He is down to an 18 song set. 15 for the main set and 3 for the encore. I've not seen a double encore during the Summer tour. The Winter US and Euro were the usual 20/21/22 deals we saw in the Fall L&T tour. Those ran about 2.5 hours or so. I will be using a 90m when I see him just to be on the safe side of things. I will be taping 4 shows, so I'll be looking for trades on the other shows. Regards, Jeff "Music... Date: Thu, 3 Oct 2002 10:26:49 -0400 This explains why I can't get on line to Ticket master today! Has anybody else have any problems! I keep getting a blank page! > > > > Oct 1, 2002 > > > > > > > > AP Newswire - Syracuse, New York > > > > > > > > Over two-hundred Ticket master customer service employees went on strike today as part of a petition to stop the band Phish from ever using the ticket service again. "Work is no longer work. It's become psychotherapy. I don't care if a person has seen the band over two-hundred times since nineteen ninety-one," explained Julie Tavners, a former customer service representative. Research does show that call volume has quadrupled since tickets for the four scheduled Phish concerts went on sale, but Ticketmaster refused to comment on the matter. "They're the most obsessed fans I've ever come in contact with, and I've sold tickets to Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel," explained Mike Turrico, also on strike. "Customers were offering me some girl named Molly for tickets, but I quickly assured them that I'm happily married." This strike marks only the second in Ticketmaster's long and dominant history in the concert tickets arena. The first occurred in New York City in 1985 when the phone lines suddenly went down soon after Barbara Streisand tickets became available to the general public. "I was there back in eighty-five. This isn't as bad, but it's damn near close," explained Turrico. Phish will play Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve, then head down to Hampton, Virginia for a three night stand on January second, third, and fourth. Date: Thu, 3 Oct 2002 14:13:56 EDT Although I knew there would be a limited amount of tapers allowed in for the Jammy Awards last night at Roseland Ballroom, there almost was no taping at all. It seems that the promoter told the security at the door that taping wouldn't be allowed, and all us tapers with tickets were forced to wait outside while they discussed the situation with the promoter. Eventually they made an anouncement that only five (5) tapers would be allowed in. That five eventually became ten (10), but that was where they stopped allowing the tapers in. After that all tapers were forced to check their gear with the Roseland Ballroom in a room downstairs if they wanted to come into the show. There were tapers who were there all afternoon on line who got shut out of taping, even though TDK (who was one of the major sponsers of this event) had a table set up inside where they gave out free DAT tapes to the tapers. What good are free DAT tapes if you can't use them? They also were giving out free CD-Rs and free mini-disks. At least they allowed a few of us to tape, but the initial confusion was not appreciated. It wasn't like any of the bands playing thatnight had any problems with tapers. It was purely the promoter trying to prevent recording while at the same time save face with the Jamband scene by allowing recording. The confusion was some great that very few tapers (who were not allowed to tape) were able to grab their decks and patch cords out of their bags before checking them in. As such, there were virtually no DATheads looking for a patch. A few mini-disks got in, but not a lot of DAT decks. The good news is that there were some pretty good rigs that did get in, and we do have good recordings of the event. It went on till almost 3:00 AM (Bob Weir and Ratdog went on at around 2:00 AM) with a monster Jam closing the show. By the time the show ended it was too late to even bother attempting to go over to the after-Jammy party at BB Kings Club in Times Square. We would have gotten there at close to 3:30 AM, which seemed ridiculous to me. A lot of after-show tickets went unused, I'm sure. I hope the money for those tickets went to the benefit it was supposed to, and didn't get chopped up by the promoters. The Jammy Awards show was incredible, and well worth the ticket price. By the end of the night it turned into a Warren & Friends show! What a great night of music it was. Too bad all the tapers couldn't at least get patches from the limited number of rigs that were allowed in. Reply-to: bdipert@pacbell.net Date: Thu, 03 Oct 2002 13:07:20 -0700 Folks, do any of you know of a utility (ideally a DirectX plugin that'd run under Sound Forge 6 and/or Cool Edit Pro 2, but standalone is fine too) that'll clean up clipped audio (ie interpolate replacement samples from surrounding samples, etc)? I did some recording to the notebook PC over the weekend and am still working through the ideosyncracies of hardware (Digigram VxPocket v2) and software, therefore the occasional overdriving of input levels. These are 24-bit WAVs; if you only know of something that's 16-bit capable, I can downconvert prior to cleanup but would prefer something that works with both 16- and 24-bit files.
