I made a nice audience recording of Beth Orton at Metro in Chicago on
6-30-02 (and also taped the opening act, My Morning Jacket). Beth was in
town again last night, and it was another great show.
Unfortunately, security was pretty tight and I wasn't able to get my
portable DAT in there.
If anyone has Beth Orton shows from her current tour, I'd like to trade with
you.
Thanks.

I want to see Jorma get his due as well. I heard a tape of him a few
years ago, and since have purchased a few CDs and a few concert tickets.
Luckily, someone taped him, and tuned me in.
Before MerleFest stopped allowing taping, I taped Jorma at MerleFest.
There were several bands at that festival that asked specifically to not be
taped, but Jorma wasn't one of them. If he allows it, who gives a hoot what
the suits think? Did Jorma personally have a change of heart regarding
tapers? Last year they broadcast his set on the radio. No stealthing
required. :-)

Hey now,
I'm getting close to moving to Germany and have finally decided to get
rid of the rest of my gear. I'm selling my Sony D8 with 6v rechargable
battery (lasts 20 hours on 1 charge). The deck is in like new
condition, its 2 years old and has 3 years left on a repair master
warranty. Has had very little usage (~150 hours). It also includes a
Plotnik 7 pin coax in/out cable that has worked flawlessly for me.
I'm currently looking for $450 but all reasonable offers will be
considered.
Peace,
John

I am emailing you on behalf of Frank Quinto. I just forwarded your message
to his cellphone. I just got off the phone with him, he wanted me to email
you and apologize for the delay. He has no intentions of ripping you off. He
told me to tell you that he's on tour with the vans warped tour and he'll be
back in Chicago in a few days where he will take care of this. Again, I am
only the messenger, I just want you to know that he's not ripping you off.
sorry about the problems

A few of you have already noticed these shows on my list, unfortunately,
obligations have prevented me from offering these until now. All 3 of
these shows have not freely circulated (until now). Thanks Mark! All 3
are extremely good audience tapes and are certainly bound to excite any fan
of older Rush shows. Here they are (this is all I know - I tried but was
unsuccessful at finding the taping rig info):
04/04/81 All Phoenix, AZ - Veterans Memorial A:Cm,CD A-/A 118 2 CD's, 44k
04/03/86 All Springfield, MA - Springfield A:Cm,CD A-/A 118 2 CD's, 44k
12/02/87 All Worcester, MA - The Centrum A:Cm,CD A-/A 127 "Hold Your Fire"
tour 2 CD's, 44k
For those not familiar with this notation, these are cassette masters.
If you would like to trade for these, please send your disc list. I would
like to get some of the recent Digital Rush Experience Rush shows. I don't
have much time to trade so please send your complete list if interested.

As a 30+ year Fan of Bill Kirchen, since he first came to mass(?)
attention with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, Bill has
remained one of my favorite guitarists. I would love to get my hands on
a few recordings, The one with Nick Lowe woud be great, and a few weeks
ago Commander Cody played with Bill at the Birchmere. I would love to
get my hands on that too.
I am working on putting together a bunch of Commander Cody with and
without the Airmen shows, and converting them to CD. I have landed a
few gems. I have e-mailed Bill Kirchen as I would like to send him some
shows also. I would be glad to include a few recent ones also.
I realize this is a DAT list, but if anyone has any Kirchen or Cody
shows to contribute to the project, or would like to help spreading 20
or so shows around(hopefully), I would appreciate the help.

Hey Now!
Has this become the bickering list??
I taped this show last year. Were you there? Yep, it rained like a mother!
A friend w/ a consumer burned the SBD source for me, and while I am Grateful
it has clicks and pops.
You guessed it, I am groveling to get a B&P of 3 AUDIO discs for this show
from someone w/ a computer who downloaded the shn files.
Can anybody help me???
No, I don't want the freaking shn discs! My burner is fried, so shn won't do
me any good.
I have offered numerous DAT B&P's on this list and now I am asking a small
favor in return.
BTW, I will be flying out to Colorado at the end of the month for Aspen and
Red Rocks PLQ.
Anyone else going?? Please contact me offlist.
Sorry. No BWT here. I am swamped fulfilling B&P's for people like us (PLU).
Although an offer will follow.....
Thanx!

Above is the text file from the taper. He was very kind to send me the shn
discs. It was a mistake.
I was supposed to get AUDIO discs, but he did not ask for anything in
return. So I am NOT complaining.
If you read the post before or know me, you know that I am currently DAT
ONLY and while I CAN convert the shn files, I CAN NOT burn them to AUDIO
discs.
So this is a request for someone to convert the shn discs and burn them to
AUDIO discs for me.
IN A TIMELY MANNER
I will provide blanks and the shn discs. Whoever helps me, gets to keep the
shn discs for their effort.
Seems like a fair deal to me....
Anybody interested?
I have been looking for this show since it was performed, but this was the
best I could do in my search. Even though I have a good chunk of the TREY
Summer Tour, as well as LOTs of other stuff and have made offers to this
list and Digi-Phish to find this show.
Ian, I am cloning you B&P, right now.
Thanx!

it was written recently:
"Let me make 1 final point - "YES" the selling of live cds is illegal in the
eyes of certain people/organizations. BUT, so is the secret stealthing of
hundreds and hundreds of concerts across the U.S. and the world no matter if
the artists/groups are rock, pop, country, bluegrass, folk, new age, etc."
I would argue that recording a concert without permission, in and of itself,
is not illegal. Can you point me to any legal document or existing law,
which explicitly says that the act of recording is a crime?
You may in the course of attempting to make such recording, break some other
law, such as trespassing, perhaps, but I would maintain that the simple act
of making a recording is not a crime. What you *do* with the recording,
well that's a whole 'nother ball o'wax.

I know some of you are getting tired of this chat, and it is getting pretty ugly. But I wanted to throw my 2 cents in towards the matter. Austin, whom I feel is a great guy to trade with and I trust, should be left out of the mess. I believe him when he said he didn't know what went down, and should be considered a trusted trader.
I am also still looking for Lisa Loeb in Columbus, Ohio on July 6. I would also like to know if anybody taped her when she opened those 2 shows for the Indigo Girls.

Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 01:11:37 EDT
Sorry for the offtopic, but can anyone offer a suggestion or opinion on the
Philips CDR775 dual-tray CDrecorder/player? A friend is considering purchase,
and wondered if it was a good machine. Does anyone have experience or
knowledge about Philips products, are they still good? Before making the
purchase she wants to make sure that she's getting something good and
useful... and she's not interested in a computer-related CDrecorder.
Any suggestions (in private, I suppose) would be best, thank you. I received
fantastic comments and positive reviews on the Sony PCMR500 so I figure at
least a couple of people here could offer some similar advice.
thanks,
