Every mic draws current differently and battery life depends on battery, temperature, and mic requirements. Just get the Rolls unit and buy some batteries; you can't go wrong. Of course I have had extra tickets, but not by buying more than I needed, hoping to get something good out of it. If you want to trade for inflated value, that's your call.. I think those who have commented on the inclusion of fan club fees in the equation have already 'called' you on that aspect.

From: ISTEIN2@aol.com Subject: Re: Sony TCD D7 > Hard Drive > CD??? Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 18:23:27 EDT >>Since the D7 does not have the 44.1 kHz sampling rate, will there be a problem or quality loss when I create a CD from these tapes? How can I get the best possible results? Are tapes made using a D7 able to be made into acceptable seeds for etree? I need to check, but I believe I will need a new soundcard for the transfer as well as a digital connector cable to go from deck to soundcard. Any advice here would be appreciated as well.>> I'd like to give a little more insight into your problem and how to best easily accomplish your goal. Since the original recording was made using a sampling frequency of 48k, you already know that it must be resampled to 44.1k. All you need is a digital soundcard like a Creative Platinum Live that resamples automatically. While many would argue that there are better soundcards to use, this one is inexpensive, easily found, and very easy to install and use. I can't imagine the loss in quality from one resampling to be significant. Besides, you still have the master DAT tape to download later on through a better soundcard if you so desire. For now you want to get this particular recording converted into a wave file on your computer. Once you have a digital soundcard with "SPDIF-In" (or even a Toslink-In), you only need a Sony 7-Pin digital cable that enables you to send a signal out of the Sony D7 DAT deck. Sony does (or did) make a converter kit designed for this called an RM-D3K, and also a later model that did exactly the same thing. Other electronics equipment dealers/repair places such as the Oade brothers made a modified Sony DA-10P cable that gave you the ability to have a digital signal go both in and out of the Sony portable deck. If you can get your hands on one of these from a taper friend of yours, you won't need the RM-D3K at all. Sony also made a 7-Pin to optical (Toslink) cable called a POC-12 that enabled you to have both digital input and output for your portable DAT deck. All of these cables are getting rarer each day, but still can be found if you look hard enough. There even are 7 Pin cables made by Core Sound that can do the job, and are not very expensive at all. It all depends on how much use and abuse your cables will get, and you can decide if you want the less expensive ones. That's pretty much all you'll need to do this. Good luck! Yours, Ira
From: Glen Vomacka <rainingvodka@yahoo.com> Subject: Devlins Lead Singer Touring...Please Tape! Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 16:08:52 -0700 (PDT) Colin Devlin will be touring solo as the support act for the Hothouse Flowers. If go to any of these shows, PLEASE tape his set and drop me a line. I'll do whatever i can to make it worth your while, trade, blank media, reimbursement of ticket/expenses, whatever. I'm currently out of the country and won't be back for quite some time. If you've never heard their music, the Devlins are a mellow rock group hailing from Ireland and unfortunetly they don't leave Europe very often. From: "Dano" <dan@thejamzone.com> Subject: Sony M1 Repair Reply-To: <dan@thejamzone.com> Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 16:44:42 -0700 Hello y'all, my M1 broke and i'm looking to get it fixed. I originally bought it from Sonic Sense along with the 4 year extended RepairMaster warranty. I have been going through a lame nightmare trying to get this thing registered with RM and finding a local repair center in the San Francisco Bay area. I was wondering if anyone here has had the same issues and have found a great authorized repair center (through RepairMaster) to send it to. I would mind at all shipping it off to somewhere else as long as they can repair it and take good care of it. All comments are greatly appreciated as i'm without my recording device as of now and have been for quite some time!!!! Peace Dan

From: Smagmapig333@aol.com Subject: Cleveland Taper needed for 8/31/02 Peabody's Date: Thu, 29 Aug 2002 03:15:37 EDT Are there any Cleveland tapers out there that can catch the 8/31 show at Peabody's. I'd love to have the Dredg and Taproot sets. I know Dredg allows taping, I'm not sure if Taproot does I have heard they do but I can't confirm that. If you haven't taped there before there is a perfect spot on the right side in front of the soundboard (on the platform) I'll be in Cincinnati for Tool so I can't make the show. I might try to catch Dredg/Taproot in Toledo at the Hard Hat. I'll pay you back for your ticket if you can tape, and hook you up w/something on my list. Thanks, Mike (tapentrade@aol.com)
