He didn't respond to a trade request so I figured I'd ask the group if anyone got copies of those or has nice recordings of the Radiohead 2002 gigs that AREN'T the ones that initially surfaced from the guy who taped all the shows with the Sony ECM 717 mic. Trade list is at http://www.sanctifiedpress.com/trade.html BWT: First response with their address will get Spiritualized Denver,CO Gothic Theater 4-11-02 2cd (DPA4061>D8) ------------------------------ From: Dan Sisler Subject: RE : Keller Williams Date: Sat, 2 Nov 2002 09:32:08 -0800 (PST) On Fri, 1 Nov 2002 12:49:01 -0500 (EST)> wrote : > > well someone at the show wouldnt let me patch b/c he had already given out > > all 3 of his patches he can allow off his rig > > FWIW, whenever I give patches I make it a requirement that they be > passed on if anyone asks (if the technology allows), and those who > can't pass on go to the end of the chain, while those who can pass on > more than they get go to the front. i think this has to do more with ignorance, than tech capabilities. of recent i have been turned away for the very same reason, the rig is "full" (?) i look down and see three d-7/8s in a chain.....that is full? i think we ran 13 D-7s at the '99 philsh shows for gods sakes. but is there a convincing argument one came make to to taper to allow another deck in line?? if so, PLEASE LET ME KNOW peace, dan __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I don't need the threaded base, just the plastic clamps. These are a standard part with the KM180 and KM100 series mics. So if you have a pair you aren't using, I'll take them off your hands. thanks ------------------------------ From: GaoBest@aol.com Subject: strange B/P offer: Flaming Lips 3-18-88 and ps on Stones 9-22-02 Date: Sat, 2 Nov 2002 14:04:58 EST Hey kids, This is long, sorry. I finally have taken time to put my Flaming Lips 3-18-88 Maxwell's (Hoboken, NJ for those who don't recognize this global concert landmark) show onto CDR so I can offer b/p on CDR only, copied using Toast or itunes. Source: Analog D5 > cassette > DAT (SP) > CDR (via Sony CDRW-33 which resamples to 44.1) I forgot the mics, but the taper (one of the best '80s NJ/NY tapers who also taped U2 4-1-85, New Order 8-31-87/12-5-86/et al, Cure, Dire Straits, Pretenders, and a zillion other fine shows) was a pro so probably used two Nakamichi mics. He dubbed cassettes using two D5 decks, which should be a clue at his genius. The CDR has two tracks, basically sides 1 and 2 of the cassette copy. I got the cassette in 1993, and copied it to DAT in 1999 or 2000. Total time is about 65 minutes. This show includes "Jesus Shooting Heroin" and a variety of songs from the two albums before Telepathic Surgery, but I actually don't care for it very much. One day I'll find and copy the drummerless show that included the debut of "Chrome Plated Suicide." This is a must-have for Flaming Lips fans because Flaming Lips were at their best before 1990, it's pure Oklahoma power, probably heavily inspired by Debris ('70s Oklahoma dirge rock band). These guys are more than just Beck's backing band. I will accept up to 20 B/P for anyone interested, but there are below bitchy rules: 1. Please email me a request with FL880318b/p or something in the subject so I'll know what the email is about. I will then email you a bulk generic email with my address. 2. I will not accept any offers until after November 20 due to a holiday beforehand. Any emails received before that date will be deleted! I'm so evil! It's a good way to see if people can follow directions amidst all the chaos. You are the bus driver, Cindy Brady. 3. Fulfillment to occur within the busy Christmas-mail season (Nov 20 to Dec 24), so you always risk the loss of your parcel with our belovedly incompetent US postal system. 4. Trade offers are accepted (but be realistic and don't offer me Trey soundboards or Tim Reynold's home demos) and will not affect the 20 b/p limit. I'll probably be fortunate to get two responses, but just so they're sent after November 20. 5. Toast copies receive the accidental filler of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, itunes receive just the two tracks, I'll let you choose your poison. 6. No DAT b/p available, I still have my other DAT deck sitting in a friend's flat. 7. Fuji or Japanese discs only, if you send anything else I'll either throw your package away or substitute with Fuji discs and use your discs as coasters. 8. You do not need to use clean/new/Manco-brand padded envelopes, and I don't judge DAThead members by the quality of their padded envelopes/packaging. Also a few weeks back, I offered a Rolling Stones 9-22-02 Philly b/p which had about 60 interested recipients, but only about 25 or so actually went and sent their b/p to me, and I have now fulfilled all requests. For the remaining people who were given my address/information, please don't send me anything now because with my upcoming vacation my PO Box will just get clogged. Either get the b/p from someone else or send after November 20. I did get Comiskey which I've not yet heard, and I've forgotten the source, but if it sounds good I can try to b/p it in December. I got a pair of Okm II -Rock Microphones a few months ago and have had used them on a few occasions and still don't feel that comfortable using them. my question to you ppl is what is the optimal way to use these mics? I use the mics w/ the A3 module. at a recent Sevendust (loud rock type concert) i had the A3 set at "bassy mode on" and 0db attenuator and got great levels, capable of going over, but the recording came out distorted when the drums kicked in even though i kept levels at around -12db. i could have gone bassy mode on and -20db attenuator but then i could only muster levels under -12db on the recorder even when i was maxed out. however at the thrice/cohed show i was at mentioned above, i set it on bassy mode on and -20db on the A3. no distortion. sounded ok. but i'm concerned w/ the lack of higher levels oon the recorder. i could still only max out at -12db, even with -0db att set on the M1 dat. when using theses mics should the levels always be low? or is there aything i could do. i just feel cheated out of possible higher levels. at all aforementioned show i was infront of the stacks or PA suggestions? Date: Sun, 3 Nov 2002 15:02:51 +0100 Hi all, I plan on taping Ryan Adams in Berlin, Germany next Wednesday. Anyone knows his attitude towards taping? According to BTAT board access is not allowed, even though there are several recent sbd recordings floating around. Anyone? Date: Sun, 3 Nov 2002 11:15:49 -0500 According to email I got from Apogee... the current shipping units will run on 6-volts, whereas the first units shipped need a minimum of 8-volts. (see their email below) So apparently I can use my homemade 6v7ah SLA that I used to use with my D8. But none of the plugs I found at Radio Shack fit well enough to the Mini-Me DC in. Can anyone point me to a retailer with a model number of a tip that would work. Anybody out there made their own cable yet? Also... I have been told about three Mini-Me units that have smoked using SLA power supplies. A loose plug could cause this as pointed out to me by the folks at Apogee (see their reply below). Radio Shack had a plug that was a nice fit on the outside but apparently a bit too large on the inside. Or so it appears to my eye. I have no good way to measure the inside. And when I used it... the Mini-Me didnt power up. In light of the potential to fry my Mini-Me.. I want a tip that is known to absolutely work. I'll probably end up cutting my AC adapter that came with the Mini-Me and use Neutrik connectors unless someone points me to a good lead. Below is Apogee's take on the reports of smoking Mini-Me's. And by the way... their tech support is friendly, quick and informative!! ========== Apogee Tech Support email ======== "Winnie Thanks for the comment on the Mini-Me. In regards to the SLA Batteries and the three Mini-Me's that went up in smoke. It's hard to say what exactly the problem was and why these three happened to go up in smoke. Typically if a battery has a cable that isn't properly secured and wiggles around it could cause a spark which will send a good amount of current down the line. This is all speculation at this point and we never actually "pointed" a finger at the cable manufacturer. What we did find out after talking with Eco Charge was that they had talked to the customer who fried one of the Mini-Me's pretty severely and found out that he was using a cable that was not something they recommended in use with their product. Also note that the Mini-Me is not reverse polarity and must be center positive. So if someone reversed the polarity on their battery by mistake this can cause it to fail. In regards to Voltage requirements. The Mini-Me rev A units can only use a minimum of 8 Volts whereas the Mini-Me rev C units can go down to 6 Volts. The reason for this is due to special requests that we got from many resellers and customers. At that point we also decided to add in the gain changing feature. Basically any unit that a dealer has just received is indeed a Rev C board. Units in the serial range of 85-118 are Rev A. Rumors are rumors and there truly is nothing we can do about people spreading them.
