From: mike hooker <mhooker@optonline.net> Subject: messed up trade, nasty e mail Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 06:57:14 -0400 hi, regarding the below, i'm the guy who sent it. : ======================================================================== I'm not going to use names but this happened to me today. I set up a trade for the Jorma show I offered. I've seen this guy post a lot so no big deal. I get the disc today. they were wrapped in news paper and taped in cardboard. I pop them in and they are not the year listed (really don't care about that. I can figure out what it really is) and they were TAO. I sent him a email. I thought it was nice enough. >>>I got the disc today. they are mislabeled. it is not from 74. it's got a song off the new album. and its TAO!! I would not have traded for it if I had known this.>>> didn't even mention the fact that they weren't in sleeves or a bubble mailer. this was his response. >>>then I fucked up. dot have a friggin heart attack, like some broad. you let me know about it, nicely, and I take care of it. now, you can stick it up your ass.>>> ===================================================================== all the guy had to do was say i sent the wrong discs. i dont need a lecture , or attitude. if i need any of that, i'll call my house :). i trade a lot, with a lot of you. done a lot of repeat trades too. i've also made a few mistakes over the years too. always made good on them, often times throw in an extra for the hassle. never once when i fucked up did i get an e mail like that . it was always mike, i think you sent the wrong discs, can you check for me . or something along those lines. its a hobby, a pleasant one. i try to be pleasant, he wasnt. he can still stick the discs . please see my music trading page: New URL http://hometown.aol.com/mhooker216/myhomepage/index.html being its AOL, its not always up. try it a few times, or ask me for a text list. thanks have fun, mike hooker

From: "Marc Nutter" <nutter@sonicsense.com> Subject: My recent tape offers Reply-To: <nutter@sonicsense.com> Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 06:35:33 -0600 Hi All, I wanted to update everyone regarding the tape offers I have made and not filled lately. Since September 2001, I have been recording almost exclusively at 24-bit/96kHz. To make DATs of these, I have preferred to run the digital out from the computer to the Lucid DA9624 digital-to-analog converter and patch it directly into the Benchmark AD2K+ for 16-bit/48kHz to DAT. I have found the Lucid to be on par with the best DAC's I have heard, but the Benchmark DAC's are even more remarkable. With the announcement from Benchmark that they are going to release their 2-channel DAC1 for under $800.00, I am waiting until it arrives before I make any more transfers. About a year and half ago, I used one of their four channel DAC's just for grins, and since then, I've wanted a 2-channel unit for myself. With their offer of a money back guarantee and a great introductory price, I'm getting one and anxiously looking forward to hearing how my recordings really sound. To some, this may sound like a big commercial plug, as many know that my company sells Benchmark products. However, for me, it is a dedication to getting the best sounding recordings in circulation and I have generally found that I prefer to go to analog as opposed to using the word length reduction and down sampling offered through most software packages especially at anything faster than the highest quality settings. With any luck, we'll also be able to use a Mini Me, or a V3, to compare against the AD2K for Analog-to-Digital conversion by the time the DAC1 arrives in early September. Long story short: Many of you who have requested tapes will still be getting them from me. They just won't arrive as soon, but I think they will sound better than they would have if I recorded and mailed them today. Happy Recording Everybody, Marc Marc Nutter Sonic Sense, Inc. From: Todd Bainbridge <eyedoctodd@comcast.net> Subject: Mailing CDs protocol Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 18:23:03 -0400 Hi, The message below got me wondering.... I usually send CDs in a special stiff CD mailer available through staples. It will hold 3 discs if you cram them in (little effort required - no damage to discs in doing so..) It also has some soft cloth-like material inside to protect the discs. There is NO room for movement between discs. I recently had a slew of CD trades, and one person grumbled that "the cds weren't in protective sleeves". Well, duh, No they weren't. The protective CD mailer with soft material inside and no room for movement between discs should not require that. Anyway, I was wondering what the general protocol was. I know I usually receive discs in a bubble mailer with sleeves, but my feeling is that it's more common just because it's less expensive than a CD mailer, not because it's better for any reason. Thoughts? >From: "gordon wilson" <gordonlw@mindspring.com> >Subject: what do y'all think about this >Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 00:43:11 -0400 > >first of all sorry for the lack of DAT content.
