Hello friends,
It was nice to see Ian up close and personal last nigh in the remote town of Ridgefield CT. I can guarantee you don't have another recording from this town. Ian performed some rarities in a little theater. I got a great recording and want to trade it. Send me your lists. I would like recordings from this short tour, other Tull items, or anything interesting.

OK, so I've got a nice shiny new D8, and I've got a 'new' pair of Oktava
012s. Now, what do I need besides these two things?
1) Mic stand. Hours of plugging away at eBay have yielded literally
zero hits of any kind. Where can I get a cheap, portable-enough, decent
stand? 10-12', holding ORTF or XY, not really too worried about
shock-mounting yet (should I be?).
2) Cables. I want to run this thing into my D8, preferably into 'line
in'. The questions are: Can I get 2 XLR to 1/4" plugs, then run the
1/4" into a 2 x 1/4" > 1/8" stereo, then the 1/8" stereo into a "battery
box" (which I use with Core CSBs and which works just fine for that) and
then into my line in? Can I run the Oktavas from XLR > 1/8" straight
into the mic in, using the deck's phantom power (ignoring brickwalling
issues for now)? As you can tell, I know very little about XLR cabling
(vs. 'unbalanced' 2-conductor stuff). Can I build a phantom supply (like
I did with the above mentioned battery box) using the same priniciples?
Which durned wire is 'hot'? Why are there 3 conductors in XLRs?
Note that I am *not* (sadly) in the market for a preamp or A/D, although
if there is an existing *cheap* solution, I'd love to hear about it.
DMic? ADC20? PS2? Again, I'm new at this part of it all...
3) Is there a good FAQ or website or something that can fill me in on
this kind of stuff? I don't have the savvy to be building my own preamps
and the like, but when I saw how easy it is to make a battery box from
$10 is parts (that sells for $60 retail), I became a convert to
rolling-my-own electronics where it's do-able...
Advice here would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, DAT-Heads!

I received the attached note from the Edgemoor Club regarding a virus which I
did detect in my hard drive. It was easily removed as noted in the attached
directions. I'm sorry for this inconvenience but was asked to forward the
message to all those in my address book.
