As far as the Los Angeles show, it is more than 50 miles from Los
Angeles. That place has to be about 100 miles past BFE. If anyone wats
to drag a bunch of expensive recording gear out there, bring and O2
tank, a big one, and a O2 tent also. If you get lucky it might be below
105' out there during the day, and 90' at night.

Hey Now all!
If any body out there can point me in the right
direction to find any info on these mics I would be
very indebted. I just inherited a pair with the
CK91/CK93 caps and I am not familiar with these.
I would like to send them to a good west coast or
east coast ( :-} ) company to have them checked out
and fine tuned. Same with a DA-P1, the factory is
where I have been sending mine but I have the extended
warranty. I am not sure about the one I have
inherited... I am not rolling in $$ right now so a
quality but reasonable vendor would be XLNT...
Thanks for any info and please reply off list. I
will make B/W tax offers as soon as i document the new
collection....
TIA,
Peace, Michael

Subject: FS: Sony RK-DA10 cable, Marcsounds Mic System, Zefiro ZA2
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 13:41:20 +0200
Dear Friends,
Due to some in-house cleaning and a strong desire of upgrading my rig, I'm
selling these items to get some cash in.
Zefiro ZA2 digital soundcard (asking 225 Euros)
It's in perfect condition and I have the original box and connectors and
original drivers disk and Sound Forge XP disk.
Following Greg's instructions it's ready for use with Sony portable decks.
http://www.zefiro.com/za2 for specs and more info. I used it to transfer
some DATs to PC and the performance and quality is impressive. I would like
to keep it but just upgraded to a new PC that only has PCI slots :-(
Note: this is an ISA card.
Sony RK-DA10 cable (asking 45 Euros)
SPDIF to Sony 7 pin. It gives only digital coax in for the Sony portable
series. I've heard it's not hard to "hack" your own digital out interface
but since I'm very clumsy doing that kind of jobs I purchased one of
CoreSounds' cables and left this in a drawer. Used only once 'til I
realized it didn't provide digi out from my D8.
Marcsounds mic system (asking 140 Euros)
Cardioid Mics and battery filter box with selectable bass roll-off. They
work pretty well for their cost. Similar to some of those selling now from
Sound Professionals and CoreSounds but look more home made. They gave me
some good live shows recordings the last couple years. Selling them cause
I've just upgraded to better and more expensive ones.
That's it. If you want it all I ask for 400 Euros. I accept Paypal. Shipping
costs are negotiable depending the way you want the items to be sent
(courier, air mail) and location. I'm in Spain, so European trades would be
easier.
I can send you also pics of the equipment or more info on demand. Email me
privately for further information.
ps: This offer is valid for this week only. I need the money, so if any of
the items is not sold during this week, they'll go to eBay next week.

First of all, this group is dat heads, not cdr heads. That could be one small
reason that it is a preferred media here. IMO a cd is just some coaster that
is waiting to be scratched. I always trade for dats and then put it on cd if I
want something for the car. Are dat trades really that prevalent here? For
myself it never fails, I set up a trade on dat and some dumbass sends me the
shows on cd. Then they act like I'm unreasonable when I ask for another copy
on dat. Even if they agree to send it, it never comes. This has happened more
than I can remember. If you want to trade cd's go to any other group besides
PHILdats. They are slap full of people grovelling for shows on cd.
As for the lawn, at most outdoor venues the stage is at least 200 yards away.
Take Lakewood in Atlanta, or any of the Verizon amphitheatres. If it was only
50, no big deal, but 200-300 sucks. Yes, the delay towers will be better, but
will still be a distant second choice. I have tickets in sec 206 for all the
shows I am hitting. If it's a hassle I'll trade for lawn tapes later. I'm not
willing to give up a good time and a good seat for a crappy tape from the
lawn. I'll let someone else hang out on the lawn and trade for it later.
BWT-Phil Bonaroo (matrix)ON DAT ONLY. Free to the first person to email me and
ask for it.
See ya--Kevin

If one was building a new pc, and wanted a digital soundcard to be able
to turn dat's into cdr's, and needed to resample from 48 to 44.1 kHz,
which is the best soundcard available to accomplish this? A few years
ago the Zefiro ZA2 was the best. Is this still true? Or are there now
others that can convert sample rate and give good performance without
some of the potential problems of the ZA2?
Thanks in advance.

Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 11:18:12 -0500
the above mentioned artist (lead guy of Soul Asylum) is doing a tour to
promote his first solo cd, which is coming out later this month. I'm looking
for some tapers to hit any of these shows. The stop in Minn will be taped,
and I'm working on a couple other cities (San Fran, Portland) to get taped.
His shows aren't exactely 'solo', as he will have a full band behind him.
He'll be performing songs that were written as a solo project and won't be
played in his main band.
This artist isn't to Kind on the taping scene, so any taping would have to
be stealth.
Artist info can be found here, as well as a couple streaming songs from his
not yet released cd >> www.davepirner.com
below are the tour dates :

Subject: Sony D100 problem
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 17:24:22 -0500 (CDT)
The mic/line input switch on the back of my D100 points to "Mic" but is
actually stuck in the "Line" position-- presumably the little plastic
slider is not properly engaged with the underlying switch. The slider
will not move.
I need to get it fixed promptly for upcoming shows later this month. Is
it fairly straightforward to take out the 4 little screws on the back,
pull the back cover and get things lined up again (assuming I turn out to
be right about what the problem is)?
Or is there a Seattle-area shop that can handle what should be a pretty
simple repair, if it's not advisable to attempt it myself?
Or should I just send it to Paul Plotnick and hope I get it back in time?

Yep, get yerself a good-quality #00 phillips and have at it. Sony
themselves sent my M1 back from repair with the switch in that
condition, and I had to do this. No big thing.

Subject: ISO: Preamp comparison tapes for km140's
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 17:05:30 -0600
Hi all!
I recently picked up a pair of skm140's and now I'm in the market for a
preamp. Stealth is an issue so bigger preamps like the V2 and M148 are
unfortunately out, however I am strongly considering picking up a sax. What
I'm really interested in is hearing tapes made by the Aeta PSP-3 and
possibly the SD mp2. I'm not a huge mp2 fan and have heard many tapes made
by it, none of them striking me as phenomenal, but if anyone thinks they can
change my mind I'm more than open to the idea!
Anyways, I don't need whole shows, just maybe a track or two to listen too
and if anyone has side by side or set1/set2 comparison tapes that would be
fantastic. Tapes made by 184's or km140's are of course preferable and I
really would like to do shn's if possible!
Much thanks and gratitude to anyone that can help me out and if I can do
anything in return, please let me know!
Thanks

Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 16:58:10 -0600
Hi All,
To follow up on the discussion about sub-cardioids recently, I have been
using the new DPA 4015 wide-cardioids for the past couple weeks. These
have a wider pattern than a standard cardioid and a bit more bottom-end
than the 4011/21/2/3
The first samples that I have ready are complete shows of Widespread
Panic at Red Rocks, 6/28-30/02.
To expedite circulation of these, I will send each without a trade or
B&P. All I ask is that you share these through offers of each tape to
at least three more people on the list.
Recording process:
4015's (near coincident pattern)in taping section>V2>AD2K>Nuendo
Multiset at 24/96>Laptop.
Copies were made from Multiset digital output>Lucid DA9624 @24/96 > AD2K
@ 16NN2/48kHz>DAT.
If interested, please email your snail mail address to
nutter@sonicsense.com and identify your show preference of the three. I
can only send one to each recipient. Sound quality is comparable on
each. I have 6/28 and 29 ready to go. The 30th is tonight's project.
Bonnaroo and others to come...
