Please email me offlist.

What the ??????
I cannot fathom how a pay-for-patch plan would be
officially sanctioned by Bruce Hornsby or anyone in
his organization. The legal implications are huge.
I also respect Bruce enough to doubt that he would
make this a "policy" on ethical grounds alone.
Has anyone else shared or witnessed this experience ?
I wouldn't jump to the ebay scenario just yet.....

Scott, ever hear of the Teamsters?
They're the guys at the show who are not tapping their feet.
Seriously though...only some venues will do that..and others will
charge a "reasonable fee" ($20-200) to hook up to the board...go to
the Knit these days and see.
Remember...no one forced the man to pay..so hats off to him. Robert

would any of the other non-phish fans on this list
like to start a pool wherein we each take guesses at
the number of ticket grovels we'll have to wade
through before new year's eve rolls around?
i figure there are at least a couple dozen of us, so
if we all throw in five bucks and take a guess,
whoever's closest wins the pool and can afford a
couple of CDr spindles, which we can then in turn fill
with non-phish tunes to turn phish fans onto other

Sleater-Kinney is playing at the Trocadero in Philadephia on October 19.
There's a 50/50 chance I'll be able to make the show and tape, I may be out
on business that week. I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to
tape this show, or is already planning on taping. Even if I do end up going,
it's always nice to have two recordings of a show. Also, as far as I know,
S-K allows audience taping video/audio. I doubt the venues are informed so
it's probably best to go stealth. Have lots of S-K to offer among other
artists...
Thanks.

I was a Dynaco fan and user for many years. Still have an older
Dynaco solid state power amp that works!
The tube-type PAS-2 and PAS-3 preamps are great if one can
be found that still has good components. The solid-state PAT-4
was a good unit also.
In the '90s, Adcom came along as the "new Dynaco". Good
engineering and build quality, reasonable precision, and very
good pricing. I use an Adcom GFP-555II as a general purpose
control preamp in my little studio. It has a good sounding phono
preamp that has provided many nice LP>CDR conversions. I use
it with a Blue Point high-output moving coil cartridge. The Adcom
cost me about $100 in a pawn shop.

Okay, not jamband related, but more contemporary UK
chill. Frou Frou is Imogen Heap (electro-pop singer
songwriter who's done vocals for Jeff Beck, Urban
Species, and Mitch Gerber in addition to her amazing
solo album "i Megaphone") and Guy Sigsworth (Producer
for Bjork, Madonna). These are their first ever US
dates doing pre-tour support for their great new CD
"Details".
I'm begging, please if you can, tape one of these
shows. If you're going to roll one of these shows,
please let me know. Stealth will be required for the
live shows, and I'll repay in kind by rolling any SF
Bay Area shows you might need for your collection.
Thanks in advance,
Drew

Either this comment is grossly unnecessary or you need a ":-)" here.
Seriously, there are a lot of people who like that band and you
should be able to respect that w/o flaunting it in their face.
Especially given that this list just finished beating its fair
share of dead horses into the ground -- even joking around
and properly ":-" 'ed, this is a time for some restraint.

I do agree that ticket related traffic should be very limited. However, it
sometimes is valuable. I would suggest the following guidelines for
both upcoming Phish and Other Ones shows, although all of this is
optional
- It should be taping related (eg "I have a taper ticket")
- "I have an extra taper ticket for X" is definately worthwhile
- "I will be at X show, Y show, and Z show, have a ticket,
can I patch out of you?" seems reasonable to post once and
not repeat
- If its really close to the gigs and you want to setup a trade,
I think that also makes sense if it seems likely someone would
make that trade (eg. not "Boise to trade for NYE"). However,
starting to post this now and repeating it until the shows
So, those who are interested use some common sense and restraint;
those who aren't, do not poke fingers in the eye of others. Cool?

After more than 15 years of taping, I've decided that enough is enough.
Way too much hassle anymore to tape shows. So-- I'm putting the rest of
my gear on the block. I've sold off my mics to friends but I have the
following for sale. I would prefer to sell everything as a unit. Will
NOT separate the deck/battery setup, but will sell other pieces
separately. Everyone knows the value of all this gear so please, please,
serious offers only:
Tascam DA P1
Apogee a/d 1000 Rev.C w/Apogee Wyde Eye 75 ohm 1 meter digital cable
Eco-charge Gamma and Beta 2 battery systems with chargers for the above
Audio Magic Presto II 15 ft XLR-XLR cables
2 13 ft Talon mic stands
Shure A27m Stereo Bar
VARK Stereo Bar
Sony D5M Analog Deck
Sonic Sense Sonicase (will hold DAP1, a/d1000, batteries, cables, mics)
If someone is interested in buying a "just add mics" setup: Deck,
Apogee, batteries, cables, stereo bar and stand, we can probably work
out a great price for you.

Subject: *Official Announcement* Audio Taping At Austin City Limits Festival
Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2002 10:48:35 -0500
Hello Tapers of ACL,
I have been receiving some concerning e-mails regarding taping at the
Austin City Limits Festival coming up this weekend. Audience taping
WILL be allowed. There will be NO Sound board Access. Audience taping
WILL be allowed at ALL stages, however, there will be bands that DO NOT
ALLOW TAPING, right now, Jimmy Vaughn fits into this category, there
WILL be others to follow. So, please do not even attempt to record Jimmy
Vaughn, and these artists that fit into this category. I will inform
everyone who these artists are prior to their performance. There are NO
video cameras allowed, and NO mixing boards. There will be a designated
section at each stage, and please regard this rule. You are fortunate
enough to be able to record. If you are caught taping outside a
designated section, you will be removed from the festival. There will
be NO ELECTRICAL POWER provided, please bring your own BATTERY POWER.
Also, there is no parking close to the venue. If you bring in any items
that are not allowed in, it will be a very long process to get that item
back to your vehicle or hotel room.
As for Still Cameras, the Web site says: Prohibited:
Professional still camera equipment (no tripods, big zooms, or
commercial use rigs)
I am trying to work with them about this (at least a more clear
definition), but right now, can not guarantee the outcome. I would
recommend trying to reduce your camera down to a single lens or not
bring a "professional" camera with interchangeable lenses. Thus far,
here is what ACL has given approval for:
All Audio gear including microphones, mic stand, pre amps, A>D
converters, Recorders (DAT/Analog). Please regard these rules! NO
VIDEO CAMERAS. I am not responsible for any item not allowed in the
gate, security is well informed on items allowed in, and will ultimately
be responsible. Please forward this to any other list serve or e-mail
list. THIS IS THE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. Austin City Limits ALWAYS
reserves the right to refuse entrance, refuse items, and all rights to
protect the good of the festival.
Thank you for your time!
Can't wait to see you all in Austin this weekend!!
Jeff
