This is probably an OEM Alps part made for Sony; dual 50k, probably an audio
taper. Sony p/n 1-223-879-12.

Hey all y'all,
RODE NT-5s... Interesting mics, very natural sound w/ great transparent
highs & lovely low end response, but the lower mid (8000 hZ - 1.5 KhZ)
seems a bit diffuse and lacking in some respects for field recording.
Ran a close comparison of w/ the the NT-5 > MV-100 and my usual
Gefell M200/M21 > V2 rig. (both mic pairs on same stand, ORTF, capsules
were within 6" of each other vertically, from "section" about 200' from
stage...
Gefells ran w/ B&K windscreens, NT-5s w. supplied foam windscreens +
additional AKG C1000 windscreens to tame over active response to wind noise)
The Gefell tape sparkles, w/ an even frequency response from high to low,
the
NT-5s lack definition & presence in the lower mids. The listed frequency
response
of the mics shows a dip in those frequencies that becomes a real issue for
distance taping.
Run as an onstage pair in X/Y or ORTF, or in an FOB placement these mics
are lovely,
but as the distance from the stage increases, the roll-off in mid
frequencies becomes
problematic. They do work very well as close-mics for stage or studio
applications,
and have great rear and side rejection characteristics w/a smooth and even
off-axis response.
Not sure if this also applies to the stereo-head NT-4, but the capsules are
supposedly the same.

I got all the show except for a couple dropouts during the opening song. I
had to move and lost signal moving my pack for about 5 seconds. I'm looking
for another copy of the opening number... I'll trade a complete show off my
list for the single tune trade. Trades URL below in signature.
Thanks

PS.. New technique worked great!! Using an ACE elastic wrap, I had all my

Just wondering if tapes of these performances were circulating? Trying to

Looking for both days, 8/3 and 8/4/02.

Nice quality recordings, Charlie Hunter had a 35 min show, 1hr for
Guster and 95min for John Mayer. Recording was done with a Royer
SF-12 stereo ribbon mic FOB DFC. Due to venue restrictions stand
height was supposed to be head level, but for most of the show I
must have been 7-8 feet tall depending on how much s&*t I was
getting from security. Once Mayer came on I tried to keep it as
high as possible to avoid the screechin bi!&hes behind me. Well,
I'm posting shns tonight of one Charlie Hunter tune and one Mayer
tune. I can only do trades at this time as I am backed up doing
over 50 B+Ps for a Glen Phillips/Nickel Creek show I taped.
Here's the link to the files:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?T412321B1
They'll be titled CH2002-09-04.shn, JM2002-09-04.shn
Looking for Nickel Creek, Train, Glen Phillips, Mayer, REALLY
LOOKING FOR GIN BLOSSOMS, Tool, and will entertain any especially
sweet recordings by others (I even traded for a Snoop Dogg/Dre ALD
once =)
Peace, Chris

Hi Everyone,
Did anyone happen to record either of these? My wife & stepson went to the
Bruce show, but didn't tape.
Last night, we went to the Robert Plant show (which was great, btw), but I
had major mic problems & came out with little more than a tape full of
pops. The sound at the Fox last night was excellent, which just makes the
lack of a good recording that much worse. Hopefully someone managed to get
a good tape.
I'm looking for either/both shows. Lots to trade...
