Hey people,
Does anyone have any DAT or CDR of teenage crap pop in concert? Surely those
kids actually did some live stuff in concert, and I really would love to hear
it. I'm particularly after Steps (who broke up over Christmas and their most
famous offshoot is "H and Claire"), A1 (who finally have a US record label,
and they're a million times better than the Backstreet Boys and N-Sync, which
is saying a lot, and I know there are a lot of us DAThead adults who are on
the Digi-Britney list, don't try to hide it), North and South (may be broken
up by now, but a lot of their song riffs/choruses sound like they're nicked
from Saint Etienne), and Whigfield (best work was 94/95). Anyway if anyone's
interested in swapping and has garbage like this, please get in touch, I'm
highly interested, I love all this stuff, most of my friends can't handle
listening to me go on forever about it. Oh and A-Teens, they were support
for Britney and I think Christina in the US in past years, they're most
famous for their Abba covers (really good, better than Bjorn Again). But I
really am after Steps more than anyone else.
And for those of you Yanks who want to watch Steps videos but can't play UK
DVDs, I endorse buying the multiregionDVD player, or buy the Asian VCDs of
Steps Gold, just smashing, and you can watch it on your DVD player.
Oh and I'm always interested in any live Modern Talking show as well. I
think they mime it, but I'm still interested.
Finally is Martin Denny (of "exotica" fame from the 50s/60s) still alive, or
have any of his concerts been recorded (his live albums don't count)? I
wouldn't mind hearing any of that either; in 1990 he put out a fantastic
album called Exotica '90, rerecordings and some new songs, done in Japan with
some excellent backing musicians. Maybe he and Arthur Lyman can do a
comeback tour or something...
Patient traders preferred, I still can't get my act together half the time.
WOB tax on CDR only for 5 people tops who can be patient: choice of coldplay
8-18-02 bimbos (my source, there were about 30 other tapers there I'm sure)
on 2 cdr, one of two U2 ADL shows from last year, or Swedish broadcast of New
Order at Roskilde this year (not to be compared with the Irish or German or
other nation broadcasts)... or Spectrum 9-21-97 bottom of the hill. Or pink

That has got to be the singularly most stupid thing I've seen written on
this list. Someone sends you a blank, and the postage to return it to them.
You copy your tape (or cdr) to theirs, return it to them using their postage
and mailer...and that's selling?
Dude, you need a break from the hallucinogens.

For all of you getting worked up about what I say, Get a Life. What I
write is just my opinion, which you all know is like an asshole.
Somehow my name got tied into post about bootlegging, somebody or
multiple somebodies must be really bored. Find a post where I wrote a
word about bootlegging, there isn't one. My opinion about bootlegs, is
the same as my opinion about dope. Producing bootlegs doesn't cause the
creation of them. It's people buying them that creates the existence of
them, just like people buying bags of Pot is why it is smuggled in or
grown in Basements Now maybe if you all scurry along, you can inform
all those bootleg buyers, that you'd give the music to them for free.
But maybe, just maybe, there are people out there who would rather walk
into a store, cough up $60, and walk out with the same show with some
professional graphics, printing and shrink wrap, and not have to go to
different stores for media, stamps, envelopes, CD envelopes and
everything else. There is a Clapton list I was on. It was a status
symbol how many sounboard boots of Clapton everyone had. They bragged
about how much money they spent in their life buying 200 Clapton concert
Bootlegs. Something seems fishy to me when every damn show the guy
plays winds up as a great SBD Boot. Regardless of what we do or say on
this list, the sale of bootlegs is tied to demand. It's status and
people who are just to busy to spend the time having a hobby, and have
to damn much money that keeps the diminishing quantity of bootlegs in
stores.
Now I've said my piece about bootlegging, go apeshit if you want.
Keith

hey matt c. ... if you think doing a b&p constitutes selling it means one of
two things to me (the second i feel to be more likely):
1] you're simply changing your story under fire
-OR-
2] you are a jackass (no, really, it could be true ...)
looking forward to a witty retort,

school's in.......
someone wants to trade with me. they have nothing on their list that intersts me. they
offer a b&p. i tell them to send me 2 apogee gold cds and $3.50 for shipping. they say
they can't find any apogee gold cds. i offer to buy some through mail order. so now we
have the cost of the cds, the shipping of the blank cds and postage.
and you don't think b&ps aren't selling????
i guess it's all how you justify it, isn't it? many of you 'traders' are just 'selling'.

When I do b&p, I don't care what kind of CDs they send. It's their
problem if the CDs suck.
> and $3.50 for shipping.
Shipping 2 CDs costs $.60 postage (First Class, 2 ounces).

So you make a profit on those, too, right?

So they send you money, and you send CDs, yet you somehow claim that's
"b&p". It isn't.

Obviously. Though why you require among the most expensive CDs rather

First Class postage for 2 ounces is $0.60 in the US. $0.37 for the
first ounce, and $0.23 for the second.

What are you now claiming you never claimed? You never claimed to do
b&p's? Or you never claimed to receive money for b&p? Everybody on
the list saw your previous postings, you can't change history that

Not new to TRADING....Started trading analogs in 91 and been trading DATS
cds for the last three years. And I've never taken more than a blank for a

always spun something on it and sent it back to them. Sell your shit else

Hey
I know noisy crowds is a real pain in the ass, but lately I've found out =
an even worse problem.... Since I use a DAT, what do you think happens =
when half drunk/drunk people are pulling their mobile phones up to call =
their equal drunk pal??? That's right, a =
BEE-BE-BE-BE-BEEEB-BEE-BEEEEEEEP! on my tape!
Or someone around ME (why just ME, there are LOTS of other people to =
stand next to!!!) is calling their friend who couldn't make it to the =
show, so that HE/SHE can listen to a whole song on their mobile phone =
isntead!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR......=20
Anyone knows how to edit that out in the masterring process?? I've tried =
some on Cool Edit Pro 2,0 but it has not been very successful...
I'd appreciate an answer!=20

Seth, reread the end of that last sentence:
"ok, unless I'm stealthing and yes I see the hypocrisy in that"
So I guess I'll abide by the artist's wishes until we disagree.
I never said I wasn't a selfish taper. But I seldom find myself
in situations where taping isn't allowed. My choice of music
just sort of worked out that way.
I have been shut down for taping when the artist didn't want to
be recorded. I'm not at all pissed about giving up a few tapes
Keith tends to get a little mouthy about stealthing, but his
core argument isn't entirely unsound. I have to laugh at some
people who try to argue that they are entitled to tape.
My original point was that I do not feel that the venue owns the
performance, the artist does. And if the artist wants a personal
recording of the show (which is what my bitchmere whining was
about) then they should be allowed to tape themselves or have me
do it for them. Places like the birchmere would not exist if not
for the artist who plays there. Without them, the birchmere is a
marginally mediocre resturant that probably wouldn't survive long.
