.
Soundman confirmed permission to tape JS when I set up right smack FOB.
Vanilla Fudge may also give permission if necessary, they didn't seem to
have a problem with it, try asking for any of the band members or tour
manager Tommy Chandler (bringing copies of previous masters helps too).
They are aware that Jefferson Starship does allow taping and seem to be
going along with it just fine. OK, so who's doing these next few shows?
Please email me if you also have taped or are taping on this current
tour....thanks again for the posting....
