From: gottajiboo40@mac.com Subject: FS: Lunatec V2 Date: Thu, 5 Sep 2002 15:22:36 -0500 I am selling my Lunatec V2. I just bought it used from Marc at Sonic Sense and haven't even run it once. The reason I am selling is I have had a major breakdown happen with my car and need to get it fixed ASAP. So, unfortunately I have to sell my V2 to cover the repair. I need to get $825 for it. That is less than I just payed for it, and I haven't even used it it yet! I will be including the nice 4-pin > 4-pin XLR battery connector cable. PLEASE help me out of this jam guys and buy the V2! Not only will you GREATLY be helping a fellow taper out of a serious jam, but you will be buying an awesome V2! Thanks guys!! -Jason B

From: Mark Mayhle <mark@mayhle.com> Subject: Steve Earle freebie offer closed Date: Thu, 5 Sep 2002 16:48:07 -0500 (CDT) Just an update-- my "totally freebie no B&P" Steve Earle offer of a couple weeks back goes in the mail tomorrow. Basically everyone who sent an address is getting the show, including Australia and The Netherlands. I used cheap generic discs, just to forewarn you all, but on the up side it was actually a 2-disc show, not 1 as I thought, so everyone gets more than their money's worth! 8^) -- Mark Mayhle mark@mayhle.com

Date: Thu, 5 Sep 2002 17:30:34 -0700 hello, it seems that my plan to stealth some shows this late summer won't be happening. so, i decided to sell my OKM II mics. these are the rock version--in excellent/mint condition. i bought them in june thinking i might use them this summer. also, i have a pair of custom made schoeps mic cables. K5U. these are similar to regular mic cables--5 meters long. the cable is the same one schoeps uses in their kc5/y active cables. only, these are not "active". these are 3 pin XLR cables. very sturdy, well made cable. i've only used them once! M1 has been used at the most 30 hrs. i've only used it to record shows. no ff or rw ( that's what home decks are for! ). i have most accessories, but no box. i'll include a sony rkda10p cable. deck and cable are in excellent condition. so--reason for selling? got new toys and the ones i don't play with need to go! OKM II Rock version mics $185 shipped Schoeps K5U Mic Cables $100 shipped Sony M1 with rkda10p cable $475 shipped thanx-- bill

From: Brendan Hoar <brendan@brendan.org> Subject: Birchmere Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2002 00:05:31 -0400 (EDT) > anyone familar with taping john prine, and iris dement for that matter,, Nope. > i've been told taping is permitted in the Birchmere in Alexandria Va, > but i'm not even sure about that,, it would be exceptional considering > the "quiet" policy there,,, i only tape with gefell m200's so > stealthing isn't much of an option for me,,, They have large signs indicating that neither audio nor video taping is permitted in the venue. Stealthing could be performed, though I've been advised to "turn off my cell phone" by the personell taking tickets, due to the large bulge in my front pockent (a Sony PCM-M1...). So, while normally they do not pat down, do use discretion, as I have seen the wait staff (seating is at tables) direct the floor staff to a person who was obviously taping - don't recall how that was resolved (whether they were permitted to re-enter w/o the equipment or not). I've found that the best sound comes not from sitting in the front most row of tables, but behind the first horizontal aisle in the second row, with my back up against the "wall" separating the front area from the back area. Mics pinned to shoulders under a dark (but lightweight) sweater. I usually use the mens room stall to get the tape rolling. And finally - they will fill every seat if the show is sold out. Adjust recording approach accordingly. It's a bit stressful, particularly as it is *the* local folk venue for me. There are a few shows I decided not to tape for this reason...just enjoyed them a lot more but only that one time. -brendan

I > usually use the mens room stall to get the tape rolling. > yea, The Birchmere has a very strict NO-taping house policy, regardless of performers wishes. Buts is one of the best places to record, due to the fact that they dont allow standing, dancing, and request that you remain quiet during the performances :) Its definately a job for Sonic Studio mics -> M1/ or D8. (a greta place to really make your sonics "shine") Get there very early so you can get a table close to the stage, and you wont be sorry. Try to have someone with you tho, to intercept the waitress from taking your order right in your mics. One of the most incredible and best tapes ive ever made came from the Birchmere back in '94 for Bela FLeck. sonics->D7. (this was at the old Birchmere location tho)
From: Nadyne Mielke <nadyne@rmta.org> Subject: DigiTori mailing list Date: Thu, 05 Sep 2002 21:08:57 -0700 Those of y'all who have been watching the Dent <http://www.thedent.com/> know that rumours about Tori Amos' 2002 tour dates are starting to filter in. There will be an effort to make sure that we get all of Tori's tour taped again this year. Keith Shapiro organised it last year. We're going to try to make sure that Keith doesn't end up saddled with -all- of the work ('cause it is a -lot- of work, and he ended up buying concert tickets for some DAT-heads to make sure that US shows were covered). To help in this, I'd like to point folks towards the DigiTori mailing list. DigiTori is only for tapers, and is not for any sort of discussion of trading. Subscriptions are moderated, posting is not. To subscribe, go to <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigiTori/>. Note that if I don't know you as a taper, I will email you to ask what your taping setup is. You can save both of us some time by emailing me with your taping setup immediately. :) Acceptable topics of discussion include (but are not limited to): * taping equipment * taping hints, tips, and tricks * security at particular venues * converting recordings to CD-R Unacceptable topics of discussion include (but are not limited to): * grovelling for a show * requests for trades * requests for artwork Please feel free to pass this along to other Tori or taping forums. Questions? Email me. :) /nm

From: "Thetes" <ling.mark@msa.hinet.net> Subject: cap off re: DAT>Yamaha UW500>CEP Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2002 23:21:04 -0700 To cap off the question I posted in #448 and again in #452= the ASIO driver for the Yamaha UW500 USB audio interface box is incapable of handling 48khz when used with a "non-ASIO" app like CEP. Replacing it with the original non-ASIO USB audio driver solved the problem. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
