From: Mathias Rombach <rombachm@gmx.de> Subject: DAT trades Date: Sat, 06 Jul 2002 17:17:25 +0200 Hello out there, can anyone explane me why so many DAT Heads are trading recording on DATs and not on CD-Rs ? Mathias
From: Todd Romero <todd@routeflap.net> Subject: lawn taping suggestion Date: Sun, 7 Jul 2002 00:35:01 -0400 (EDT) if you are taping from the lawn and they have speakers on top of the pavilion pointing to the lawn with a good mix. TAPE OFF THEM! back up a bit to get closer to ear level, and aim for the speakers. you wont be disappointed. im speaking from expirience from taping the dead on the lawn. i dont care how great of a rig you have, if you are aiming for the main PA inside the pavilion, from the lawn 50+ yards away, your recording wont come close to what you can get from the lawn speaker mix. if you are skeptical, at _least_ try one set and compare. peace :):):)

From: jagabrieljr@aol.com Subject: RUSH!-Saratoga Springs NY Date: Sun, 07 Jul 2002 03:47:31 -0400 Hi all, It has been a bit since my last offer for two reasons. First I can't believe how many wanted to trade for my John Denver recording. It took me 3 months to clear that trade out. I don't turn anyone away so I must of took 75 trades for that! Second I was waiting for Rush tour because I knew it would also generate a ton of trades. I would have had opening night if I didn't screw it up. You guys can relate I am sure. We tape many bands but there is always that one favorite band and tour that you really have been waiting for. Well this was it for me. One of my favorite bands for the last 20 years is opening in my backyard for their first tour in 5 years and screw up the recording! Anyway, I got Saratoga to offer for trade. I would like Rush from this tour, Rush that I don't have, or just send your list. Perhaps you guys can offer it back to the list for B&P... Rush Saratoga Springs NY - 2 CD's AT853 > Sony D8 Master Recording Peace, Jim
From: "Onno J.R. Bakker" <onnosr@bakker.info> Subject: Re recording harp & flute question Date: Sun, 7 Jul 2002 15:39:16 +0200 It depends greatly from the hall or room ! Find a nice hall ! general : put the duo (harp- flute) about 2 meters from each other in the hall or big room so that the are about 1/3 in distance away from the (smallest) wall and 2/3 from the opposite wall Walk away from them while the are playing and find the sweat spot (that is just a meter or so before the point where the echo from the hall takes over the direct sound.) normally that will be between 3 and 6 meters in front of the duo. then for you option one: Buy a second royer 121 !!! place them in MS on the sweat spot about 1.50 meter high. Option 2 for you use the km184's in XY just a little bit before the the sweet spot (1 meter or so). the 184 are cardio's so you need a bit more hall echo. I hope this will help you. I only have to say that (as very many people agree with me) that my royers in MS are beating everything (even my Neumann sm69) (You have to mount the royers on top of each other !) Onno

From: Keith Bode <t.tunakebo@verizon.net> Subject: Commander Cody at KSAN 7/71 Date: Sun, 07 Jul 2002 13:42:08 -0700 I am trying to put together a large number of Commander Cody shows, to distribute amongst traders. I have been working on this for months, off and on, and have gotten 2 copies of a session broadcast on KSAN, one on DAT, transferred from the FM>MR and the other on CD, which seems to be from the original reels. The problem is on both copies the levels are cooked, they are way to hot. If there is anyone who has access to the original of this, that doesn't have the levels fried, I would deeply appreciate it, and would gladly do an A/D conversion, and provide CD's or DAT's. I would prefer to get Analog, and do the conversion, as long as the levels were not cooked, but a non fried digital copy from the PreFM:MR would be fine. Any help would be appreciated, Keith -- Please check out http://www.wotwild.com for some great animal art and wall decorations.
