What's the atmosphere at the gate at Lakewood...I haven't taped there since
9/11, so I don't know whether to expect metal detectors, wands or whatevers.
Anyone with any insight?
Thanks for the help!

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for Help from some good DAT or CDR traders to expand my
collection. I've got CDrs from ebay before and have a decent collection.
But I am looking for a less expensive way to get these kinds of recordings
from you good people out their willing to trade and make copys for someone
who's starting his way up the mountain. I've seen some of the lists some of
you have collected. They are very impressive. Now I just need someone
who's friendly, willing to share and possibly make some kind of arrangement
for a "Newbie." I too am a friendly person and hope that I can someday come
up with something good that you may not have in the future.
I'm looking for rare live recordings of shows by these artists if I can find
them because these are some of my favorite live acts:
Bruce Springsteen
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
Rush
Guns N Roses
Metallica
Nirvana
Melissa Etheridge
Alanis Morissette
Tori Amos
Sheryl Crow
Pearl Jam
AC/DC
Bryan Adams
plus other Rock and Heavy metal type bands. thanks everyone.

nailed a pretty nice PT tape at the TLA tonight :)
what a phenomal band - if you like progressive music in a Pink Floyd vein,
but with a harder edge (& damn fine songwriting), you gotta check these guys
out!!!
i'm looking to network with other tapers of the current mini-tour....already
have some other cities lined up....thought i'd put another call out
July 22, Middle East, Boston
July 24, Bowery Ballroom, NYC
July 26, Theater of the Living Arts, Philadelphia
July 27, Thunderdome, Baltimore
July 29, Double Door, Chicago
August 1, House of Blues, Los Angeles
August 2, Slims, San Francisco
any PT traders, please drop me a line, thanks very much,
- jon -
p.s. talked to steven wilson after the show, they are OK with tapers as long
as they don't know about it (wink wink)
p.p.s. the TLA show was filmed for a possible live DVD release! till then
the bootleg audio will hopefully satisfy us rabid fans

Subject: D7 playback problems
Date: Sat, 27 Jul 2002 11:49:47 -0500
I'm having some troubles with playing back any tape that I'm recording with
my D7, here's what's happening: When I play a tape, at random spots, I get
dropouts (both in the headphones and on the levels displayed on the dat).
The dropout are surrounded by this static sort of sound at the beginning and
the end and silence in the middle. They last from about half a second to 2
seconds then the sound comes back. If I rewind the tape and listen to it
again the dropout won't be there, but there may be a different dropout at a
different time. When I'm recording with it and I monitor it with headphones
in the headphone jack, the sound is consistent (no dropouts in the
headphones or the levels on the dat). I'm using a Sony DG90P tape and I
tried a TDK DA-R tape as well. When I put in a tape I've used before and
was recorded by someone else (a Fuji) it plays fine. Anyone seen this
before or have a suggestion for what I should do? Does this mean my heads
should be cleaned?
Thanks,
--Ryan

Date: Sat, 27 Jul 2002 12:14:51 -0700
I've had the same problem with mine since last summer-
It had been working just fine in my win2k sp2 system until we had some power irregularities -
(contractor next door w/ an air compressor switching on and off all day)
A Furman power conditioner (model pm-pro) took care of that,
but not before that system went from reliable to flaky. the card was no longer recognized by the system.
After uninstalling/reinstalling the latest drivers I got the card working again, but the clicks were there.
I then xferred the card to a new system also running win2k and the clicks persisted.
I've used my m1 and oade cable on a friends za2 with no problems since then,
so I know its the card.
Its encouraging to hear you've been able to get it working under win98,
maybe I'll give that a shot.
Better than my other solution- buy a UA2

Subject: extra Phil Lesh & Friends 7/23/02 on DAT for B+P
Date: Sat, 27 Jul 2002 16:25:52 -0400
This is for their recent show in Portsmouth, VA. It was recorded
FOB (DFC) with B&K's. On this particular DAT set II is first,
followed by set I. Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann both play with
Phil's band on all of set I (Warren even remained on stage throughout!).
It's on one SONY 90m DAT. In return, I'd like one sealed
Sony or Maxell 90m DAT plus postage.
First to respond after the Digest hits my mailbox gets it...unless
you're willing to do B+P's for others, which I would give
preference to (and then you wouldn't have to be 'first'), in
which case please tell me how many B+P's for others you're
willing to make...the highest # of B+P's offered will then get it.
'The contest' ends 48 hours after I get the Digest, and I
will email back all who respond.
Peace,
-Dan-

Subject: Neil Young Giveaway
Date: Sat, 27 Jul 2002 18:40:59 -0400
Hello,
I rarely offer anything up to the list due to lack of time, but I happen to have four (4) extra copies of Neil Young's two albums "Time Fades Away", which is live from '73 and "On the Beach" which is studio from '74, which are both on one disc. These never came out on CD, but this version is excellent, and you don't hear any of the normal vinyl noise that you'd expect from a record>cd transfer. If you'd like the disc, all you have to do is e-mail me your address. If you don't hear from me, that means they're gone.
Hope everyone is well.
Thanks,
Wes
Kindtaper@aol.com
p.s. I didn't get any responses from my Verve post. Surely there's an FM or good DAUD of a British band from the 90's out there somewhere. I just want one show pre-Northern Soul. Thanks.

should DATs be stored like analog tapes, tails out?
(i.e., don't rewind them after you play them?) does it
matter? also, does it make a difference whether you
stand the tape vertically up the tall way, w/ one reel
above the other, or the short way, w/ both reels
parallel to the surface? anyone have any experience or
data on this? many thanks. rob.
