hi
does anybody have a DAT of this fantastic prince
recording they can clone for me?  i had audio CD
copies rolled for me by the taper but the disks were
bunk and all subsequent attempts at getting a reburn
from this source have fallen flat.  i *really* want to
get a primo copy of this, as it's one of my favorite
prince shows from the last couple of years that i've
heard!

i want to hear from you even if you've got clean audio
copies -- as long as you can get clean extracts with
EAC, i'll be happy with whatever you can produce.

drop me a line, much to trade, prince and otherwise.

I was wondering if anyone here has gotten the Oade Bros. modification to a 
Sony portable. Preferably...a PCM-M1. I don't have much cheese to spread 
around so I'm looking to improve my sound for the least cost. I run Core 
Sound Cardioids with a battery box/bass roll off filter>20 dB attenuator 
cable> Mic in. I've run it this way since I've heard bad things about 
running Mic in alone. (people having clipping at a lower level than normal)

The Oade site explains a bit about this but I'd like to hear from people who 
have done it to see if it is going to make a big difference or little. (I 
say all this realizing that my mics are the major limiting factor in my 
sound quality here.) Thanks.

had a great time down in austin at the ACL festival and was hoping to get my
hands on ANY other ACL shows that people taped at the festival..there were
so many stages and great bands; unfortunately not that many tapers, esp at
the side stages..check that festival out next year if you have a chance

Hey All.

David Bowie is about to get out of the house for a week and do a Marathon tour of NYC.
The first 4 shows are tiny little 300-400 seat venues and sold out in seconds:

Staten Island Snug Harbor Music Hall (October 11)
Brooklyn St. Anne's Warehouse (October 12)
Queen's College Golden Center (October 16)
Jimmy's Bronx Cafe (October 17)

Anyone who can point me towards a ticket or a lead on a ticket to one of those can have a copy of whatever tape I can manage (+ of course the cost of whatever the ticket may be, they are all $75 standing room only shows, but I'm sure there's a markup). If you are going and plan to tape, let me know, lots to offer in trade.

Following those 4 shows are 3 more:

New York Beacon Theatre (October 20)
Philadelphia Tower Theatre (October 21)
Boston Orpheum Theatre (October 23)

and that's it for the US, I think.

I am also in search of a good taping ticket for the Beacon show (about 1/3 of the way back on either side of the floor would be nice). Drop me a line offlist if you can help.

i am using a soyo motherboard with the cmedia chip that supports spdif.
when attempting to use the spdif in i get many many many little low level
digital fliffs throughout the transfer or sometimes i get horrible
distortion
on playback or monitering of the spdif in.
unacceptable.
tried unistalling and reinstalling, disableing all other in/outs, updated
drivers etc....
i think i am doing everything correctly.

i believe i had read a post about this a few weeks back, anyone?

any help or direction on or off list would be greatly appreciated.

mb is the new p4x400 with the via chipset and 533fsb and ddr400

I have authenticated first generation audience reels transfered to CD of 
NRPS/Dead at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT on May 3, 1970. For those 
who may be interested, these are reels dubbed direct from the original 
audience master reels owned by Wesleyan Professor Charles Lemert. The master 
reels were recorded by students as part of a sociology project and are 
interesting in that regard. There was plenty of anti-Vietnam War campus 
turmoil that week and Wesleyan was no exception. Many had attended a 
demonstration that afternoon in New Haven and were tear-gassed. This is also 
the night before the Kent State shootings. 

Though these are far from great recordings (you can read about partial 
multigenerated copies in The Compendium and at Deadlists.com,) this is 
probably the best source that has circulated and the complete contents of the 
reels is included. Here's what's on them:

for Dead offshoot bands from the 70's, pre-74 Dead and Bay area bands, 
including old audience masters. I'd also love to find the Stones in Hartford 
a few days ago or any great Stones from this tour. (I hear there's a great 
ALD from the Fleet Center in Boston circulating.)

I have 20 CDR copies of the Wesleyan reels already made on TyYuden Fujis so I 
can get this done quickly. Its going to be a first-come first-serve and 
everyone will get same day turnaround that way and I won't get behind. I'll
