From: michael ryan <luv2brew@yahoo.com> Subject: Little Feat 'Waiting for Columbus ' Date: Tue, 1 Oct 2002 12:12:27 -0700 (PDT) Hey Now All! Is there going to be any one taping this show??? October 14th at the Listner Theatre in D.C.... This is going to be a stellar show!!! I have been informed of about 90% of the guests and let me tel you that there will be some serious PICKIN'!!!!! Sorry not to be able to give the names away but lets just say that some of these people are far and away great artists. Think in the line of Jam Bands, i.e. LOS, SCI, ABB, Superpickers and many more!!! I am not sure if taping is allowed yet and I will post as soon as I find out. The Feat usually allow taping as well as many of the guests, one or two have stopped allowing in the past couple of years but the majority are taper friendly so I would bet that taping will be no problem. I cannot get away or I would be at the board with cords and a sweet fat sack in hand groveling for a patch %^} !!! Alas I am working 7 days a week and moving back into the house after the fires have died down. Please let me know and i will do what I can to find out who to talk to... Peace and no gate crashing here... Michael __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New DSL Internet Access from SBC & Yahoo! http://sbc.yahoo.com

I for > > one am sick of m-audio blaming windows for their driver shortfalls. > There is > a whole host of cards out there that work fine in win2k w/24 bit" > > >From my perspective, there is another choice. ... keep running W98. > > For me, I'd rather not run an OS that has a HCL. I have a feeling that about summs it up. I think M-Audio is copping out on a solution, especially since it took them a month to get back to me with the root of the problem. However, it appears as if a smoothly functioning software driver can also usurp control and bypass KMixer. It should also be noted that there is a "KMixer bypass" patch that's been out there for a while, but I haven't found anything out about it. This is what I've found: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Resolving the Limitations of WDM Fortunately, the WDM has a provision for driver extensions. The WDM DDK provides a function named IoRegisterDeviceInterface through which any kernel mode driver can "advertise" that it has custom behavior. A user-mode application can then query the system for registered drivers, and communicate directly with them via the user-mode DeviceIoControl function by sending I/O controls (IOCTLs). This mechanism suggests a way to work around the KMixer issue in WDM. http://www.digitalprosound.com/Features/Cakewalk_White_paper_page3.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From the SONAR newsgroup: <begin copy> If you're running the Delta WDM drivers and Cool Edit, for example, Cool Edit will open the driver as 16 bit, through Microsoft's MME->WDM layer. This also brings in the KMixer and adds at least 30 ms to the latency. This is the worst case. If you are running the Delta WDM drivers and Sound Forge, Forge will open the driver as 24 bit, through Microsoft's MME->WDM layer. Forge is smarter about how it opens the driver. You will still go through KMixer's 30 ms penalty. Medium worst scenerio. If you are running the Delta WDM drivers and Cubase as ASIO, Cubase will open the driver as 24 bit using MIDIMan's ASIO->WDM layer. No KMixer, no 30 ms. latency, but you're still going through a layer, so there's still some small penalty. Medium best scenerio. If you are running the Delta WDM drivers and SONAR as WDM, SONAR will open the driver as 24 bit with no layer in between. No KMixer, no 30 ms. latency, no penalty. Best scenerio. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/laptop-tapers/message/1012

Section 302, Row 12, Seats 19 & 20. $150 face value per ticket. Asking $330 because of Ticketbastards surcharges. Frist come, first served - or I'll be forced (against my will) to use Ebay. While I'm at it, I have the following shows recorded. DAT to CDR. Source info for all is follows: SSdsm6/L > Mod2 > D100 > U24 Waveterminal * Rolling Stones 9/10/02 Chicago, IL * The Pretenders 9/10/02 Chicago, IL (opening) * Paul McCartney 9/21/02 Milwaukee, WI * Paul McCartney 9/24/02 Chicago, IL * Bruce Springsteen 9/25/02 Chicago, IL I'm pressed for time, so I really need to limit this to any new Sheryl Crow, Chris Cornell, Jewel, newer Macca shows, newer Stones, and POSSIBLY new Springsteen, depending on the setlist. Apparently they include a whole batch of 1974 US tour shows from the New England area in unprecedented sound quality, plus some Cream soundboard recordings previously uncirculated. I got offered these a while back, and have seen some listed, but have since not been able to obtain them, or find out details of what exactly is available out there. If anyone can help with information, or better still the offer of a trade (PLEASE!) -I would be eternally grateful!!. 1000's of Clapton's to trade!, including 2002 Ferrari Festival, Brands Hatch UK. Anyone recording at the 'Carl Wilson Foundation Benefit' at Royce Hall UCLA this coming Sunday?? Thanks Mal

I'll be taping fridays, and possibly next weeks, if a trade will make it better. Conversely, if anyone is already taping saturday, please let me know, and i'll just give the tic to a friend. Thanks!
