Phono preamps have this circuitry to compensate upon playback. Since you have already done click-removal, you might try to eq it. This will be more accurately done in software. You will probably need a parametric type eq with a wideband (low-Q) setting. You might find some software out there which has this setting as a preset. I just found some good info here which also includes an eq table (you have to read down into this a bit.) http://sound.westhost.com/project25.htm. If you use this filter, your levels will have to be dropped -6db to get the same output level. If so, yes, they DID allow this LAST Summer when the 2 teamed up. Seems like that was mainly because those shows were ABB shows first and tix had already been sold in that respect before the 2 bands teamed up. However, this year taping in the lawn is being strictly enforced. I have not heard of ANYBODY getting away w/ running a stand FOB at ANY level at any of the PLQ shows so far this Summer. If you run a stand at one of these shows like mentioned in the post, you run the risk of getting shut down and you also run the risk of getting others shut down too. Even if Phil's crew let's it slide here or there (not real good odds), you still have all the venue security to worry about. Those folks have nothing better to do than hassle concert goers. Some of them even thrive on it. Do you really wanna "make their day"? My friend Sean helped me out a few years ago w/ some tix to a show that was sold out. I did not even know him at the time and I was totally impressed w/ his kindness. I told him so and his reply was: TAPING IS A TEAM SPORT! These are words to live by. So if you are gonna try some "unauthorized" FOB taping at any upcoming PLQ Summer shows, do yourself and the other FOB tapers a favor and PUT YOUR MICS IN YOUR HAT. That's why it's called STEALTH. It's best to do this type of taping w/ a friend. One wears the hat and one runs the rig. If you just can't swing this, then go to the lawn w/ the rest of the TEAM. Consideration goes a long way! Enjoy the shows ") Peace, D-Rider From: UCHAIN319@aol.com Subject: taping phil Date: Wed, 3 Jul 2002 23:28:49 EDT hi all, last summer they were allowing taping in the pavillion as long as stands were kept head high or lower. does anyone have any info on this years situation so far? thanks ------------------------------ From: kindtunes@attbi.com Subject: FS: SBM-1 Date: Thu, 04 Jul 2002 17:54:38 +0000 For Sale: Lightly used SBM-1 in Excellent Condition. Reply-To: dnemeth01@sprynet.com Date: Thu, 04 Jul 2002 14:20:33 -0400 Hello, Looks like I will be going to see Jefferson Starship on 7-7 at DTE Eneregy Music Theater after all. Is anyone taping this show? Jefferson Starship, Ray Manzarek, and Vanilla Fudge will be there. I have been told that this show will be taper friendly or at least the bands are. I am planning to take bring my MD gear. Are any of you folks taking HD recorders, DATs and the like? If so I will leave my stuff at home and hope for a trade. :) If not can anyone give me a hint on how long the sets will be? I have MD and would like to know if I will have to do disc changes or just press record and relax. Thanks in advance. Trey was on the Tonight Show on June 26, 2002. I reminded all my friends, but I was a little out of it from being sick. Our NBC affiliate is channel 12, but on cable it's channel 11. I accidentally programmed the VCR for channel 12 and ended up w/ an hour of PAX. DOH! I am just wondering who else was on the show?? If I can find that out, I can keep my eyes open for the repeat and still catch it at a later time..... Any help would be Gratefully appreciated! Thanx! I pretty much experienced and witnessed everything those drivers have to go through on a daily basis. I can shed some light on your situation if you want. But if you're too pissed to care I can understand that. Ryan P.S. One thing I will say is that every man and woman involved with package delivery are working their asses off every day at those jobs. I've been researching many web sites and reviews and would like to get the opinions of some experienced tapers. Only having funds to purchase one good set of microphones, what type is better for all-around use, binaural or cardioid. I will be taping in various scenarios from large, acoustically poor stadiums to small outdoor venues. I'm familiar with the pros and cons of each type but was interested in hearing from actual users. For instance, I know the binaurals will pick up sound from all directions, and from following some of the discussions here; I'm concerned with excessive crowd noise. Cardioids will eliminate some of this, but, how difficult are they to keep focused on the stage when used in stealth applications? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Jim Kuehn ------------------------------ From: "Alan Kayser" Subject: fedex ground (No DAT content) Date: Fri, 05 Jul 2002 09:42:08 -0400 Sorry no DAT content Eric Angle wrote: "I just went through an annoying experience with having a bunch of blank DATs shipped to me via FedEx ground. Along the way I learned a few key pieces of info that FedEx doesn't advertise about their ground shipping. Who delivers FedEx ground packages? FedEx employees don't; "independent contractors" do the deliveries. In addition to that, FedEx has no way of contacting them. So if there is a problem with your delivery, the driver won't contact you, and if you call FedEx they can't talk to the driver to fix the problem. In addition to those hard facts, my personal experience leads me to believe the "independent contractors" are incompetent, unlike most real FedEx employees. They attempted delivery three times before they could figure out where I live. I checked the label on the package and it was the (correct) address that I receive numerous UPS packages at w/o any problems." I happen to own a packing and shipping store, and I will second Eric's comments. To put it bluntly, FedEx ground sucks. As great as FedEx is, that's how bad the ground service is. It is true that the drivers are self employed. There really is no connection between FedEx ground and FedEX, though I'm sure they will eventually be one company. My horror story(ies)with them began before last Christmas, when I signed up to be an authorized dealer. To make a long story short, in 5 weeks they either lost or greatly delayed 11 packages. They never called or made any attempt to correct the situation. Two of those packages happened to be ones that I sent, and one contained 20 cdrs from a trade. They claimed they had no record of the box. Too bad for me. Another box went back and forth between my location in Florida and the New York destination THREE times. They refused to pay any claims. I dropped the "service," but lost good customers due to this mishandling. So, be warned...stay away from FedEx ground. Use UPS or FedEx.
