Hi,
Anyone have any Melissa Etheridge shows from 2001 or 2002 on DAT or CDR?
I'm also looking for anything rare, video or audio recordings of the country
artist Deborah Allen. She's had a hit song in the 80's "Baby I Lied" and in
the 90's "Rock Me (In The Cradle Of Love)" She has a great voice!
Her music videos have played on CMT when they were singles but since then I
haven't seen them or have been able to find someone with copies of these
videos. She's also done radio interviews and these CDs have popped up here
and there, but usually only contain the music that's on the full CDs.
Also looking for a New Years Eve show she did on TNN around 1993, give or
take a year. Would love to see this show once again, wish I taped it back
then!
I'd like to trade for DAT or CDr or video from my list. I can't download
music files, sorry, I use a dial up modem and it would just take too long.
I have a list of live recordings I can trade, so please email me and I'll
email you my list and hope that you find something I can trade with you. Or
I can do Blanks and shipping if I've got nothing to trade with you. Please
email me. Thanks.

Good idea!
Actually, any older receiver will probably have a phono preamp with an
output that is accessible on the "Tape Out" jacks. Doesn't even matter
if its broke and won't drive speakers anymore. You are only using the
preamp.
Of course, the better a unit you can find, the better the preamp will be.
But they will all provide the needed gain and equalization for a phono
cartridge - and that is usually way better than no phono preamp at all.

I bought a Marantz 1060 in the early 70's that has the kind of output
described below, in someone elses respnse to this thread. They have a
little jumper to seperate the pre-amp from the power amp, aand there is
always, one of these or more, or a similar Marantz with the same
separation between the pre-amp and power amp. I also bught one recently
fr use in a small room PA system for a speaker 2 nights a weel in a 700
to 800 sq ft room. It was also the first quality amp I bought new, in
1973. It was a clean little unit, and the older marantz amps that are
still around generally are very clean power. Having run the Tape
Out's>A/D Converter>SPIDF in Digital sound card and recorded to the HD
with Cool Edit Pro, I don't see the advantage of using a specific Preamp
out that is designed to go to a Power amp over using the Tape Output.
Both are Preamped AFAIK. If you'd like I'll make a shrt clip, from an
FM source or a VHS Hi Fi Dead show, by the lineage I suggested, convert
it to shn, and make it about 1 Meg, so I can upload it quickly, and
anyone interested can hear the results, after converting it from the shn
fomat I send to audio. I hope to god that didn't cause any contraversy.

about cell phones and digital recording
ran into this problem with mini disc/dat and cell phones back in 2000...Its
seems to be a european only problem and has something to do with different
system they use over there..There were problems with it in Italy (cure) and
England (oasis)...it seems it only happens if there very close to you, but
it does happen, so your not crazy..
solution, none, except rally your cell phone companies to go the american
standard, havent had this problem over here before. completely un-realistic,

Hi,
I am finally ready to invest in a new soundcard. I was looking into
getting the Ego Systems Waveterminal 2496 since I have heard so many
good things about it. However, I need a card that will import/export
Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, and the 2496 does not. I'm looking in a
mid-range priced card, that doesn't re-sample automatically and has the
ability to handle the Dolby Digital stream.
Basically, I need to transfer my DAT tapes to my HD, as well as import
and edit video with Dolby Digital sound. Are there higher end cards by
Ego Systems that I should look into? I am really clueless when it comes
to digital soundcards, so any suggestions given will be greatly
appreciated. I want to purchase one right away.
Thanks,

Hi everyone. First of all, peace to you all. Don't forget to be kind to
one another every day. It'll make the world a better place.
No on to my question. I've had my M1 for several months, and I used to
record with MD before I had it. With the crappy preamps found in MD units, I
get very used to using the line in from my AT933 with a Sound Pro's BB for
loud shows to avoid brickwalling. I've heard the M1 preamp is better, but I
wonder how much better?
The loud shows I've recorded (some with Oktava MC012 > PS-2) have been
done through the line in to be on the safe side, but am I being too safe? I
know there's soft limiter technology in the mic in and I'd like to take
advantage of it if it's not going to cause brickwalling.
What do you knowledgeable folks think? Thanks.
Matt

I just heard two recordings made from the same stand using two different
sets of mics, and I am now bound and determined to buy a decent set of
inexpensive mics.
Yes, I know the two ideas, "good", and "inexpensive", do not usually live
together.
I would like to spend $400 or less, and used vs. new doesn't matter to
me. I will use them primarily for folk/pop/jamband shows and would very
much like it if they were in any way stealthable.
I'd really like to hear what you all think.

Somebody asked the question b4. I need to know if anyone else is using NiMH
to power their Sonosaxes. I have used them once and gotten 1 1/2 hours with
no problems. I have notice that the light blinks at a rate of 1.5 sec even
with freshly charged 9V 150mAH (actually 8.4V written on side of Ray O Vac
Ultra battery). Anyone else seen this?
There are 9.6V (really!) rated at 160mAH out there made by Plainview
Batteries, anyone try those? I have notice 9V at 200mAH as well (again
really 8.4V). I don't want to get a battery pack I just want to be able the
use the 9V compartments so I can reliably get 2 plus hours without having to
feed it a steady stream of Duracell alkalines (which last a little more than
2 1/2 hours for me)
