Well it seems that I finally fell prey to deck problems. My PCM-M1 decided
to choke on a tape and not unload it. Luck would have it that this happens
right before a couple of great shows. I'm hoping to get it fixed locally
beforehand but I'm trying to back myself up here.
I was planning on taping the following shows. If you are going to
either/both please let me know. I'll return the favor whatever way I can.
Paul McCartney @ Tacoma Dome 10/19/02
The Strokes @ The Paramount Theatre 10/21/02
I'm still going to both shows and I'll use my (choking sound) minidisc to
record if that's what it comes down to but hopefully it won't. Thanks

I'll be taping Bowie at Queens College tonight. I was wondering if
anyone has been or is planning on taping this week's NY shows or the
Philly or Boston gigs. I would love to set up a trade.
I thought I had tickets lined up for the Jimmy's Bronx Cafe gig tomorrow
as well as Sunday's Beacon Theater show, but my tickets fell through. If
there is anyone out there with an extra ticket to either show, I'll
gladly offer you my copies of the shows in addition to paying for the
ticket.
Thanks,

Subject: Mike's Stones 9-22-02 B/P is over!
Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 01:26:34 EDT
Hey people,
I offered the Stones 9-22-02 Tower Theater Philly Schoeps B/P a few days ago,
and deadlined it for Saturday (Easter Island time). Sorry, can't do any
more, I think I agreed to do about 50 or 60 b/p for fellow DAThead members...
just a matter of those people wanting to send the b/p, and I really can't
take more offers - it's too many right now.
I don't know if this Stones show is unique or if the Stones are pulling a
McCartney and playing the same set every night, whether it's a stadium or
small club gig... but this is a nice show. Some of the people who are doing
the b/p with me have agreed to share b/p with this list in the future, and I
know others also can do some b/p. Finally, I understand that there are other
Schoeps Stones tapes from this year, so if the sets are different, I'd like
to encourage other DATheads to share the wealth, because if the Philly
Schoeps can be offered as a b/p (not just from me, but from people who got it
and offered it a week or two), then Shirley (you can't be serious) Schoeps
from the Aragon and other fine venues also can be shared as a b/p. I know
there are a lot of Stones fans on this list, and I'm sure they'd be
appreciative of other people's offers.
Sorry for wasting so much bandwidth, and alas I think I've offered enough tax
to last for this message. Oh and Go Giants, ha ha. They're going to
Disneyland!

I am sorry if this is a bit off topic. I've been taping with dat for years,
but just dived into laptop recording
I just made a recording at 24bit/96khz. When I saved it it gave me an error.
I believe it may be because the file was too large (3.6gig). The file is
there but I cant open it with any wav editing program I have. I think the
wav header is corrupted or not there. Does anyone know anything about this?
or how to fix it? I used DCart millenium to record with win 2k. Thanks for
any help you may have to offer

If anyone happened to tape the Cult at the Fillmore in San Francisco Tues. night, or
in Last Vegas last night, please drop me a line. I have a load of Cult shows from
recent tours and older tours to trade, as well as many other bands. It sounds like
they threw a lot of interesting stuff into the setlist.
If anyone is planning on taping some of the remaining dates, also get in touch. This
could be the last time the band tours for a while, so please try to tape if you can!
Thanks.

Subject: Audiodesk files from a Mac>W2K machine. How do I open them?
Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 08:47:08 -0500
I posted last week about transferring Audiodesk files from a Powerbook 1400
(OS 8.6) CD drive to my W2K machine, and got a few good suggestions,
finally was successful in setting the Mac up as an FTP server using
NetPresenz, and bringing the files onto my Windows machine with CuteFTP.
The files appear as "[name].hqx" so I use dropstuff to unbinhex them.
Opening them has been the next issue. I use Goldwave and CoolEditPro 1.2 to
try to open the files, but end up with horribly distorted noise--but
recognizable as a musical file. The "open" dialog box asks me if they are
PCM, 16-bit, signed/unsigned, stereo/mono, and the sampling rate. How do I
determine this information and open these files in their originally saved
state so that I can save them as .wavs for burning to CDR? Is there a way
to tell CEP or Goldwave what the file is so that when it's opened, it is
opened properly?
Thanks for your suggestions, ye Mac users. You have been helpful thus far.

**I must admit I didn't read every recent posting on what I believe was
someone looking to sell used DATs for $3.00, but I hope the issue was the
price and not the general concept.**
So with that said, I have around 60-70 mostly Sony and KAO 2 hour DAT tapes
that I'd like to sell for $1.00 each. I'd really like to sell in lots of 10
at least...If any tape is hosed (cannot be taped upon w/o major glitches),
I'll refund the $ to you.
The tapes happen to have a bunch of Phish shows recorded on them, as well as
some other artists/bands. Mostly quality sources (Schoeps, B&K, Neumann).
Upon last listen to every tape, there were no digi-glitches, but this is not
guaranteed. I'll gladly email a full list of what I have upon request.
Peace and love to all of you...take care!
