Does anyone have a pair of Rack Ears for the R-300 they aren't using,
and don't plan on usi.g, they wouldn't mind selling at a fair price?
Sounds lie the formerly jammed tape and the prying to allow it's removal
has caused the necessity of a Head Ailgnment.

Hey I'd like to thank this Stuart kook for more exposure, and his imagination
man Stephen King WATCH OUT!!! You got a guy here who could write a great
horror novel about a horrible demon who runs an international bootleg ring
that
spans all the way from Key West to NYC with a multiple network of tapers
feeding him precious recordings (spew like Moe give me a break kid), I mean I
truly enjoy the heck out of his paranoia, Stu there are prescription drugs
out there, that can cure this kind of condition, please seek help!! But hey
dude the chronic your smoking I'll trade ya a big bag of shows for some of
that cause it sure do cause you alot paranoid thought, now I would probably
only need a hit or 2 at the most but you, you must be smoking the daggone
stuff night and day!! But this pee-on besides I want to thank all the guys on
the list who've done some real nice trades, Im going to attempt Petty/Browne
this evening, I'll fuking tree the thing to the list if its good!! Everyone
else thanks, alot of people know my situation and have been very kind, I wont
mention any names here since Stu might tie them into a major conspricy. Stu I
think
theres a man by the name of George Bush Jr. like to enlist you in the FBI or
something that way you could get paid for your paranoia!! Take care friends
here wish me luck on Petty this evening

Subject: SBM1: Mic-in or Line-in with DPA4061's????
Date: Tue, 06 Aug 2002 18:02:36 -0400
Hello DAT-heads,
I recently acquired a SBM1 to go along with my DPA4061 mics and M1.
The question I have is which setup will yield better results, mic-in or
line-in?
Since the DPA's have microdot connectors, I only have a microdot > XLR
converter box that I was going to use with a Denecke DA20. Depending on
whether I use mic-in or line-in, which converter box will I need to buy in
order to use the mics with the SBM1? If it turns out that I will use
mic-in, should I use the 20dB mic attentuator on the SBM1 to tape rock
concerts?
One last thing, anyone here have opinions as to which A/D converter is
better between the SBM1 and Denecke's AD20?
Thanks in advance!

Well, good point. I should have made it as well. I almost never normalize
things. You'll get engineers going back and forth on it, but in general, the
more destructive processing you do to your signal, the more things can go
wrong. I NEVER EQ, unless the original is completely terrible. Compression
is something I use sparingly, if at all. Sometimes, on folk rock tapes,
where they have some really quiet stuff and some super loud stuff, I use the
compressor in conjunction with the limiter.
The thing on pop reductions is something I should have clarified. When
synching multiple sources, I sometimes get pops while doing the alignment
and levels, which I remove, mostly by using the volume meter and a little
compression. Even then, sometimes you can get clicks on the new mix, and if
they are few and far between, I'll often just use a marker tool to redraw
the wave at the click point. But I prefer to do that to the original before
building the master mix.
And good point about getting good gear. A good DA converter and a nice pair
of studio monitors helps loads.
Cheers

Just another quick shout out to anyone who plans to tape upcoming shows,
or to anyone who isn't a taper but is willing to help out by hanging out
with tapers on the floor being relatively quiet. I've got a rough sketch

alpine:
the static on the web cast might have been at the source,, there was a
crackling coming from the top lefthand stack of speakers on top of the
shell on sunday night. it was closer to the end of the show that it became
really noticeable.
(unrelated)about the selling of tapes... remember part of the information
given on austin and his dad, included info that they use a variety of emails
in their game..(oops.. i meant in "dad's" game) how much would you like to
bet that these testimonials to austins good character, are nothing more than
ghost email addresses, orginating from their house???
perhaps cutting off the source of live music to this family that includes
an admitted bootleg seller is the best idea. seems a lack of morals and a
multitude of dollar bills flying around that house, would be a pretty good
reason to shut them down. even a one time sale is quite wrong, as he
admits,, so lets help this man stay on the straight and narrow path, by
limiting his access to temptation!!
